String catalogs in packages
We have separated much of our UI into different packages to reduce complexity and compile time. When we recently tested using new .xcstrings string catalogs, we hit an unexpected problem. Strings extracted from SwiftUI components like Text or Button are extracted into the Localizable.xcstrings in the same package, but the default behaviour of Text(_ key:tableName:bundle:comment:) is to use Bundle.main. When the default behaviour of the string extraction isn't to extract to the main app target, this introduces a very fragile system where it's easy to add code that looks localised, but ends up failing lookup at runtime. I don't feel comfortable that we will always remember to define the correct module every time we create a Text. Also, other components like Button doesn't have an init that takes a Bundle, so we would also have to remember that Button(_ titleKey:action:) can now only be used in a package if we make sure that the main bundle contains a matching key. Is there a way for us to make sure that strings are always extracted to the same place as they are resolved against by default? Either by having strings in packages extracted to an xcstrings file in the main app or having Text default to resolving against the module bundle by default?

visionOS Window launch size
Before visionOS Beta 4 it was possible to define the launch size in the Info.plist using PreferredLaunchSize like so: <key>UILaunchPlacementParameters</key> <dict> <key>PreferredLaunchSize</key> <dict> <key>Height</key> <integer>750</integer> <key>Width</key> <integer>750</integer> </dict> </dict> In visionOS Beta 4 this now doesn't work anymore and the window opens in a 16:9 format and then will scale down to the .defaultSize of the WindowGroup with an animation. Settings, Notes, Safari still open with a different default size though, including the launch screen. How are we supposed to do this now?

New UIButton title left aligned
Hello There, I was trying to do a Button with title left aligned. With the old UIButton, I would have used the title-/contentEdgeInsets to achieve this, but with the new button these values are deprecated and do not work anymore. As far as I understood, with the new button only the spacing between the elements (sub-, title and image) is controllable. I also tried just setting the buttons width to the same width as the label, what would be possible in my case since it should be kind of a "hyperlink-button" which has no background or border. This works so far, but once the user interacts with the button, the title label gets multiline, which is on the one hand not wanted and on the other hand of course does not look left aligned anymore. (Besides the buttons height is fix in my case which leads to clipping of the title) So here again in short: Is there any way to make the title of the new UIButton left aligned inside of the button? Infinite loop getting "_dismiss changed"
I'm working on a NavigationStack based app. Somewhere I'm using: @Environment(\.dismiss) private var dismiss and when trying to navigate to that view it gets stuck. I used Self._printChanges() and discovered the environment variable dismiss is changing repeatedly. Obviously I am not changing that variable explicitly. I wasn't able to reproduce this in a small project so far, but does anybody have any idea what kind of thing I could be doing that might be causing this issue? iOS 17.0.3

NavigationSplitView detail view with safearea

Help with trailing closure errors
I am new to swiftui and have a very small project I am working on to practice passing data between views. I have this error on a form "Trailing closure passed to parameter of type 'FormStyleConfiguration' that does not accept a closure" If I comment the first section in the form then I get three errors in the ForEach. If anyone can help explain what is going on and what steps I could take to determine where the problem is coming from I would appreciate the help. EditMode & EditButton not working in a way I expect

NavigationSplitView, tvOS, and view focus
Hello, I have a SwiftUI application that uses NavigationSplitView. It's working great on iOS, iPad, and macOS. I decided to give it a try on tvOS. After it builds, it will not allow user interaction on the NavigationSplitView's sidebar. I've tried various view focus modifiers without any success. I'd also expect this to "just work" as default behavior. I have filed FB13447961 on this issue. Here is a distillation of the code that demonstrates the problem. Any ideas? Obscure assertion crash in com.apple.NSScrollingConcurrentVBLMonitor thread
I have received a few crash reports for my app "Find Any File" with an assertion failure as follows: assertion failure: "displayTiming != ((void *)0)" -&gt; %lld Googling this turns up nothing, though. I wonder if someone has some insight into why this might happen, and how to prevent it. Memory use of app was not critical (in one case it was about 9 GB total, in others below 4 GB). The "Binary Images" section only lists Apple libs, apart from my app's. NavigationSplitView: Make button clickable in detail-section safe area
Hi, I've tried to find a solution for this problem for weeks now but it seems no one knows how to solve it and Apple doesn't seem to care. I have a NavigationSplitView with two columns. In the detail column I have a button - or any other clickable control - which is placed in the very top where usually the safe area resides. The button is NOT clickable when he is in the safe area and I have NO idea why. I know I can place buttons in safe areas of other views and they are clickable. Scroll TextEditor to cursor position
Hello. Is there a good SwiftUI approach on getting the TextEditor cursor position? I have a TextEditor and sometimes when we have a longer text inside it, the cursor is not seen because the keyboard is above covering the bottom of the TextEditor. I would like to somehow detect the position of the cursor, and if it's on the last line of the TextEditor, scroll to the bottom. I've already checked a bit and didn't find any good method of doing this in SwiftUI. If you have any ideas on how to do this, or even a different method any help would be highly appreciated. StoreKit's manageSubscriptionsSheet view modifier not loading
Our app was just rejected by Apple because they say the subscription management sheet never loads. It just spins indefinitely. We're using StoreKit's manageSubscriptionsSheet view modifier to present the sheet, and it's always worked for us when testing in SandBox. Has anyone else had this problem? Given that it's Apple's own code that got us rejected, what's our path forward?

SubscriptionStoreView showing 'The subscription is unavailable in the current storefront.' in production (StoreKit2)
I Implement a 'SubscriptionStoreView' using 'groupID' into a project (iOS is targeting 17.2 and macOS is targeting 14.1).Build/run the application locally (both production and development environments will work fine), however once the application is live on the AppStore in AppStoreConnect, SubscriptionStoreView no longer shows products and only shows 'Subscription Unavailable' and 'The subscription is unavailable in the current storefront.' - this message is shown live in production for both iOS and macOS targets. There is no log messages shown in the Console that indicate anything going wrong with StoreKit 2, but I haven't made any changes to my code and noticed this first start appearing about 5 days ago. I expect the subscription store to be visible to all users and for my products to display. My application is live on both the iOS and macOS AppStores, it passed App Review and I have users who have previously been able to subscribe and use my application, I have not pushed any new changes, so something has changed in StoreKit2 which is causing unexpected behaviour and for this error message to display. As 'SubscriptionStoreView' is a view provided by Apple, I'm really not sure on the pathway forward other than going back to StoreKit1 which I really don't want to do. Is there any further error information that can be provided on what might be causing this and how I can fix it? (I have created a feedback ticket FB13658521)

Viewbased stereoscopic drawing
Is there a way to render stereoscopic (left/right) images in a 2d plane that resides in a swiftUI view? I know this is possible in realityKit shaders, and in immersive metal composits, but is it possible via swiftUI shaders, CAMetalLayer, etc? I'd like to draw a 2d window with standard UI chrome (resize, move etc) that displays stereoscopic content on the flat plane of the window.

TimelineView using ExplicitTimelineSchedule ignores last date?
Hi, everyone. I'm trying my first TimelineView with an explicit schedule, but my attempt – and even the simple example from the documentation – doesn't seem to work as documented. Here's what the documentation says an explicit schedule does: The timeline view updates its content on exactly the dates that you specify, until it runs out of dates, after which it stops changing. And it gives this example: let dates = [ Date(timeIntervalSinceNow: 10), // Update ten seconds from now, Date(timeIntervalSinceNow: 12), // and a few seconds later. ] struct MyView: View { var body: some View { TimelineView(.explicit(dates)) { context in Text(context.date.description) } } } There are stipulations about what the view – which always displays some version of its content body – will do given only past or future dates, but it seems clear we should expect the view in this example to redraw at least once after it appears. Here's the rest of the discussion from the documentation with my comments after testing what's stated: If the dates you provide are in the past, the timeline view updates exactly once with the last entry. That seems true, considering the "update" to be the initial draw. If you only provide dates in the future, the timeline view renders with the current date until the first date arrives. Not exactly: it looks the "date" property of the initial render is the (future) date of the first schedule entry, even though it's drawn early. When the first date does arrive, the body closure doesn't seem to be called. Only on the next date, if there is one, is it called again. If you provide one or more dates in the past and one or more in the future, the view renders the most recent past date, refreshing normally on all subsequent dates. That also seems correct, except… … that in every scenario, the final date entry seems to be ignored completely! In other words, unless all date entries are in the past, the Timeline View stops before it runs out of dates. That documented example from the start, which we expect to redraw at least once after it appears? When I test it in a Playground, it appears, but doesn't redraw at all! So, that's my main point of confusion after experimenting with TimelineView for the first time. I can achieve my own goal by appending an extra entry to my explicit schedule – even appending an entry identical to the previous "final" entry seems to work – but naturally that leaves me unclear about why I need to. If anyone can tell me what I'm not understanding, I'd be grateful.

ScrollView with .viewAligned and .scrollPosition() not updating on orientation (size) changes

Is it possible to control visionOS window handle visibility?
In visionOS, is there a way to temporarily hide the window close/position handle at the bottom of a window? The Safari app does this, so it must be possible.

How to use `.focusedSceneObject()` with @Observable?
According to docs, .focusedObject() usage should be moved to .focusedValue() when migrating to @Observable, but there is no .focusedSceneValue() overload that accepts Observable like with .focusedValue(). So how are we supposed migrate .focusedSceneObject() to @Observable?

Help with trailing closure errors
I am new to swiftui and have a very small project I am working on to practice passing data between views. I have this error on a form "Trailing closure passed to parameter of type 'FormStyleConfiguration' that does not accept a closure" If I comment the first section in the form then I get three errors in the ForEach. If anyone can help explain what is going on and what steps I could take to determine where the problem is coming from I would appreciate the help. EditMode & EditButton not working in a way I expect

NavigationSplitView, tvOS, and view focus
Hello, I have a SwiftUI application that uses NavigationSplitView. It's working great on iOS, iPad, and macOS. I decided to give it a try on tvOS. After it builds, it will not allow user interaction on the NavigationSplitView's sidebar. I've tried various view focus modifiers without any success. I'd also expect this to "just work" as default behavior. I have filed FB13447961 on this issue. Here is a distillation of the code that demonstrates the problem. Any ideas? Obscure assertion crash in com.apple.NSScrollingConcurrentVBLMonitor thread
I have received a few crash reports for my app "Find Any File" with an assertion failure as follows: assertion failure: "displayTiming != ((void *)0)" -&gt; %lld Googling this turns up nothing, though. The other (and older) reports are similar, in macOS 13.6.1 and macOS 13.1. All four happened on ARM architecture (which may not be significant due to small number of samples). Memory use of app was not critical (in one case it was about 9 GB total, in others below 4 GB). The "Binary Images" section only lists Apple libs, apart from my app's. NavigationSplitView: Make button clickable in detail-section safe area
Hi, I've tried to find a solution for this problem for weeks now but it seems no one knows how to solve it and Apple doesn't seem to care. I have a NavigationSplitView with two columns. In the detail column I have a button - or any other clickable control - which is placed in the very top where usually the safe area resides. The button is NOT clickable when he is in the safe area and I have NO idea why. I know I can place buttons in safe areas of other views and they are clickable. Scroll TextEditor to cursor position
Hello. Is there a good SwiftUI approach on getting the TextEditor cursor position? I have a TextEditor and sometimes when we have a longer text inside it, the cursor is not seen because the keyboard is above covering the bottom of the TextEditor. I would like to somehow detect the position of the cursor, and if it's on the last line of the TextEditor, scroll to the bottom. I've already checked a bit and didn't find any good method of doing this in SwiftUI. If you have any ideas on how to do this, or even a different method any help would be highly appreciated. Error message "Failed to set override status for bind point component member."
In my visionOS app, I'm seeing this error in the console dozens of times. Anyone know what it means, or how to troubleshoot it? Searching these forums and the usual other places hasn't come up with anything that seems relevant.

StoreKit's manageSubscriptionsSheet view modifier not loading
Our app was just rejected by Apple because they say the subscription management sheet never loads. It just spins indefinitely. We're using StoreKit's manageSubscriptionsSheet view modifier to present the sheet, and it's always worked for us when testing in SandBox. Has anyone else had this problem? Given that it's Apple's own code that got us rejected, what's our path forward?

SubscriptionStoreView showing 'The subscription is unavailable in the current storefront.' in production (StoreKit2)
I Implement a 'SubscriptionStoreView' using 'groupID' into a project (iOS is targeting 17.2 and macOS is targeting 14.1).Build/run the application locally (both production and development environments will work fine), however once the application is live on the AppStore in AppStoreConnect, SubscriptionStoreView no longer shows products and only shows 'Subscription Unavailable' and 'The subscription is unavailable in the current storefront.' - this message is shown live in production for both iOS and macOS targets. There is no log messages shown in the Console that indicate anything going wrong with StoreKit 2, but I haven't made any changes to my code and noticed this first start appearing about 5 days ago. I expect the subscription store to be visible to all users and for my products to display. My application is live on both the iOS and macOS AppStores, it passed App Review and I have users who have previously been able to subscribe and use my application, I have not pushed any new changes, so something has changed in StoreKit2 which is causing unexpected behaviour and for this error message to display. As 'SubscriptionStoreView' is a view provided by Apple, I'm really not sure on the pathway forward other than going back to StoreKit1 which I really don't want to do. Is there any further error information that can be provided on what might be causing this and how I can fix it? (I have created a feedback ticket FB13658521)

Viewbased stereoscopic drawing
Is there a way to render stereoscopic (left/right) images in a 2d plane that resides in a swiftUI view? I know this is possible in realityKit shaders, and in immersive metal composits, but is it possible via swiftUI shaders, CAMetalLayer, etc? I'd like to draw a 2d window with standard UI chrome (resize, move etc) that displays stereoscopic content on the flat plane of the window.

TimelineView using ExplicitTimelineSchedule ignores last date?
Hi, everyone. I'm trying my first TimelineView with an explicit schedule, but my attempt – and even the simple example from the documentation – doesn't seem to work as documented. Here's what the documentation says an explicit schedule does: The timeline view updates its content on exactly the dates that you specify, until it runs out of dates, after which it stops changing. And it gives this example: let dates = [ Date(timeIntervalSinceNow: 10), // Update ten seconds from now, Date(timeIntervalSinceNow: 12), // and a few seconds later. ] struct MyView: View { var body: some View { TimelineView(.explicit(dates)) { context in Text(context.date.description) } } } There are stipulations about what the view – which always displays some version of its content body – will do given only past or future dates, but it seems clear we should expect the view in this example to redraw at least once after it appears. Here's the rest of the discussion from the documentation with my comments after testing what's stated: If the dates you provide are in the past, the timeline view updates exactly once with the last entry. That seems true, considering the "update" to be the initial draw. If you only provide dates in the future, the timeline view renders with the current date until the first date arrives. Not exactly: it looks the "date" property of the initial render is the (future) date of the first schedule entry, even though it's drawn early. When the first date does arrive, the body closure doesn't seem to be called. Only on the next date, if there is one, is it called again. If you provide one or more dates in the past and one or more in the future, the view renders the most recent past date, refreshing normally on all subsequent dates. That also seems correct, except… … that in every scenario, the final date entry seems to be ignored completely! In other words, unless all date entries are in the past, the Timeline View stops before it runs out of dates. That documented example from the start, which we expect to redraw at least once after it appears? When I test it in a Playground, it appears, but doesn't redraw at all! So, that's my main point of confusion after experimenting with TimelineView for the first time. I can achieve my own goal by appending an extra entry to my explicit schedule – even appending an entry identical to the previous "final" entry seems to work – but naturally that leaves me unclear about why I need to. If anyone can tell me what I'm not understanding, I'd be grateful.
