iOS xcode app, During "Distribute app" get error The archive contains nothing that can be signed
I had successfully distributed my app months ago and trying same today and get "The archive contains nothing that can be signed. Verify that your build process has compiled binaries and copied in bundled resources." message when I click the "Distribute app" button. My project is a simple iOS xcode project that I had success in same operation back on Feb 8, 2024, same project code and settings. Xcode "Connect via network" is stuck, controls disabled
Hi, since a while now, I've noticed that in Xcode 15 (beta 8), my iOS device running iOS 17 (latest beta), I can't seem to disable the setting "Connect via Network" in the Devices and Simulators window. The controls are disabled, and stuck to 'on'. I often also have issues with the 'Installing to device' step while development my apps, where a reboot of the iPad is required. My guess is that it gets stuck/confused how it is supposed to deploy and my network setup is a bit complicated due to VPN's, tight WiFi security etc. Unpairing the device doesn't help with resetting this setting. After unpairing the top-right header (with the Take Screenshot controls etc...) even still shows the details of the unpaired device. Anyone else has experienced this or know a solution.

Any solution yet to not being able to turn off debugging via WiFI?
Debugger on Xcode 16.x is super slow and it turns out it's only this way when Xcode is connected to my iPhone via WiFi. If I disable WiFI on my iPhone everything is just fine. But that's not a solution. An engineer posted this supposed solution, https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode-release-notes/xcode-15-release-notes. Forgive me but that's not a solution, especially since we used to be able to shut off "Connect via WiFI." I've seen so many posts here and everywhere else with no one stating any clear answer. Does anyone know why has this been removed? And is anyone aware of it? I've posted in the Feedback Asst. as many others have. What gives?

How can I find the error in a TestFlight crash report?
I have uploaded my app to App Store Connect TestFlight. Then I have downloaded it in TestFlight on my iPad. But the app always crashes a few seconds after opening. It seems to be always the same issue. I have a few crash reports in App Store Connect-->App name-->TestFlight-->Feedback-->Crashs. I have opened a crash report in Xcode but I don´t find the error that causes the crash. How can I find the error in Xcode? Is it possible to find the class and line in the class where the crash happened? In addition, how can I export a crash report from Xcode? The crash doesn´t happen in debug mode on my iPad, it only happens when I install and open my app after downloading it from TestFlight on my iPad.

Instruments showing incorrect values
Hello, I’m encountering an issue with the Instruments app while running a benchmark on an M2 Ultra Mac Studio. Despite being certain that GPU activities involving memory read and write operations are occurring, all related performance counters consistently return 0. Interestingly, this problem does not occur when using the same code on an M1 MacBook Air, where the counters behave as expected. What could be causing this discrepancy? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Fetch Changes not working Xcode 16.2
I have cloned a private repo from GitHub and for the most part it seems to be working fine. e.g. commit, push and pull are working. However, Fetch Changes doesn't seem to work at all. It pops up a brief message as if it is working, but the status of my local branch under the Source Control Navigator -> Repositories does not get updated. Even after a push, the status still tells me I am ahead on the local branch. If I add a new file on the GitHub website, Fetch Changes will not see it and the repository status remains unchanged. All of these changes are immediately visible in 'Fork' (3rd party Git GUI). If I restart Xcode the status is updated correctly, but it does not keep up with further changes. Anything I can do other than avoid using Xcode for GitHub tasks? Update: This might just be a problem with the Source Control Navigator views not updating. I just found that if I change branch, the "Repositories" section will not reflect the branch change until I exit and re-enter that view. e.g. click on "Changes" and back into "Repositores" to see the update. That workaround does not impact the out of date repo status though (how many commits am I ahead or behind). Seems very buggy...

App Crashes instantly in Test Flight
Hi everyone! I recently developed an app (sort of a social media app), built in React Native Expo. I have finally after months of coding, completed the App. It works completely fine and passes all my testcases on multiple devices. It has also passed Apples review and after a few tries become stable on all their devices. However, when I released it to TestFlight, it opens and crashes immediately? I have tried numerous fixes, error boundaries etc. but to no avail. I am really struggling here, I can't seem to replicate the error at all even in Xcode. It seems to just crash on open where the splashscreen flashes, not sure why? I have attached the crash report and redacted the TEAM_ID and DEVICE_ID. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is it possible to publish an article on this forum?
Hello, forum admins. Thank you for your work in maintaining the forum in an active working condition. I have a question for you. Is it possible here, on the forum, not only to ask questions and get answers, but also to conduct technical discussions on current programming issues? For example, I would like to publish an article on design programming patterns and hear the opinions of other programmers working in this direction. I know that there are resources where we can publish articles. But here is the most big and active community of programmers using Apple technologies and it would be great to have the opportunity to publish articles here and organize thematic discussions. Best regards, John

Unable to use XCode Auto-sign for a project with network + system extension
Hi, We are developing software that configures a network extension via a system extension on MacOS. The host application (run as service) enables network extension and system extension capabilities. It registers the network extension. The network extension has network extension capabilities and configures an app-group to be bundled into the service. What we have built is already working, i.e. we build, sign, notarize and ship the code (it's already running on hundreds of SIP enabled customer devices in production). But, we are currently falling back to manual profile management (i.e. download and import the profile) so that Xcode accepts the entitlements suffixed with -systemextention. Recently we are testing deployment on iOS devices. For iOS profiles we cannot overcome the issues with setting the profile manually, XCode complains about mismatching networkextension entitlements even when manually importing the profile. So I thought I get to the bottom of why automated signing is not working and hopefully overcome the issues with iOS. Upon configuring automatic signing we ran into the following problem: For a network extension that is installed via a system extension the network extension capabilities are expected to be defined with a -systemextension suffix, i.e.: <key>com.apple.developer.system-extension.install</key> <true/> <key>com.apple.developer.networking.networkextension</key> <array> <string>packet-tunnel-provider-systemextension</string> <string>app-proxy-provider-systemextension</string> <string>content-filter-provider-systemextension</string> <string>dns-proxy-systemextension</string> <string>dns-settings</string> <string>relay</string> When using automated signing the profile in our development account reflects these settings, i.e. the profile is correctly generated with the values above. However, XCode complains that the network extension capabilities don't match. I went as far as to configuring a new application-ID so that XCode would generate a new profile in the development account. I then downloaded and decoded the generated profile. The capabilities of the development portal profile were created as expected (as above), but somehow, the locally generated profile that is generated by XCode auto-sign expects: <key>com.apple.developer.system-extension.install</key> <true/> <key>com.apple.developer.networking.networkextension</key> <array> <string>app-proxy-provider</string> <string>content-filter-provider</string> <string>packet-tunnel-provider</string> <string>dns-proxy</string> <string>dns-settings</string> <string>relay</string> What XCode auto-sign expects is not reflected in the development account profile (!). I tried to overcome this by changing the entitlements of the project to omit the -systemextension suffix. XCode auto-sign seemingly works then, but once the application is actually signed by CodeSign the signing fails because the capabilities don't match with the development account profile. I tried profile re-generation by clearing Library/Developer/Xcode/UserData/Provisioning Profiles, but it always results in the same problem - either XCode is happy and the code signing fails when building, or the other way round. Bottom Line: I think that somehow XCode evaluates the profile validity differently from CodeSign; somehow when using automatic signing XCode does not take the network extension + system extension into account, but only expects the capabilities of the network extension. If anybody know how to overcome this problem please help :)

Export archive fails due to No signing certificate "iOS Distribution" found

We also have verified that our certificates are valid and successfully uploaded to TestFlight using these certificates on the local Xcode environment. This appears to be an issue on the Xcode Cloud side as no significant configuration changes were made on our end.

Why does Xcode's Minimum Deployments only let you select N.6?
I want to set the minimum deployment to 16.0, however Xcode (16.2) won't let me select that. In the drop down box it shows 18,17,16,15, however if any of these is selected it sets them as 18.6, 17.6, 16.6 or 15.6 (see image) If an attempt is made to edit the value manually, to 16.0, then after change it, Xcode just deletes that value and sets it to nothing. What's going on here? Why is Xcode only allowing the version other than be something.6 and why will it not let you manually edit it?

App review delay for critical bug fix in Trizz app
Is there anyone here who can provide an answer, or is it related to someone who belongs to the App Review department at Apple? We uploaded an app to the App Store and discovered a bug that disables activity. We uploaded an update with the bug fix and now we are waiting for Apple to review the latest version and approve uploading it to the store. Thousands of users are waiting and leaving us. Losses of a lot of money and more importantly - a bad user experience. If there is anyone here who can help us, or knows someone who can speed up the process, we are more than happy!!! It is critical and urgent. And yes, we signed up for Apple's fast track program... It didn't help. Thanks!

TipUIPopoverViewController can be referenced below iOS 17 without a compiler error and it shouldn't
We have found a runtime crash using TipUIPopoverViewController because Xcode didn't warn about its usage when using a deployment target of iOS 16, without a proper #if available verification. In Xcode Version 16.2 (16C5032a), using swift code, TipUIPopoverViewController can be used without if #available(iOS 17, *) without even trigger a warning or compiler error. This is the snippet we're using in a UIViewController, and it compiles without a warning. @objc private func myMethod() { if presentedViewController is TipUIPopoverViewController { // do something } } Of course this triggers a runtime error, specifically, a EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I was expecting that the same way Xcode warns us when we're using Tips and Tips.Status with iOS 16, this would also trigger a compilation error.

Feedback - Can you provide renewal status to account page?
Hi recently when I renewed my Developer account, which had expired I found out it takes 24 hours for the active to be renewed. But your account page does not provide notice of this, and was very confusing for me! I had to spend the time to contact support to find this out - can we please just have a 'renewal pending' status instead displayed to our developer's accounts? I would greatly appreciate this! Best Regards, Justin

XCTestCase Async Setup Function Always Causes Leak in Instruments
I'm developing a library and using XCTest for unit tests. While trying to profile the test suite, I noticed that Instruments seems to report a leak every single time the async throwing setup function is called, no matter what. For example, This will report a leak: final class LeakTests: XCTestCase { override func setUp() async throws { try await super.setUp() } func testLeak() async throws { try await Task.sleep(nanoseconds: 5_000_000_000) } } This will not report a leak: final class LeakTests: XCTestCase { // override func setUp() async throws { // try await super.setUp() // } func testLeak() async throws { try await Task.sleep(nanoseconds: 5_000_000_000) } } Any ideas on why this might be happening, or should I just file a bug report? It makes it quite difficult to use the leak detection for unit tests, as it shows hundreds of leaks when the whole suite is ran.
