"mapped file has no cdhash, completely unsigned?" when cdhash exists
Hi, I have created a conda python environment which I have packaged into a .tar.gz (using conda-pack) and which runs correctly when extracted (in this example, it only contains the scipy package). However, when I sign the necessary files within the environment (i.e. the binaries, the dylibs, the .so files), attempting to load scipy.sparse now fails with the error "mapped file has no cdhash, completely unsigned" about one of the .so files. Furthermore, I believe that this file does in fact have a cdhash. The signing process represented by my example below has been working for about a year, and I am unsure why it has suddenly stopped working. I am on a 2020 MacBook Pro with an i7 processor and running Sequoia 15.1.1. Here is a minimal example showing the creating of the conda environment, codesigning, and the error message. Proper Provisiong Profile for Finder Sync Extension
Hi all, I'm developing a simple Finder Sync Extension, using Xcode 16.3. When running in Debug with Xcode, everything works fine. Instead, when compiling in Release and launching the containing app (by double-clicking on it), the Extension is not recognized (neither loaded) by the system. The only difference between Debug and Release stands in Signing configuration: Debug: Release: As you can see, in Release I'm using a Provisiong Profile, configured with my company's Developer ID. I'm wondering if Capabilities and Entitlements are not what is needed by my app. Anyway, I have no idea what the issue is. Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thank you in advance _Alex

Unable to edit problematic keychain-access-groups setting of downloaded provisioningprofile for signing
In an expo managed project which utilizes custom expo plugins, we're having trouble getting the keychain-access-groups entitlement inserted to our provisioningprofile for signing. The provisioning profile we download from apple dev portal contains: <key>keychain-access-groups</key> <array> <string>56APMZ7FZY.*</string> <string>com.apple.token</string> </array> and this is not recognized by xcode for signing; an error is thrown: Provisioning profile "ccpp" doesn't include the com.apple.developer.keychain-access-groups entitlement. A matching error is thrown during EAS build. So we need to find a way to modify the ccpp.mobileprovision locally and then sign the build using the modified ccpp.mobileprovision. Or, we need guidance on the proper way to resolve this situation. Questions: why does the downloaded mobileprovision file have the keychain-access-groups key, and not com.apple.developer.keychain-access-groups? Both Xcode and EAS appear to demand the latter keyname. when I use expo prebuild, I am able to see the following in the .entitlements file: <key>com.apple.developer.keychain-access-groups</key> <array> <string>$(AppIdentifierPrefix)com.myapp</string> </array> I am adding this entitlement using a custom expo plugin. However, the mobileprovision file downloaded from apple developer portal has no knowledge of this setting which is only applied through expo prebuild. So what I am left with at the end is an entitlements file generated by my expo prebuild which has the correct setting, and a provisioningprofile downloaded from dev portal with an incorrect setting, and I don't know how to mend the downloaded provisioningprofile (incorrect setting) with my local entitlements file (correct setting).

codesign - edited signature
Hey all! I'm building a Python based app with PySide6-deploy. This gives me a .app directory with all the necessary things already in it. To be able to distribute this I provided just the .app path to the codesign looking like this: codesign -s "My Name" --keychain "keychain" -f --deep RenderRob.app If I try to check or sign the package, it looks promising: codesign --verify ... RenderRob.app: valid on disk RenderRob.app: satisfies its Designated Requirement Unfortunately this signed package does not work when checking with spctl. spctl --assess --verbose RenderRob.app/Contents/MacOS/libcrypto.3.dylib RenderRob.app/Contents/MacOS/libcrypto.3.dylib: rejected If I look in the log of the notarizing, I saw that something is off with signature of the binary dependencies. Then I checked the binary dependencies, it turns out it complains about an edited signature: codesign -dv -verbose=4 RenderRob.app/Contents/MacOS/libcrypto.3.dylib RenderRob.app/Contents/MacOS/libcrypto.3.dylib: edited signature Mach-O thin (arm64) [com.dreisicht.renderrob] I then also tried to move this into RendeRob.app/Contents/Frameworks, but there it's also having the same issue. Any idea what this could be?

I can't distribute the build to Testflight
Hi the best community! Xcode Version 16.0 I assume that there is something related to code signing and our company name in App Store connect: Medical Institution “NPH” (The company name has been anonymized for privacy purposes.) I am trying to distribute my Unity app to test flight. Bundle ID is: com.Squaricon.TondoJigsaw2 When I change bundle ID to com.testasd.TondoJigsaw2 (I do this in Xcode before archiving) that error disappears and I reach the part where I have to pick language. Even though this is not the solution, I think it is interesting, it implies issue might be with Bundle ID but this bundle ID is correct. I am using "automatically manage signing", I did not create any provisioning profile or certificate manually.

Codesign in a CI environment (Sequoia)
Can someone please describe what is necessary to perform signing using codesign in a system that runs as LaunchDaemon. All workarounds like placing the codesigning cert + private key a custom keychain and unlock it in the session of the LaunchDaemon doesn't work anymore on Sequoia. Or are there alternatives for signing MachO binaries without codesign?

Unnotarized Developer ID
I'm new to notarizing applications. I'm building an Electron application using electron-packager. The signing looks solid: codesign -vvv --deep --strict path/to/app.app # satisfies its Designated Requirement But checking notarization, looks like it didn't work. spctl --assess -vv path/to/app.app # source=Unnotarized Developer ID # origin=Developer ID Application: Tyson XXXX (XXXXX) I'm wondering how to fix the "Unnotarized Developer ID". Notarization taking 12+ hours
I submitted a Mac application for a safari ad blocker extension about 15 hours ago and it's still in progress. Is it normal for notarization to take this long? How to sign dylib to be able to use Java JNI on Mac OS 15
Hi, I'm doing Java 22 experiments with open source package "wgpu-macos-aarch64-release" on my Mac M3. This library contains a .dylib file and a .a file. In Java you can load native dynamic libraries using JNI. I used that in the past. Now in MacOS 15 this stopped working. Currently, I compile my Java file and run the binary file on the command line, including the library directory. The application would load the library from that directory. This should normally works but the library is not loaded. After some investigation it seems the .dylib is rejected by MacOS. Calling spctl --assess --verbose=4 libwgpu_native.dylib gives libwgpu_native.dylib: rejected without any extra reason message. Using sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine libwgpu_native.dylib doesn't solve the problem. I also can't "accept" it in "Privacy & Security" because it's run as a command line call. I know that code signing should be done for "complete" applications. But these are just experiments and working with single dynamic libraries. How should this be done, to be able to load those libraries in a Java command line program? Or in general, how can you load an unsigned dylib in an application (apart from using Java as a tool). notary tool consistently delay for 1 of my app even it already accepted multiple times

I have viewed all your suggestions and understand that it "occasionally" will have further review and take longer time, but then it will be faster. Suddenly receiving "Attempted to install a Beta profile without the proper entitlement" on a Flutter-based app
Hello! I'm suddenly having some difficulty debugging a Flutter-based app. When I run an app from VS Code, it launches Xcode and builds & installs the app on an iPhone running 18.1. However, once the app is installed on the phone, it disappears and in Xcode, a dialog appears with: Failed to install embedded profile for : 0xe800801f (Attempted to install a Beta profile without the proper entitlement.) However, when I look at the provisioning profile being used, it seems to have the correct entitlement: I've also tried enabling automatic signing (instead of the current manual signing using match), as well as generating an adhoc profile and re-adding the device UDID in developers.apple.com. None of these have worked. This issue appeared within the past day or so and was working fine yesterday with no code changes, so I've been stumped. All my certs are relatively new and were issued within the past few months. I've tried regenerating the provisioning profiles using match, but this gives the same thing. What's odd is that I can run the build and upload to testflight, then download and install the app just fine through there. But this obviously makes debugging an issue.

dumb move - I deleted my developer id private keys
Can you please revoke my developer id application and installer certs? So i may recreate. I deleted the private key by mistake before realizing i cannot recreate everything using the developer website portal. I dont have macos backup or did i backup my certs with attached pkey. NotaryTool failing with invalid server certificate
Hi All. I'm having a notarization issue trying to get a product built. Starting around the beginning of April, I have a notarization process failing every time with an invalid server certificate. The build server in this case is running Jenkins, with a Makefile driven notarization stage. It all worked perfectly until a build on April 3rd, all builds have failed since. I have tried using '--no-s3-acceleration'. But that fails even faster with: Conducting pre-submission checks for ICFA.zip and initiating connection to the Apple notary service... Submission ID received id: d50a2157-7acb-4bd6-b1d1-6d0b1d52d5c9 Error: The operation couldn’t be completed. (Network.NWError error 2.) Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Right now I have folks needing a valid build. Thanks in advance.

"this identity cannot be used for signing code"
When building to macOS on GameMaker, I get the error "this identity cannot be used for signing code" when using the Developer ID Installer certificate. The certificate was neither expired nor revoked, but nonetheless I created new certificates to start fresh but am still getting that error. I don't get issues building to iOS via GameMaker, just to macOS. If it makes any difference, I only noticed this issue started happening after I converted my Apple Developer Program account from an individual account to an organizational account, although it was weeks to months before I built to macOS via GameMaker before then, so I don't know if it correlates with that.

Unable to validate with app sandbox issues
My app is a Safari extension. When trying to validate the app, I get the following error: App sandbox not enabled. The following executables must include the "com.apple.security.app-sandbox" entitlement with a Boolean value of true in the entitlements property list: [( "app.rango.Rango.pkg/Payload/Rango for Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Rango for Safari" )] Refer to App Sandbox page at https://developer.apple.com/documentation/security/app_sandbox for more information on sandboxing your app. I don't know why this is happening. I have app sandbox enabled in both the app and the extension target. I have both entitlement files. When executing codesign -d --entitlements :- /path/to/binary I get the following: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "https://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"><plist version="1.0"><dict><key>com.apple.security.app-sandbox</key><true/><key>com.apple.security.files.user-selected.read-only</key><true/><key>com.apple.security.get-task-allow</key><true/><key>com.apple.security.network.client</key><true/></dict></plist> If I check on Activity Monitor, on the sandbox column it shows true. I have no idea why I keep getting this error when all indicates that the app is actually sandboxed.

Getting a public service app not to send scary messages
I’ve developed a macOS app, but I’ve had trouble using a script to fully codesign it and package it into a .dmg file. I was only able to complete codesigning using the third-party app itself—not via command-line scripts. Is it possible to write a script that automates the entire process of codesigning the app? To provide the best user experience for those downloading the app outside of the Mac App Store, is it correct to first package it as a .app and then wrap that into a .dmg file for distribution? Currently, the app is available on the web as a .dmg. When downloaded, it appears in a folder and can be double-clicked to launch. However, macOS displays a warning that it was downloaded from the internet. Can I use a script to remove that quarantine warning? If possible, I’d appreciate a step-by-step explanation and a sample command-line script to: Codesign the app properly Package it into a signed .dmg Remove the quarantine attribute for local testing or distribution Is the reason I was only able to codesign it inside the third-party app due to how that app was built, or can this always be done from the command line?

PUT THE KEYS IN THE BAG
I am having the most difficult time trying to figure out the process for just getting my development .p12 figured out. Full disclosure, being a windows user does not make my life any easier. Seems fairly straightforward on a mac (which I do not have) So I thought I would come here and see if I could collect information on getting working certs and keys on windows pc. Here's what I have so far: -OpenSSL -openssl req -nodes -newkey rsa:2048 -keyout private_key.key -out cer_sign_request.csr Generates a key and a sign request. went to dev portal submit CSR --> recieved CER -back to OpenSSL -openssl x509 -in ios_development.cer -inform DER -out ios_development.pem -outform PEM CER-->PEM -openssl pkcs12 -export -inkey keyname.key -in ios_development.pem -out ios_development.p12 -"No cert in -in file 'ios_development.pem' matches private key" so here I am. Lost. Mind you I've tried the process in a few different ways and now I am on a mission to find my "private_key" somehow with no way to access keychain. I dunno feels convuluted. for good reason I am sure. If anyone has a streamlined version of how to get this done I will be forever indebted to you. Your time is greatly appreciated. for futher context I am just trying to get an eas build on my phone from expo. Thankyou!

dlopen on development iPhone codesign issue
Hi, For the purposes of iteration speed in development builds, on an iPhone in development mode, I am attempting to use hot reloaded dylibs. The goal is that the app is rarely fully restarted and small code changes can be applied quickly, drastically reducing iteration speed. For this purpose I have a socket server on my Mac that sends changed dylibs to my app on my iPhone. This works great on Mac, however on iOS i am running into codesigning problems. I am using the following to codesign the dylib: codesign -f -s XXX --timestamp=none testlibrary-ios.dylib I am placing the downloaded dylib in this folder: const char* cachedirectoryPath = [NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSCachesDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES)[0] UTF8String]; dlopen gives me the following error: dlopen(/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/67A3D31B-6F72-4939-9E7F-665FC78CDC61/Library/Caches/testlibrary-ios.dylib, 0x000A): tried: '/usr/lib/system/introspection/testlibrary-ios.dylib' (no such file, not in dyld cache), '/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/67A3D31B-6F72-4939-9E7F-665FC78CDC61/Library/Caches/testlibrary-ios.dylib' (code signature invalid in <78A101AD-D756-3526-8754-8B7F4925DE90> '/private/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/67A3D31B-6F72-4939-9E7F-665FC78CDC61/Library/Caches/testlibrary-ios.dylib' (errno=1) sliceOffset=0x00000000, codeBlobOffset=0x0000C2E0, codeBlobSize=0x00004990), .... Is loading a dylib like this on iPhones in development mode possible? Any idea what is going wrong with codesigning or installing the dylib? (Obviously this code is never deployed in an app that goes on the AppStore)
