Hi. I am writing a little MDM application. Despite the basic task (add a password for 'remove profile' button in settings), it seems I am stuck with a problem: When I try to enroll my device with enrollment.mobileconfig file, Apple Configurator app, I receive an error The profile “Enrollment Profile” could not be installed because it is invalid. Make sure the profile is valid and try installing it again. The original architecture of my .mobileconfig contains of two payloads (com.apple.security.scep , com.apple.mdm), and it works correctly. However, when I try to add a third payload of com.apple.profileRemovalPassword , I receive the error stated above. From logs collected on iPhone, here's what was found : Failed to parse profile data. Error: NSError: Desc : The profile “Enrollment Profile” is invalid. Sugg : A profile containing an MDM payload must be removable. US Desc: The profile “Enrollment Profile” is invalid. US Sugg: A profile containing an MDM payload must be removable. Several important notes: Creating a fresh new profile with just password removal protection single payload allows to perform a download of the profile If I comment out the whole com.apple.mdm payload block, I will be able to download this profile on iPhone also The com.apple.mdm block is also valid by itself, and works correctly I have tried implementing other types of "dummy" payloads - for example com.apple.dock <dict> <key>PayloadType</key> <string>com.apple.dock</string> <key>PayloadVersion</key> <integer>1</integer> <key>PayloadIdentifier</key> <string>com.example.test.dock</string> <key>PayloadUUID</key> <string>22222222-3333-4444-5555-666666666666</string> <key>PersistentApps</key> <array/> </dict> And everything worked out fine. So my hypothetical conclusion out of these four notes might be in some type of interconnection between mdm and profileRemovalPassword, which isn't really listed anywhere? Or am I missing something ? Hello, I have an Apple Developer Enterprise account, and Apple Support has already enabled MDM for my account. I successfully downloaded and installed my MDM Vendor Certificate (it shows up in Keychain as MDM Vendor: [My Company Name] with its private key). Here’s what I’ve done so far: Exported the Vendor Certificate + private key as a .p12, then converted to .pem and .key using OpenSSL. Generated an unsigned CSR with CN=com.apple.mgmt.External. using OpenSSL. Attempted to sign the CSR using: my Vendor certificate the Vendor private key Apple Worldwide Developer Relations (WWDR) intermediate certificate OpenSSL smime -sign command with DER output Problem: Every time I try to upload the vendor-signed CSR to the Apple Push Certificates Portal, I get an error (CSR rejected). Sometimes OpenSSL even fails with “unable to load certificates” depending on how the WWDR certificate is included. My Questions: What is the correct OpenSSL command and certificate chain Apple expects for signing the CSR? Do I need to include any additional intermediates besides WWDR? Is there an official Apple reference example for generating the vendor-signed CSR that the Push Certificates Portal will accept? We are trying to develop an app that will be responsible for managing 5000+ managed iPads through Intune MDM. The user flow is to have a device locked to a single app when a user is not logged in, but to make the device available to other apps once a user is authenticated. We already tried UIAccessibility GuidedAccess Mode and autonomous single app mode but those were not sufficient due to our need to be able to toggle this from the background. When the device may be asleep. So another way we could achieve this functionality would be to control all app access under a launching mechanism. That way we could allow one app to be visible in our MDM configuration and try to access our business app through that using deep links. If this were to work, we would have to be able to hide an app and still make it launchable from the manager. Any ideas? Thanks

Hello, We are working with an iOS app that is distributed as a Public Unlisted App Store app. Our MDM allows us to import the app by URL, but when added this way, the app is marked as unmanaged in the inventory. Because of that, we cannot assign a Managed App Configuration payload to it in the normal way. What we are trying to achieve: Deliver a configuration profile to all enrolled devices before the app is installed. When the user installs the app from the MDM catalog, the app should immediately see the configuration values. Questions we’re hoping to clarify: Is it technically feasible to pre-provision a Managed App Configuration for an app in this scenario, by pushing a .mobileconfig profile to all devices? If yes, what would be the correct payload format and content of such a .mobileconfig file? We’ve tested a profile format we found here that uses com.apple.managed-app-config PayloadType and a ManagedAppConfiguration key with the bundle ID nested inside, but iOS reports this as “payload not recognized.” From what we understand, that may not be part of Apple’s schema. Any guidance from Apple or the community on whether this use case is possible (and, if so, what the valid profile format should look like) would be very helpful. Hi everyone, We manage several macs through Microsoft Intune. We've deployed Platform SSO using the password based method (not the Secure Enclave) and have also enforced filevault encryption through policy. What we're trying to achieve is that multiple users can log into the same Mac. For example, I (the initial enrolling user) can log in without issues. However, we want a colleague to be able to log in as well if they're physically in front of the mac. The challenge we've run into is that once filevault is enabled (We're not sure about it but reading on forums it seems that the problem is filevault), it seems the network is not available at the login screen. This means that while the first user can create a mobile account and log in, a second user can't do the same. The moment we try to log in with another set of credentials, we get an immediate error and the password field shakes instantly, suggesting it's not even reaching out to the network or directory to validate the credentials. We'd like to confirm if this behavior is expected when FileVault is active and whether the only solution is to disable FileVault or if there are alternative solutions to allow network connectivity at the login screen. Essentially, we want to know if there's a way to let a second user log in without having to turn off disk encryption. Or if we can pre-authorize a set of users on the mac in order to create all the mobile account needed.. Thanks in advance! Thomas

Nuestra cuenta está aprobada como MDM Vendor y necesitamos emitir por primera vez el certificado APNs para MDM en el portal de Push Certificates. Procedimiento seguido Primero hemos descargado desde nuestra cuenta de Apple Developer el certificado de MDM Vendor y lo hemos instalado en el ordenador. Esto lo hemos hecho para que, al lanzar la instrucción de OpenSSL, se pueda utilizar el UUID gestionado por Apple y así generar el CSR de forma correcta. La instrucción que estamos ejecutando es la siguiente: openssl req -new -newkey rsa:2048 -nodes -keyout mdm_private.key -out mdm.csr -subj "/O=Numbux/OU=MDM/CN=com.apple.mgmt.External." El CSR resultante es puro (no está firmado ni empaquetado) y está generado con RSA 2048 y SHA256. Sin embargo, al subirlo al portal de Push Certificates, seguimos recibiendo el error “invalid signing request”. Before iOS26.1, allowCamera set false, all app can't use camera. On iOS26.1, allowCamera set false, removes camera icon from the Home Screen, but third app can still use camera, such as Safari and other apps that can call camera. Is it a bug or a new features？

Hello, I am building a Content Filter app for iOS and would like to get access to some information about network connections that are happening on the device. I managed to have the handle(_ report: NEFilterReport) method of my NEFilterControlProvider called, but the bytesOutboundCount and bytesInboundCount properties of the report are always 0. How can I have the real byte count of the connection ?

I have an in house application that I develop for my company. The application requires our corporate MDM profile is installed on the phone. I recently got a new phone and our corporate IT team installed the MDM profile and the Comp Portal application for me to manage our corporate applications. I installed the application through the Comp Portal. It crashes right away when I launch the application and I see this error message in the Console when connected to the phone: "SpringBoard Snapshot generation request for bundleID: com.mycompany.mygroup.appName rejected due to the app being denylisted." I see other errors from runningboardd about failing to spawn the job and SpringBoard Bootstrapping failed for &lt;FBApplicationProcess: 0x510affd80; app&lt;com.mycompany.mygroup.appName&gt;:&gt; with error: &lt;NSError: 0x301e60090; domain: RBSRequestErrorDomain; code: 5; "Launch failed."&gt; I can launch a development version of the application with no problem by connecting the USB cable from my machine to my device and running through XCode. Other people have no problems launching the application. I compared all the certificates in the management profile with another device where the application does not crash and there are identical. We checked a number of settings on the devices to see if there could be something preventing the application from running but found nothing. We reset all settings and deleted and reinstalled the application with rebooting to see if perhaps it was an incomplete installation. Our IT folks want to wipe the phone and start over but I have little confidence that will fix the issue since we don't know the root cause. I am concerned that one of my Stakeholders might have the same issue if they get a new device. This application worked fine on my old phone. Device: iPhone 16 Pro Max iOS version: 18.2.1 Any ideas on next steps to troubleshoot this issue? How can I figure out the cause of the denylisting?

When using the SoftwareUpdateEnforcementSpecific to target an update to iPad OS 18.7.1, will the update be triggered to be downloaded immediately after the iPad has an active Internet connectivity? Or, if the SoftwareUpdateSettingsAutomaticActionsObject download string is set to AlwaysOff, will this mean that the update enforced will not start downloading automatically, but only when the user decides? I am trying to understand how these two can be combined together or if they work independently, as while trying to enforce a specific version, we need to eliminate the possibility to download an iPad OS version using cellular data, as our devices have an eSIM installed and the cost of using that for the iOS updates will be quite high. Maybe there is a setting to only allow the iOS updates to be downloaded via Wi-Fi. Thanks!

During MDM Automated Device Enrollment of Apple TV, the web view defined by configuration_web_url is not working. We are using the web view to display the usage policy for all devices. While the web view functions correctly for other devices, it is resulting in an error specifically for Apple TV. Could you please clarify whether Apple plans to implement support for this feature on Apple TV in the future or if it will not be supported? It seems like there are some "mixed messages" out there about what should be in OID 1.2.840.113635.100.8.11.1 in the attestation cert. Is it just a SHA256 hash of the nonce issued by the ACME server? The MDM profile yaml says: "In the attestation certificate the value of the freshness code OID matches the nonce specified by the ACME server via the ACME protocol." I'm hoping the difficulty we're seeing is down to the certificate being created once (and not again for 7 days). Otherwise, we're not decoding/understanding the OID's contents properly. Thanks.

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I am struggling to understand what our options are for app distribution for a new (to our company) use case. Note: we have both an Enterprise account as well as a standard App Store account. We are developing an Apple Vision app for a client company. We need to be able to distribute the app to people within our company as well as within the client company for testing. Once that is complete, we need to be able to distribute the app to a select group of employees in the client company. The client company does not have an MDM, so we originally thought to distribute the app using TestFlight. But that is not available with our Enterprise account. Is this something we can manage with a Business account since the devices involved would belong to our client company instead of ours? Is there a different solution to this workflow within the existing tools provided by Apple? Or is the only option to help the client set up an MDM/set up our own MDM to manage client devices for this?
