How do I handle force-quit in Swift
How do I handle force quit in Swift? I received crash reports during a tesflight test. I didn't understand what it was: none of my app's symbols were present, and Xcode didn't want them either... unlike two others who were very specific. By doing a few Google queries, I saw that [UIApplication _terminateWithStatus:] + 136 (UIApplication.m:7578). Accompanied by a SIGSEV... corresponded to a simple thing: it's a crash during a force quit. I tested it with two iPhones, connected to my Mac, and launched the app from Xcode on each of them. I waited a bit, then quit it. It immediately went into the background and waited to launch operations with BackgroundTaskManager. I went to the app carousel and quit it with a swipe of my finger. I immediately see in the log that "sceneDidDisconnect" from SceneDelegate is called... then the immediate crash occurs, with the same elements as those received during the test flight crashlog.crash : SIGSEV and [UIApplication _terminateWithStatus:] and identical elements thereafter. And this applies regardless of what I put in "SceneDidDisconnect," a print, and something to close the BGtasks if they are running (but iOS should normally kill them too, right?) .. 1 or 2 secondes after it crashes. At the moment of the crash, the Xcode cursor is positioned on "class Appdelegate" in AppDelegate. class AppDelegate: UIResponder, UIApplicationDelegate, UNUserNotificationCenterDelegate { My question is: how do I handle force quit in Swift? I have another Objective-C application that does the same thing and runs identical operations in the background. If I force quit it, there is no crash.

Background Tasks runs foreground
Hello everyone! I'm having a problem with background tasks running in the foreground. When a user enters the app, a background task is triggered. I've written some code to check if the app is in the foreground and to prevent the task from running, but it doesn't always work. Sometimes the task runs in the background as expected, but other times it runs in the foreground, as I mentioned earlier. Could it be that I'm doing something wrong? Any suggestions would be appreciated. here is code: class BackgroundTaskService { @Environment(\.scenePhase) var scenePhase static let shared = BackgroundTaskService() private init() {} // MARK: - create task func createCheckTask() { let identifier = TaskIdentifier.check BGTaskScheduler.shared.getPendingTaskRequests { requests in if requests.contains(where: { $0.identifier == identifier.rawValue }) { return } self.createByInterval(identifier: identifier.rawValue, interval: identifier.interval) } } private func createByInterval(identifier: String, interval: TimeInterval) { let request = BGProcessingTaskRequest(identifier: identifier) request.earliestBeginDate = Date(timeIntervalSinceNow: interval) scheduleTask(request: request) } // MARK: submit task private func scheduleTask(request: BGProcessingTaskRequest) { do { try BGTaskScheduler.shared.submit(request) } catch { // some actions with error } } // MARK: background actions func checkTask(task: BGProcessingTask) { let today = Calendar.current.startOfDay(for: Date()) let lastExecutionDate = UserDefaults.standard.object(forKey: "lastCheckExecutionDate") as? Date ?? Date.distantPast let notRunnedToday = !Calendar.current.isDate(today, inSameDayAs: lastExecutionDate) guard notRunnedToday else { task.setTaskCompleted(success: true) createCheckTask() return } if scenePhase == .background { TaskActionStore.shared.getAction(for: task.identifier)?() } task.setTaskCompleted(success: true) UserDefaults.standard.set(today, forKey: "lastCheckExecutionDate") createCheckTask() } } And in AppDelegate: BGTaskScheduler.shared.register(forTaskWithIdentifier: "check", using: nil) { task in guard let task = task as? BGProcessingTask else { return } BackgroundTaskService.shared.checkNodeTask(task: task) } BackgroundTaskService.shared.createCheckTask()

earliestBeginDate timezone
I'm trying to schedule a background task that will run on an iPhone and I'm looking into creating a task request using BGProcessingTaskRequest and scheduled it using BGTaskScheduler.shared.submit(). Per earliestBeginDate documentation, this property can be used to specify the earliest time a background task will be launched by OS. All clear here. However, the question is: how is the value interpreted with respect to timezone ? Is the specified date in device timezone ? Is GMT ? Is something else ?

LiveCommunicationKit
What I want to achieve now is that when the app is not running, upon receiving a notification, it displays an interface similar to CallKit with accept and decline buttons. Here is part of my code: @available(iOS 17.4, *) class LiveCommunicationManager: NSObject, ConversationManagerDelegate { static let shared = LiveCommunicationManager() var isInvalidate:Bool = false var configuration: ConversationManager! override init() { let config = ConversationManager. Update(localMember: local, members: [local],activeRemoteMembers: [local]) Task{ do { try await configuration.reportNewIncomingConversation(uuid: uuid, update: update) print("成功报告新来电") } catch { print("报告新来电失败: \(error.localizedDescription)") } } } func conversationManager(_ manager: ConversationManager, conversationChanged conversation: Conversation) { print("会话状态改变了") } func conversationManagerDidBegin(_ manager: ConversationManager) { print("会话已经开始了") manager.delegate = self } func conversationManagerDidReset(_ manager: ConversationManager) { print("会话将要清除了") } func conversationManager(_ manager: ConversationManager, perform action: ConversationAction) { print("会话接听了") configuration.invalidate() } func conversationManager(_ manager: ConversationManager, timedOutPerforming action: ConversationAction) { print("会话超时了") } func conversationManager(_ manager: ConversationManager, didActivate audioSession: AVAudioSession) { print("会话激活了") } func conversationManager(_ manager: ConversationManager, didDeactivate audioSession: AVAudioSession) { print("会话死亡了") } } 在Appdelegate里设置了这些: func application(_ application: UIApplication, didReceiveRemoteNotification userInfo: [AnyHashable: Any], fetchCompletionHandler completionHandler: @escaping (UIBackgroundFetchResult) -> Void) { // 在这里处理离线推送通知 completionHandler(.noData) // 返回后台任务完成 if let aps = userInfo["aps"] as? [String: Any], let alert = aps["alert"] as? [String : Any]{ // 静默推送的处理逻辑 if #available(iOS 17.4, *) { let manager = LiveCommunicationManager.shared if manager.isInvalidate { return } if let msgType = userInfo["msgType"] as? Int{ if msgType == 5{ manager.configuration.invalidate() }else{ let callerName = alert["title"] as? String ?? "Fanvil" manager.reportIncomingCall(uuid: UUID(), callerName: callerName) } } } } } Xcode has been configured with the necessary capabilities, such as Background Fetch, Voice over IP, Background Processing, and Push Notification. The issue now is that sometimes the code works as expected, allowing the app to wake up when not running and displaying the system interface with accept and decline buttons. However, after a few successful attempts, the app stops waking up, and no notification appears. But when I manually open the app, the didReceiveRemoteNotification method gets triggered. I’d like to know why this stops working after a few times.

Alternative to MAC Address for Uniqueness in iOS Bluetooth Connection
I am developing a React Native app for a health monitoring device that connects via Bluetooth and streams live data on iOS. To ensure the uniqueness of the device, I initially planned to use the MAC address. However, I discovered that iOS does not provide access to the original MAC address due to privacy restrictions. Is there an alternative approach to uniquely identifying a Bluetooth device in iOS? I need a reliable way to distinguish devices while maintaining secure and stable connections. Any insights or best practices on handling this in iOS would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to hearing your suggestions! If anyone has experience with handling Bluetooth device uniqueness on iOS, please share your insights. Thank you!

Acknowledgment there is a subscription renewal problem?
New subscriptions have been failing to renew in the sandbox for 3 days. I am seeing multiple posts and comments from people that appear to be experiencing the same issue. But I haven't seen any feedback from Apple representatives. I really do not want to launch a new app without seeing functioning renewals in the sandbox. Is there somewhere else we are intended to seek assistance?

dtrace freezes macOS Sequoia 15.3.1 on M2
Hi gurus, Recently I tried to use dtrace on macOS to do some performance analysis, and found that dtrace reliably freezes the whole system. I have disabled SIP (recovery mode, csrutil disable), when I run sudo filebyproc.d (or any other dtrace command), the whole system just freezes, only hard restart (press power button) can restore the system. I saw someone answered in https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/735939 mentioning restart the system without sleep can work around this issue, but in my case, it doesn't work, even after fresh restart, it's the same. Is this a known issue? Any way around this issue? My system: macOS Sequoia 15.3.1 on M2. Regards, jz

Family Controls Approved for Main App but Not Extension – Blocking
Hi everyone, I’m developing a screen-time and focus app that uses Apple’s Family Controls framework to block distracting apps and reward users through a gamified experience. Apple approved Family Controls (Distribution) for the main app identifier, but they did not approve the required extension target (which implements DeviceActivityMonitor, required for the framework to function). Because of this, I can’t archive or upload the app to TestFlight — and I’ve been stuck in limbo for over 2 months. This is severely delaying my launch. The app works perfectly, but I can’t release it because the extension wasn’t included in the entitlement approval. Has anyone else run into this with Family Controls? Is there any known way to escalate or fast-track approval for additional app IDs or targets? Would really appreciate any help, advice, or hacks. 🙏 Thanks, Enzer

Can an iPhone be used as an NFC terminal to read Apple Wallet passes from another iPhone?
Hi all, I'm working on a use case where a customer checks in at a point of service (e.g., a cafeteria or restaurant) using their Apple Wallet pass (e.g., a digital employee badge). In this scenario, we would like to use an iPhone (with a custom iOS app) as the NFC terminal to read the pass directly from the customer's iPhone over NFC. I’m aware that "Tap to Pay on iPhone" allows NFC-based payment acceptance, but it’s unclear if similar functionality is available or permitted for reading access-type passes from another iPhone via NFC. Key questions: Is it technically possible for an iPhone to act as an NFC reader for a Wallet pass on another iPhone? If not, is this restricted due to Secure Element isolation or protocol limitations? Is there any Apple-supported path for building such a solution — or is certified external hardware (e.g., HID, Wavelynx) the only option? I’ve reviewed the Core NFC and PassKit documentation but couldn't find a definitive answer. Thanks in advance for your clarification!

M1 Air 2020: Failed upgrade from Sequioia 15.3.2 to 15.4, Can't ignore lock validation @t8020dart.c:535
Hi, trying to upgrade from macOS Sequoia 15.3.2 to 15.4 gives this error. Now I can not boot from internal drive of M1 Air 2020, because it restores 15.4, that does not boot. I can only boot from external USB SSD that has macOS 15.3.2. How I can install back 15.3.2 or alternatively newer macOS to internal drive? I only have one Mac, this M1 Air 2020. I have AppleAppleCare+ to 9/18/25. AirPods Max USB-C Lossless mode not working on any device (iOS 18.5 beta + macOS 15.5 Beta)
I’m experiencing a persistent issue with the new USB-C lossless audio feature on AirPods Max (firmware 7E101). I’m using original Apple USB-C to USB-C cable and have tested this setup across multiple Apple devices, including: • iPhone (running iOS 18.5 beta) • iPad Pro with USB-C • MacBook Pro (15.5 Beta) ❗️Problem: Despite Apple’s announcement that AirPods Max now support wired lossless audio over USB-C, I’m unable to get any audio output via USB-C on any device. • On iPhone: I disabled Bluetooth, connected via USB-C — no sound. • On MacBook: The device is shown as “AirPods Max USB Audio” in System Information > USB, but it does not appear in Sound settings or Audio MIDI Setup as an available output. • On iPad Pro: Same behavior — no audio output. Other details: • I performed a factory reset of the headphones, but the LED flashes red instead of the expected amber → white sequence. (Apple’s documentation does not mention red flash behavior during reset — might indicate an error state.) • The issue is not isolated to the iOS 18.5 beta — since the same behavior occurs on macOS and iPadOS. What works: • Bluetooth audio still works fine. • The cable and USB-C ports function with other audio devices. ⸻ Summary: It looks like: • USB audio is being detected on a hardware level (at least on Mac), • but software support for output (especially on macOS/iPadOS) is either not implemented, disabled, or bugged — possibly connected to iOS 18.5 beta or broader OS-level limitations.

Reuse a product id from app A in app B for In-app purchase in my iOS app
I have an app which is already on App Store with In-app purchase. Now I want to integrate In-app purchase in my another app for the same products as in the existing app. Both the apps are using same Apple Account. Can I reuse those Product Ids from the first app in the second one. If yes, what is the ways to use them. Thank you in advance.

Recurring subscriptions return with an "Unknown Error" fail message
Testing recurring subscriptions in a new release in both development environment and in Test Flight, we see an increased percentage of failed calls returning from Apple server. The return failure message is that an unknown error occurred. The behavior is not consistent and most often we get a failure and another attempt succeeds. We do get around 50% failures which is alarming and cannot be explained to the end user. We have also experimented with previous test versions that are in production currently and we see the same behavior, so this is not isolated to the most recent release we plan nor to a specific application we have. Past testing in previous releases did not return such high percentage of failures from Apple server. Have you encountered such an issue? We have no idea what may cause Apple server to return with this "Unknown error" and there is no log we can consume from Apple subscription service. Appreciate your help on this.

The currency information obtained from [priceLocale] differs between the TestFlight version and the official release version.
When creating a subscription charging system for an iOS app, I am trying to change the display to yen, dollars, or euros depending on the user's country. I am using [priceLocale] of [SKProduct] in [StoreKit] to obtain currency information linked to the Apple account from the App Store and change the display. The smartphone I am testing on uses an Apple account created in Japan, and the nationality of the App Store is also set to Japan, so I expect the display to be in yen. As a result, the TestFligh version displayed dollars, but the official release version displayed yen. Why doesn't the TestFligh version display yen?

“Billing problem” after free trial subscription expiry in sandbox environment
Yesterday I noticed that if I purchase a free trial subscription in my app using a sandbox account, when the subscription expires I see a “Billing Problem” message every time I open the app. ”allow purchases & renewals“ setting is ON so this shouldn’t happen. has anyone else seen this or knows how to resolve? observed on iOS 18.3.2 & 16.7.10 thanks

Shared directories do not honor uid/gid
Using VZVirtioFileSystemDeviceConfiguration allows a Linux guest OS to access folders on macOS. However, modifications to the file's uid/gid by the Linux guest OS have no effect, and the file's uid/gid will always appear as the uid/gid of the Linux user currently accessing the file, as if the uid/gid were not stored at all.I hope there’s a way to at least pass through the uid/gid without any mapping.
