Xcode debugger doesn't pause on breakpoints (simulator SDK < iOS 17)
Hello. I'm seeing an inconsistent behavior where breakpoints I set in my (Swift) iOS app behave normally when I'm debugging on a device or on a simulator running iOS 17.x, but when I try using simulators of iOS 16 or 15 the breakpoints get ignored completely. I also observe that the breakpoints remain solid blue and do NOT adopt the dotted blue outline, as experienced by other users. I've seen a few posts on here and on SO about the general issue of ignored breakpoints (with no conclusive answer AFAIK), but I haven't seen any where the behavior varies with the SDK being used. The behavior is repeatable and predictable (within the same app at least). I am not adding the breakpoints after building/running, and I'm sure the logic reaches the lines with the breakpoints (and again, whenever I switch to an iOS 17 simulator, execution does pause as expected with the exact same breakpoints). Things I've tried and looked into: Clean up project build folder Delete and re-install simulators (iOS 16.4 and 15.5) Deleted the entire derived data directory, as well as the CoreSimulator one. Confirm the build configuration is Debug, and the "Debug executable" option is checked. inspect various build flags mentioned in other posts: {Swift compiler - Code generation - Optimization level - Debug: -0none; Debug information format: DWARF (I also tried DWARF with dSYM with no impact)}. Most of my settings are on the plain vanilla/out of the box side, with only a couple of SPM dependencies, and I've been maintaining the same app for about 5 years and don't think I've come across this behavior before. Currently using Xcode 15.1. Deployment target is 14.0. Thank you.

empty dSYM file detected - Xcode 16
Hi, I recently updated to Xcode 16. Since then I successfully built my app and sent an update to the App Store. But suddenly, after an exception I've experienced while working on my code, the app is crashing on launch, without showing the stack trace, and showing only one warning in the console: warning: (arm64) /Users/myuser/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/myapp-bglvscamatwthwbfqmtzmbvxeewc/Build/Products/Debug-iphonesimulator/myapp.app/MyApp empty dSYM file detected, dSYM was created with an executable with no debug info. Tried deleting derived data Erasing all simulator data Reseting my computer No change yet. Any idea what am I missing? Thank you..

I am building 2 similar apps from the same source. To start I got one app building like I wanted, so I duplicated its target and changed the Display Name and the Embedded Content to match the second app. I am now getting this error, any ideas? Domain: com.apple.dt.CoreDeviceError Code: 3000 Failure Reason: The path to the provided bundle's main executable could not be determined. Recovery Suggestion: Ensure that your bundle's Info.plist contains a value for the key CFBundleExecutable.

WatchOS Xcode 16.4 to sample live RR intervals from the PPG sensor ERROR
Hi, I am getting an error stating "Argument passed to call that takes no arguments". I want this Apple Watch App to measure and store RR Intervals from the PPG sensor on the Apple Watch for Heart Rate Variability calculations. Please help me fix this, I can't figure it out. Here is my code: heartbeatQuery = HKHeartbeatSeriesQuery(predicate: predicate, dataReceivedHandler: { (query, timeSinceLastBeat, ended, error) in // Switch to main thread for UI updates DispatchQueue.main.async { if let error = error { print("Heartbeat query error: (error.localizedDescription)") self.fetchErrorMessage = "Heartbeat query error: (error.localizedDescription)" // Consider stopping the workout session if the query fails critically // self.stopWorkoutSession() return } if ended { print("Heartbeat query indicates series ended.") } // Append valid RR intervals if timeSinceLastBeat > 0 { self.rrIntervals.append(timeSinceLastBeat) self.beatCount += 1 } } // End DispatchQueue.main.async }) // End query data handler // --- END OF PROBLEMATIC INITIALIZER --- // Execute the query if it was created successfully It recommends the fix as removing this part: '(predicate: predicate, dataReceivedHandler: { (query, timeSinceLastBeat, ended, error) in // Switch to main thread for UI updates DispatchQueue.main.async { if let error = error { print("Heartbeat query error: (error.localizedDescription)") self.fetchErrorMessage = "Heartbeat query error: (error.localizedDescription)" // Consider stopping the workout session if the query fails critically // self.stopWorkoutSession() return } if ended { print("Heartbeat query indicates series ended.") } // Append valid RR intervals if timeSinceLastBeat > 0 { self.rrIntervals.append(timeSinceLastBeat) self.beatCount += 1 } } // End DispatchQueue.main.async })' But after I remove that it says "Cannot assign value of type 'HKHeartbeatSeriesQuery.Type' to type 'HKHeartbeatSeriesQuery'" PLEASE HELP ME Thanks

Framework Project Fails to Run Across Different Xcode Versions
I have a framework project that uses third-party packages integrated via Swift Package Manager. The framework is then bundled as an XCFramework to support both simulator and device builds. However, when this XCFramework is consumed in a different version of Xcode than the one it was originally built with, it results in Swift compiler errors. For example, compiling the framework in Xcode 15.4 and then using it in a consumer app built with Xcode 16.2 results in Swift compiler errors(and vice-versa) Swift should work across different Xcode versions due to ABI stability. It appears the issue is originating from the referenced library, CryptoSwift. I’ve attached two projects: the [framework] project and the consumer app. https://bit.ly/4iWgi9i I’d really appreciate any help in identifying a solution to this problem.

SchemeBuildError: Failed to build the scheme
I have an iOS app, and I am trying to add a companion WatchOS app. My iOS app depends on 2 libraries: GoogleMobileAds FirebaseAnalyticsWithoutAdIdSupport When I add a new target for WatchOS, the preview build starts to fail. I am not adding any libraries to WatchOS. The Google Ads and Firebase Analytics libs are only under the iOS target. I am unable to run the preview, I get an error when trying to build the watch scheme. The preview does not work. The build just crashes. I've included the error log below. But, here are the steps I've tried so far: Delete folders inside Derived Data Run a clean build (Cmd + Option + Shift + K) Delete scheme and create a new one Reset Package Cache Restart Xcode Restart Macbook But, it just does not work. I do not understand why the watchOS target is erroring for "GoogleUserMessagingPlatform" and "GoogleMobileAdsTarget" when those packages are not linked/used for the watchOS. Build operation failed without specifying any errors. Individual build tasks may have failed for unknown reasons.
Xcode New App Project Select Any iOS Device (arm64) command + B Verify final result code for completed build operation Build operation failed without specifying any errors. Individual build tasks may have failed for unknown reasons. One possible cause is if there are too many (possibly zombie) processes; in this case, rebooting may fix the problem. Some individual build task failures (up to 12) may be listed below. I’ve already tried: • Reinstalling Xcode and toolchains • Cleaning DerivedData • Switching code signing and provisioning profiles • Restarting the system and checking for zombie processes • Creating a fresh HelloWorld project with no custom code Still, the issue persists. It seems related to swift-frontend and possibly new AppIntents processing. please help me,thanks!

iOS Simulator Keychain Issues After Xcode Reinstall
Hello All I'm encountering an issue with Keychain access in iOS simulators after reinstalling Xcode. My app successfully accesses the Keychain on physical devices, but simulators consistently fail with errors. Details: App uses Keychain to store API keys Works perfectly on physical devices After Xcode reinstall, simulator Keychain access fails Error logs show "Keychain retrieve failed for key with status: -25300" I've properly configured Keychain Sharing entitlements My entitlements file includes: $(AppIdentifierPrefix)******* What I've tried: Resetting simulators Deleting simulator Keychain databases manually Adding Keychain Sharing capability Ensuring entitlements are correct My app worked fine with simulators before reinstalling Xcode, which suggests something changed in the development environment rather than my code. Has anyone encountered similar issues? Is there a recommended approach for handling Keychain access in simulators that's more resilient to Xcode environment changes? Thanks for your help!

Xcode inserts unexpected apostrophes into Markdown and XML files
In Xcode, when you type a word like "don't", a second apostrophe is automatically inserted after the word and you have to manually delete it. Repro steps: Create a new empty Markdown file or XML file. Open the file in Xcode. Type the word “don’t”. Expected behavior: The word “don’t” appears. Observed behavior: The word “don’t” appears, followed by an extra single quote.

The location coming out of geocoder in CLPlacemark has altitude 0, differently of the input CLLocation
When I execute: geoCoder.reverseGeocodeLocation(location, completionHandler:{[weak self](placemarks, error) in print("reverse geocoding location after altitude: ",location.altitude) print("placemark location first", placemarks?.first?.location?.altitude ?? -1) The input CLLocation has correct altitude 25, instead the location in the output placemarks have altitude 0, when of course they should have the same location. Moreover it is impossible to retrofit any data in the returned placemarks as they are portrayed as a read only property.

How to retrieve required Apple Pay parameters for PayFort payment request in Swift?
I'm integrating Apple Pay with PayFort in a Swift iOS application, and I’m currently working on preparing a valid purchase request using Apple Pay, as described in PayFort’s documentation: 🔗 https://docsbeta.payfort.com/docs/api/build/index.html?shell#apple-pay-authorization-purchase-request The documentation outlines the following required parameters: apple_data apple_signature apple_header apple_transactionId apple_ephemeralPublicKey apple_publicKeyHash apple_paymentMethod apple_displayName apple_network apple_type Optional: apple_applicationData I understand these should be derived from the PKPayment object after Apple Pay authorization, but I’m having trouble mapping everything correctly. Here’s what I’m seeing in code: payment.token // Returns something like: <PKPaymentToken: 0x28080ae80; transactionIdentifier: "..."; paymentData: 3780 bytes> payment.token.paymentData // Contains 3780 bytes of encrypted data payment.token.paymentData.base64EncodedString() // Returns a long base64 string, which at first glance seems like it could be used for apple_data, // but PayFort doesn't accept it as-is — so this value appears to be incomplete or incorrectly formatted I can successfully retrieve the following values from payment.token.paymentMethod: apple_displayName apple_network apple_type However, I’m still unsure how to extract or build the following in the format accepted by PayFort: apple_data apple_signature apple_header apple_transactionId apple_ephemeralPublicKey apple_publicKeyHash apple_paymentMethod These may be contained within the paymentData JSON, but I’m not sure how to decode it or if Apple allows decrypting it in a way that matches PayFort’s expected format. How can I correctly extract or build apple_data, apple_signature, and apple_header from the Apple Pay token? Also, how should I handle the decryption or decoding (if necessary) of paymentData to retrieve values like apple_transactionId, apple_ephemeralPublicKey, and apple_publicKeyHash? If anyone has successfully set this up or has example code that bridges Apple Pay and PayFort’s expected request format, it would be super helpful! Thanks in advance 🙏

iOS app fails to run with Xcode 16 & less than iOS17.0 no issue with Xocde 15
When I build and rum my iOS app with xocde 16.0 or higher version with my 16.0 iOS, 17.0 iOS, if fails to run with error. I try to setting '-weak_framework SwiftUI' for solve this error with this post (https://forums.developer.apple.com/forums/thread/126506). But when applied, an error occurred in modify on all swiftUI. If a project is built with a simulator over 18 versions, it runs smoothly. *issue project is with tac or tuist. There are two projects in question, and each configuration is (1.17.0 tca + 4.37.0) / (tuist 3.4.0). Does anyone have any pointers as where I even start to debug this issue and narrow down on what's going on with Xcode 16?

How to Resolve Core Data Composite Attributes Errors in Xcode?
How do I resolve these errors reported in Xcode about using Core Data Composite Attributes feature? Composite Attributes feature requires tvOS deployment target 17.0 or later Composite Attributes feature requires watchOS deployment target 10.0 or later My app is a Cocoa app and targets macOS 14.0+. I do not have an iOS, iPadOS, tvOS nor watchOS targets. So, I don't understand why I am getting these errors. My Xcode project format is set to Xcode 16.0. I am on macOS Sequoia 15.2 (24C101) and using Xcode Version 16.2 (16C5032a). If you create a new Xcode project and choose macOS > App and Storage > Core Data and then Add Composite Type and set an attribute name and type, you will get the errors.

Switching stashes, exiting and restarting xcode. TG i made an emergency project backup right before I did the stash, just for a case like this. Bug? Feature?

App crashing on real iPhone only (working fine on simulator and Xcode preview)
Hi, I'm currently facing an issue where my React Native app crashes only on a real iPhone. On the simulator and in Xcode preview, the app runs fine. Previously, I had an issue with FlatList regarding props.getItem, which I solved by installing some missing Babel dependencies. After that, everything worked correctly in the simulator. But when I try to open the app on a real device, it shows the splash screen and crashes immediately. I've already done a full clean and reset, including: npx react-native start --reset-cache Deleted node_modules and Pods, reinstalled everything Cleaned build folder via Xcode Deleted DerivedData Restarted Metro bundler and simulator/device The issue only happens on the physical device.

Thank you..

Ensure that your bundle's Info.plist contains a value for the key CFBundleExecutable

SchemeBuildError: Failed to build the scheme “timerWatch Watch App” While building for watchOS Simulator, no library for this platform was found in '/Users/k/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/timer-dhkdhvfcqtfgskfdxpmupujswtuh/SourcePackages/artifacts/swift-package-manager-google-user-messaging-platform/UserMessagingPlatform/UserMessagingPlatform.xcframework'. Unable to find custom imported font for label. (Xcode 16.3)
Hello! I've been trying to select a custom font to use for my label, but when I import it correctly, it doesn't show up in the fonts available for selection (See images below.) I've tried closing/reopening Xcode and cleaning and rebuilding the project. Nothing I've tried has worked so far. Thank you!

(Library not loaded: /System/Library/Frameworks/SwiftUICore.framework/SwiftUICore) I found this error after update my macOS and xcode (Ventura -> Sequoia, Xcode 15.2 -> 16.2).

Unable to apply stashed changes
I am trying to perform an unstash operation. I RC on the stash to restore, select "Apply Stashed Changes". It then launches a comparison window to allow me to cherrypick the changes I want to include. However, the button along the bottom, "Apply Changes" is grayed out and remains so no matter what I do.
