Bluetooth connection unexpectedly timing out with macOS Sequoia
After the macOS Sequoia update, my app seems to have an issue with Bluetooth communication between macOS and iOS that uses CoreBluetooth for Central-Peripheral communication. Setup: The iPhone (in my case: iPhone 14 Pro with iOS 18.0 (22A3354)) acts as the Central, and the Mac (in my case: 14" MacBook Pro 2023 with macOS 15.0 (24A335)) as the Peripheral. I’ve implemented a mechanism where the Central (iPhone) sends a message to the Peripheral (Mac) every 15 seconds to keep the connection alive (Because it needs to wait for notify characteristic updates). I never noticed this kind of issue before, but with macOS Sequoia I get it permanently. Issue: The connection drops unexpectedly after a period of time (sometimes 20 seconds, sometimes a few minutes) with CBErrorDomain - code 6: The connection has timed out unexpectedly. Sample Code: Peripheral (Mac): ContentView (Peripheral).txt ContentViewModel (Peripheral).txt Central (iPhone): ContentView (Central).txt ContentViewModel (Central).txt Reproduce: I attached sample code including the Central-Sample (for iPhone) and Peripheral-Sample (for Mac). Just run the Peripheral-Sample (after granting Bluetooth permissions). Then run the Central-Sample and select the Mac device in the list After selecting it should connect, discover the service & characteristic and should start writing messages to it. After some time the func centralManager(_ central: CBCentralManager, didDisconnectPeripheral peripheral: CBPeripheral, error: (any Error)?) {should get called with timed out unexpectedly error. Could anyone please look into this issue and advise on whether there’s a known bug or any workaround? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated, as this impacts the stability of Bluetooth communication between the devices. Thanks in advance. Logs: I also ran the console.app during this issue which got these errors (if this is helpful): console_logs.txt

SwiftData with CloudKit failing to migrate schema
My app has been in the App Store a few months. In that time I've added a few updates to my SwiftData schema using a MigrationPlan, and things were seemingly going ok. But then I decided to add CloudKit syncing. I needed to modify my models to be compatible. So, I added another migration stage for it, changed the properties as needed (making things optional or adding default values, etc.). In my tests, everything seemed to work smoothly updating from the previous version to the new version with CloudKit. So I released it to my users. But, that's when I started to see the crashes and error reports come in. I think I've narrowed it down to when users update from older versions of the app. I was finally able to reproduce this on my end, and Core Data is throwing an error when loading the ModelContainer saying "CloudKit integration requires that all attributes be optional, or have a default value set." Even though I did this in the latest schema. It’s like it’s trying to load CloudKit before performing the schema migration, and since it can’t, it just fails and won’t load anything. I’m kinda at a loss how to recover from this for these users other than tell them to delete their app and restart, but obviously they’ll lose their data that way. The only other idea I have is to setup some older builds on TestFlight and direct them to update to those first, then update to the newest production version and hope that solves it. Any other ideas? And what can I do to prevent this for future users who maybe reinstall the app from an older version too? There's nothing special about my code for loading the ModelContainer. Just a basic: let container = try ModelContainer( for: Foo.self, Bar.self, migrationPlan: SchemaMigration.self, configurations: ModelConfiguration(cloudKitDatabase: .automatic) )

Inquiry About Upcoming Changes to APNs Certificates
Hello, I’m reaching out to gather information regarding the upcoming changes to APNs certificates that are set to be implemented in the beta at the end of January 2025. Specifically, I would like to understand the following: What will be the practical impact of these changes on apes apis ? What actually needed to be done at trust store for this changes, and how will it affect our current setup? What steps do we need to take to update the certificates on our servers? it’s crucial for us to address these changes in advance and keep our customers informed. Thank you for your help!

StoreKit 2 failure on tvOS 18.2
Please help! I have a subscription IAP failing on tvOS 18.2 at: func makePurchase(_ product: Product) async throws { let result = try await product.purchase() //ERROR OCCURS HERE (See error message below) ... Xcode Console message: "Could not get confirmation scene ID for [insert my IAP id here]" The IAP subscription was working fine on 18.1 and earlier, and the same IAP and code is also running fine on iOS 18.2. The tvOS error on 18.2 happens both in production and sandbox. Are there any changes to StoreKit 2 which might cause this error?

Dynamic Options for Configurable Widgets
Hello, I'm trying to create a widget using the WidgetKit framework. In this part, I'm using Intents along with a DynamicOptionsProvider. As shown in the Medium article below, I want to present multiple options when "Edit Widget" is tapped: https://levelup.gitconnected.com/swiftui-configurable-widget-to-let-our-user-choose-4a54e398f42f However, in this example, the options are provided statically. What I want to achieve is to display a list of devices based on the selected HomeId after the user selects a Home. I’ve set up the interface accordingly, but when I select a Home, the device list does not update. How can I make this work? The two options should be dependent on each other.

Multiple network extensions (system extension) activation under the same app bundle
We have an application, which activates two network extensions (Content Filter, Transparent Proxy) during app launch which is written in Swift. When we are activating multiple network extensions under the same app bundle, in Ventura and Sonoma, under Privacy and Security it shows "Details" button. On click of it we see below issues: - It shows the app bundle name instead of respective network extension bundle name. - On click of OK button, it adds only one extension under "Network -> Filters -> Filters & VPN" and only after machine restart, we can see both the extensions under this screen. These issues are not seen in Sequoia. In Sequoia, it shows the extension names under the app name. There are separate controls to enable/add each of the extension. Attached the screenshots of Sonoma and Sequoia for reference Already submitted the feedback ticket. (FB16331169)

Interactive Widget: unable to reload timeline from AppIntent
My app features two kinds of widgets, let's call them kind A and kind B. I have both A and B widgets on my Home Screen. When I tap the button on widget A (associated with App Intent), I expect widget B to also reload. However, if you call WidgetCenter.shared.reloadAllTimelines() inside the perform() method of the AppIntent, the timeline of widget B does not reload immediately. This issue only occurs on a physical device and is not consistently reproducible. On a simulator, however, widget B reloads as expected. FB13152293

Does "Locked and hidden apps" feature of iOS 18 support deep link?
Our app includes showing external web service with WebView or Safari and returning to the app with custom URL scheme or universal link. When we set "Hide and Require Face ID" feature which was available on iOS 18, neither custom URL scheme nor universal link activated the app. If we only set "Require Face ID", the deep link worked properly. Here is what we've tried: Define custom URL scheme or universal link in the app https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode/defining-a-custom-url-scheme-for-your-app https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode/supporting-universal-links-in-your-app Implement external web service with one of the following frameworks ASWebAuthenticationSession https://developer.apple.com/documentation/authenticationservices/aswebauthenticationsession/ SFSafariViewController https://developer.apple.com/documentation/safariservices/sfsafariviewcontroller Safari WKWebView https://developer.apple.com/documentation/webkit/wkwebview On iOS 18 device, install the app and set "Hide and Require Face ID" Access external web page and tap the link which activates custom URL scheme or universal link We expected the deep link to work, but the results were: Custom URL scheme & ASWebAuthenticationSession/SFSafariViewController/Safari The system shows "Cannot open the page because the address is invalid" Custom URL scheme & WKWebView Nothing happens when tapping the link Universal link Directed to the server with associated domain file, but the system doesn't call the app which is defined in the associated domain file We tested the feature with the app built with Xcode16 beta 6, and the device with iOS 18 Seed 8(22A5350a). Does hide app feature support custom URL scheme and universal link?

Shortcuts | Transaction Automation | IOS 18
Hello forum, Hope all is great! I have a shortcut automation which uses the transaction trigger. Since updating to ios 18 the transaction trigger does not work anymore. Whenever a transaction is done, the “Running your automation” notification does not show up and the automation does not work. To share with you the steps I’ve done so far: 1.Remove the automation and do it again 2.Remove the card from apple pay 3. Delete and install again the shortcut app 4. Turned on and off the phone I can confirm the automation works on my other iPhone with the latest version of IOS 17. Would really appreciate if anyone has any insights about that, or if this happened to you as well. Cheers! Dorin

Push Notification Certificate Updates
Hello, I received this message below. I reached out to support but they said they can not help with something this specific. Any organization in the same boat? Which of the certificates in the provided link should I use? Hello, We’re reaching out with a final reminder that the Certification Authority (CA) for Apple Push Notification service (APNs) is changing. APNs updated the server certificates in sandbox on January 21, 2025. APNs production server certificates will be updated on February 24, 2025. To continue using APNs without interruption, you’ll need to update your application’s Trust Store to include the new server certificate: SHA-2 Root: USERTrust RSA Certification Authority certificate. To ensure a smooth transition and avoid push notification delivery failures, please make sure that both old and new server certificates are included in the Trust Store before the cut-off date for each of your application servers that connect to sandbox and production. At this time, you don’t need to update the APNs SSL provider certificates issued to you by Apple.

Changing Screen Time Passcode does not protect apps with Screen Time enabled
Hello, The purpose of "Screen Time Passcode" under Settings/Screen Time is to protect Screen Time preferences and it is asked every time the user updates Downtime, App Limits, Content & Privacy Restrictions and so on. But the private passcode is not requested if the user disables Screen Time for a particular app (only Face ID or phone passcode is requested, but not the private Screen Time passcode). I think this is a mistake, I think the purpose of a private Screen Time passcode is to protect all settings, including apps that use this API, right? Is there any solution to this? Thank you.

iOS 26 can no longer report sms messages using Unwanted Communication Extension
Hi! Sms reporting is no longer available in iOS beta 26 builds. I can set my app as the SMS/Call Reporting Extensions but the report button is missing for sms messages in the messages app. Xcode 26 beta 7 build the app without errors. This is a breaking change. Same extension was previously broken for calls but has been fixed in beta 7 build, as reported here. It is however still missing for sms messages in the messages app (beta 9 build).

AccessorySetupKit documentation
This is not a question but rather a small bit of documentation on how Accessory Setup Kit actually works. I spent a couple days figuring this out so I thought let's share my findings. The example app is very light and the documentation definitely has room for improvement so here are a couple important notes. Findings: If you're running > iOS 18 and add any property to your Info.plist file you're no longer able to scan for devices by using CBCentralManager.scanForPeriphals. This will no longer return discoverable devices. Below iOS 18 these properties in the Info.plist are ignored by the OS and you can safely use the "legacy" method of connecting to bluetooth devices. If you're running > iOS 26 the removeAccessory will show a prompt to the user. If you're running < 26 you can silently remove the accessory and start each session with a clean state. If you create CBCentralManager before you start the ASK session you'll not get the state = PoweredOn. If you have 0 accessories connected to your application CBCentralManager will never enter the state = PoweredOn when you create the CBCentralManager. Pre-ASK this would be the trigger for iOS to ask the user permission. This is no longer necessary with ASK. If you have have 1 or more accessories authorized to your app this will be returned in the session.accessories after the session has started. This is an important indicator to determine app behavior. If you have 1 or more accessories CBCentralManager.scanForPeripherals will ONLY return previously authorized AND discoverable devices. Use this for when you want to connect to a previously authorized device. If you have 1 or more accessories and the CBCentralManager.scanForPeripherals returns nothing you can (safely) assume the user attempts to onboard a new device. So for my application I take the following steps: Check for iOS version, if > iOS 18 start ASK session. Are there previously authorized devices? -- yes: run CBCentralManger.scanForPeripherals -- no: show the picker Did the scan return any devices? -- yes: show UI to select device or connect with first available device in the list -- no: show the picker Feel free to add any of your findings and @Apple please update the documentation!

Can reproduce in SpeakerBox that CallKit doesn't activate audiosession when call finished by remote caller
I can reproduce the bug that CallKit doesn't active audiosession after the outgoing call put on hold because of an incoming call. VoIP calling with CallKit Steps to reproduce: Download SpeakerBox example app from the link above and start it with XCode Start a new outgoing call Call your phone from other phone Hold and Accept the call After a few secs finish the call from the other phone The outgoing call will be still on hold Click on the call and click Toggle Hold The call won't be active again because the audiosession is activated. Clarification on AskCenter and Age Assurance APIs for Texas Regulatory Compliance
Hello, I’m currently reviewing and implementing age assurance and parental approval flows using AgeRangeService and PermissionKit (AskCenter) in the context of Texas regulatory compliance requirements. While the high-level APIs are clear, there are several technical aspects where the intended usage patterns are not fully explicit in the documentation. Clarification on these points would help ensure our implementation aligns with system expectations and regulatory obligations. ⸻ Querying the current approval state for SignificantAppUpdateTopic AskCenter.ask(...) returns Void, and AskCenter.responses(for:) provides an AsyncSequence of approval events. Is there an official or recommended way to determine whether a SignificantAppUpdateTopic has already been approved when the app launches, or is listening for future responses events the only supported mechanism? ⸻ Behavior of AskCenter.responses(for:) regarding past approvals When subscribing to AskCenter.responses(for:): • Does the stream replay previously recorded approval or decline decisions? • Or does it only emit events that occur after subscription? This affects whether the listener must be registered early in the app lifecycle. ⸻ Recommended lifecycle timing for registering a responses(for:) listener What is the intended or recommended time to register a responses(for:) listener? • At application launch • Immediately before calling ask(...) • When entering a specific gated feature Clarification on the expected lifecycle usage would be helpful. ⸻ Repeated calls to ask(...) after approval If AskCenter.ask(...) is called again for the same SignificantAppUpdateTopic after parental approval has already been granted: • Is the request ignored? • Is a new approval request sent to the parent? • Or is the call handled idempotently by the system? ⸻ Delivery of approval results when the child app is not running If a parent approves or declines a SignificantAppUpdateTopic while the child app is not running: • Will the approval decision be delivered as a responses(for:) event on the next app launch? • Or is the app expected to persist approval state locally? ⸻ Persistence of approval state Is the approval decision for SignificantAppUpdateTopic persisted by the system at the OS level, or is the app responsible for storing approval state? Additionally, does the approval persist across: • app restarts? • app deletion and reinstallation? ⸻ Meaning of activeParentalControls.significantAppChangeApprovalRequired How is activeParentalControls.significantAppChangeApprovalRequired determined? • Is this value explicitly configured by a parent (for example via Screen Time)? • Or is it automatically determined by the system based on region, age, or regulatory requirements? ⸻ Relationship between significantAppChangeApprovalRequired and AgeRangeService When activeParentalControls contains significantAppChangeApprovalRequired, is it still expected that apps call AgeRangeService.requestAgeRange(...)? Or can the presence of this flag be treated as sufficient indication that the user is a minor for gating purposes? ⸻ Recommended interpretation of AgeRangeDeclaration Is the intended usage of AgeRangeDeclaration to handle each case individually, or is it acceptable and recommended to interpret the values as different trust levels (for example, self-declared vs. government ID or payment verified)? ⸻ Clarification on these points would help ensure that implementations of age assurance and parental approval flows are consistent with system behavior while meeting regulatory compliance requirements. Thank you for your guidance.

ExtensionKit and iOS 26
It looks like ExtensionKit (and ExtensionFoundation) is fully available on iOS 26 but there is no mention about this in WWDC. From my testing, it seems as of beta 1, ExtensionKit allows the app from one dev team to launch extension provided by another dev team. Before we start building on this, can someone from Apple help confirm this is the intentional behavior and not just beta 1 thing?
