Not Receiving Incoming VoIP Push Notifications on iOS 18.4 (React Native App)
Hi Apple Dev Team, We have a React Native application that includes call functionality using PushKit and VoIP notifications. We are using APNS to send the VoIP notifications, and everything has been working smoothly on iOS versions up to 18.3.1. However, after updating to iOS 18.4, we are no longer receiving incoming VoIP push notifications on the device. There have been no code changes related to our PushKit or notification logic — the exact same build continues to work correctly on devices running iOS 18.3.1 and earlier. We're trying to understand if anything has changed in iOS 18.4 that affects VoIP push delivery or registration behavior. Would appreciate any guidance, and happy to share code snippets or configuration if needed. Thanks in advance!

How can you tick between live activities?
I have been watching the following moment from wwdc (Design dynamic Live Activities): https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2023/10194/?time=728 It suggest that you should 'tick' between multiple live activities of your app: When you want to show multiple sessions for your app going on at once, consider ticking between the display of them to continue to give users an eye on everything that’s going on. How can I tick between them? More specifically how can I do that when my app is in the background?

Background Push Notifications for Emergency App Delayed Despite Critical Alert Entitlement
I’m using Appnotic from my server to send notifications for an emergency service, where it is critical that notifications are delivered immediately. My payload looks like this: "aps": { "alert": "Test alert", "sound": { "critical": 1, "name": "sound.wav", "volume": 0.5 }, "content-available": 1, "category": "alert" }, "topic": "com.fireservicerota.FSR-Primary-Alerting", "custom_payload": { "id": "11", "type": "alert", "incident_id": 23434, "incident_response_id": 2652343, "expiration_time": "2024-06-06T16:59:05+01:00" } } I already have the critical alert entitlement and background processing enabled. Everything seems fine when debugging, but I’m experiencing issues: • Some notifications never arrive • Around 60% of notifications arrive with noticeable delay Since this is an emergency app, delivery speed is crucial. What could be causing this inconsistency?

Alternate App Icon Change Does Not Reflect in Notification Center on iOS 18.1+
Version: iOS 18.1 and later (works as expected on iOS 18.0 and earlier) Area: SpringBoard / Notification Center / App Icon Rendering Description: When changing the app's alternate icon using UIApplication.setAlternateIconName(_:completionHandler:), the icon is updated correctly on the Home Screen and App Switcher. However, in Notification Center, the old app icon is still shown for notifications, even after the change has completed. This issue only occurs on iOS 18.1 and later. In iOS 18.0 and earlier, Notification Center correctly reflects the updated icon. - Steps to reproduce: Create an iOS app with alternate app icons configured in the Info.plist. Use UIApplication.shared.setAlternateIconName("IconName") to change the icon at runtime. Send a notification. Pull down Notification Center and observe the icon shown beside the notification. - Expected Behavior: Notification Center should reflect the updated (alternate) app icon immediately after the change. - Actual Behavior: Notification Center continues to display the old (primary) app icon. The new icon appears correctly on the Home Screen and App Switcher. Restarting the device does cause Notification Center to update and reflect the correct icon, which suggests a cache or refresh issue in SpringBoard or Notification Center. - Notes: Issue introduced in iOS 18.1; not present in 18.0. Reproduces on both physical devices and simulators. Occurs with both scheduled local notifications and remote notifications. Restarting the device updates the Notification Center icon, but this is not a viable user-facing workaround.

Update Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) server certificate
Currently, our company server is using the push service by calling APNS through the p8 certificate. In this process, our server does not have a CA certificate or SSL certificate in use. Only the p8 certificate is installed and only performs the role of calling APNS. If it is used like this, is there no need to update the CA certificate separately? Or do I have to apply a new SSL certificate and add the CA to it? Can someone help me plz?

APNS push working on iphone XR but not on iphone 13
Hello , We are trying MDM APNs push using following command curl.exe -X POST --http2 -k -v --cert PushCert.pem --cacert cacert.pem https://api.push.apple.com/3/device/9BFDFB46D48159D16E5DC80391B765EE99524CF294BB4BF9FB5AEA7A5F3FFD79 -d "{"mdm":"84F0C145-5963-4F06-9D11-DFBDB45802D5"}" -H "apns-topic: com.apple.mgmt.External.c217c1bf-ad51-42a9-9108-2e92ef705b2a" -H "apns-push-type: mdm" The command process correctly there is no error but device doesn't receive the Apns push. At the same time the older device recives the Apns push but newer device not. What can be the cause, how to debug this issue.

NotificationCenter observer method not being executed in some cases
I'm working with a deeplink I have to implement to my app. The deeplink is working because in some cases i will explain later the method is being executed. So when I tap the deeplink with a deeplink-tester-web I detect if the url is which I want and, if it's the case, i post a notification to NotificationCenter with a string parameter I need. Case 1. I tap the deeplink when the view controller with the addObserver method is at the background with the app itself. It works (the only case) Case 2. The app is closed so the deeplink opens the app directly in that view controller (the method is no being called event if the notification is there) Why? Case 3. The app is at the background but in another screen. When I tap the deeplink and, after returning to the app, travel to my viewController the method is not called when the ViewController becomes visible. Why? I've not seen anything in the documentation that can help me and i cannot access to the array of observers because the API does not allow that Thanks. Any help will be appreciate. Code: When the deeplink is tapped the app delegate method that manages universal links call to this code when the url is a specific one @objc func handleRecommendedOffer(offerId: String) { NotificationCenter.default.post(name: .deeplinkRecommendedOfferNotification, object: nil, userInfo: ["offerId": offerId]) } In my viewcontroller viewDidLoad (i've tried also viewWillAppear too): NotificationCenter.default.addObserver(self, selector: #selector(goToDetail(notification:)), name: .deeplinkRecommendedOfferNotification, object: nil) @objc private func goToDetail(notification: Notification) { if let userInfo = notification.userInfo, let offerId = userInfo["offerId"] as? String { showLoading() getOfferViewModel.getOfferDetail(id: offerId) } }

Push Notification Sound and Notification Service Extension When App is Killed
Dear Apple Developer Support, I am currently developing an iOS application that uses push notifications with custom .caf audio and a Notification Service Extension. I have implemented the extension to download and play a dynamic sound file from a remote sound_url. It works well when the app is in the foreground or background. However, when the app is force-closed (swiped up from multitasking), the Notification Service Extension does not seem to run. As a result, the custom sound is not downloaded or played. I would like to confirm: Is it possible to trigger the Notification Service Extension when the app is killed? If not, what is the correct way to play a custom .caf sound when the app is terminated? Should I preload and save the .caf file in App Group storage and reference it by name in the sound field? Are there any best practices or limitations regarding push notification customization when the app is killed? I appreciate your help in clarifying this issue. Thank you very much! Best regards, Phan Van Tung

Badge Number Persists When Re-Installing Application
I have been working on adding a badge number count to my app, but have run into a really weird edge case. If I have a badge number on my app, delete the application and then re-install it, the badge number still persists on the app icon until I first open the app. I tried looking to see if there is a lifecycle method that is triggered upon uninstalling an app as well as if there is a specific userDefaults attribute to check in order to clear the badge, but I can't find any clear solutions. Does anyone know of a fix to this issue?

How to Retrieve Current Badge Count After applicationIconBadgeNumber Deprecation?
Hi Everyone, I noticed that applicationIconBadgeNumber has been deprecated in iOS17. While there's a new method to set the badge number using setBadgeCount(_:withCompletionHandler:), I couldn't find a way to retrieve the current value. Previously we used to call UIApplication.shared.applicationIconBadgeNumber, to get the current value, which is deprecated now. Does anyone know how to get the current badge count? Thanks!
