App Store Server Notification Issue
Hello, I am writing this because the behavior of the App Store Server Notification that our server receives is problematic in the Sandbox environment. I have two questions in total. When purchasing a Free Trial subscription, after receiving the SUBSCRIBED / INITAL_BUY Notification, DID_RENEW should be sent when it expires, but DID_FAIL_TO_RENEW/GRACE_PERIOD is sent. The EXPIRE Notification is sent after the subscription expires or DID_CHANGE_RENEWAL_STATUS/AUTO_RENEW_DISABLED is sent, but it does not arrive. The first problem is that I recently heard that automatic payments after a free trial require the user's consent via email. Is this the reason? If so, I am curious about how I can test it in the Sandbox environment. Is the second problem a bug?

RESCIND_CONSENT notification not delivered in Sandbox environment
I am currently testing the Declared Age Range / Parental Consent flow in the Sandbox environment, and I am experiencing an issue where the RESCIND_CONSENT App Store Server Notification is not being delivered to my server. 🔍 Test Environment iOS version: iOS 26.2 (Sandbox environment) App Store Server Notifications: Sandbox environment 🔄 Test Scenario App Settings > Developer > Sign in with a Sandbox account Launch the app In App Settings > Developer > Sandbox Account > Management > Revoke App Consent, enter the app’s Bundle ID, tap the Revoke Consent button, and confirm that the revocation completion popup message is displayed Check whether App Store Server Notifications are received by the server Confirm that the RESCIND_CONSENT notification is not received by the server ✅ Expected Result The App Store Server sends a RESCIND_CONSENT notification to the Sandbox endpoint The notification payload includes appTransactionId The server can block app access based on the corresponding appTransactionId ❌ Actual Result No RESCIND_CONSENT notification is received in the Sandbox environment ❓ Questions Is this behavior an intended limitation of the Sandbox environment, or is it a known issue or bug? Is it possible that RESCIND_CONSENT notifications will only be delivered starting January 1, 2026? Additionally, when a RESCIND_CONSENT server notification is received, I currently update my database with the appTransactionId and the registration date. When a minor attempts to access the app, I check the latest appTransactionId status, and if the most recent state indicates consent has been revoked, I block app access and prompt the user to request parental consent again using PermissionKit.

Clarification on Timing for Critical Alerts Approval in iOS
We are currently planning the development of an iOS healthcare application that will require the use of Critical Alerts. I understand that these notifications bypass Do Not Disturb and Silent mode, and therefore require special entitlement from Apple. We understand that Critical Alerts require a special entitlement from Apple. Could you please clarify: Do we need to request and obtain Apple’s approval for Critical Alerts before we begin development of the app? Or can we apply for this entitlement after we have a working build or prototype ready? We want to ensure compliance and streamline our development process, so any guidance on the appropriate timing for the entitlement request would be greatly appreciated.

APNS always returning "discarded as device was offline"
Approx Dec 13th 2025 til now (Dec 29th) I noticed my APNS dropped off to nothing daily. When I try to send APNS alerts on the developer site tool it always returns "discarded as device was offline" for multiple devices which I know are online. When I try pushing through my VPS (as I always have without any code changes for months) I get status codes of 400 and 403 mostly and a few 200's without it delivering also. I created a new sandbox certificate just in case it was that but still no luck, I get the same results. Ive checked for any firewall issues and I see the following on my VPS: nslookup gateway.push.apple.com Server: 1.1.1.1 Address: 1.1.1.1#53 ** server can't find gateway.push.apple.com: NXDOMAIN This seems like a second issue but not the primary issue that the portal is reporting. Any ideas what to check? Im at a loss as to why its not working at all through apples test notification portal on my developer account. It seems thats the initial issue I need to solve. APNs returning successful response for a token from an app that was uninstalled more than a month ago
We are observing an weird behaviour where a user uninstalled the app back in February (more than a month ago) but APNs is still accepting push notifications are returning success responses. We know that using APNs response codes for uninstall tracking is not reliable and that Apple will use fuzzy schedule to invalidate tokens. However, showing successful responses for month+ old tokens seems a bit misleading and results in wasted token processing for both us and Apple. Could you please confirm that invalidation (or fuzzy schedule) could take more than months to invalidate tokens on the APNs side? Is that expected or is this a bug somewhere?

We are implementing a camera intercom calling feature using VoIP Push notifications (PushKit) and LiveCommunicationKit (iOS 17.4+). The app works correctly when running in foreground or background, but fails when the app is completely terminated (killed by user or system). After accepting the call from the system call UI, the app launches but gets stuck on the launch screen and cannot navigate to our custom intercom interface. Update Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) server certificate
Currently, our company server is using the push service by calling APNS through the p8 certificate. In this process, our server does not have a CA certificate or SSL certificate in use. Only the p8 certificate is installed and only performs the role of calling APNS. If it is used like this, is there no need to update the CA certificate separately? Or do I have to apply a new SSL certificate and add the CA to it? Can someone help me plz?

No notification sound when CarPlay is connected
We're building a taxi driver app. Our goal is simple: Play a notification sound when a new ride request arrives — even if the iPhone is connected to CarPlay. We use Firebase push with "sound": "default" and "interruption-level": "time-sensitive". The app requests .carPlay and uses a category with .allowInCarPlay. Everything works when CarPlay is disconnected — we get sound and banner. But when connected to CarPlay: the push is delivered silently, no sound is played (even on the phone), Siri Announce is enabled, but nothing is spoken. Questions: Is notification sound blocked when CarPlay is active, unless the app has CarPlay entitlement? Is Siri Announce the only way to notify the driver audibly in this case? Would getting a CarPlay entitlement (e.g. CarPlay.communication) fix this without building a full CarPlay UI? Thanks — all we need is a reliable sound alert when a new ride comes in.

How to re-enable entitlements after App Transfer? (Location Push Service Extension)
Hi Apple team and fellow developers, We previously had Location Push Service Extension enabled and working in production. After transferring the app to a new Apple Developer team, the production App ID was transferred, but the Location Push entitlement was not retained. We've also created a new App ID for development, and now need Location Push access enabled for both the transferred production ID and the new development ID. We’ve already submitted the Location Push Access form with all relevant details. Unfortunately, the App Transfer documentation didn’t make it clear that Location Push access would be lost, and now we’re blocked from making new builds — even for the existing production app. ❓ Questions: Is it possible to re-enable Location Push for a transferred App ID? What’s the expected timeline for entitlement approval? Can Apple staff confirm the request status or let us know if any further action is needed? Push Notification Sound and Notification Service Extension When App is Killed
Dear Apple Developer Support, I am currently developing an iOS application that uses push notifications with custom .caf audio and a Notification Service Extension. I have implemented the extension to download and play a dynamic sound file from a remote sound_url. It works well when the app is in the foreground or background. However, when the app is force-closed (swiped up from multitasking), the Notification Service Extension does not seem to run. As a result, the custom sound is not downloaded or played. I would like to confirm: Is it possible to trigger the Notification Service Extension when the app is killed? If not, what is the correct way to play a custom .caf sound when the app is terminated? Should I preload and save the .caf file in App Group storage and reference it by name in the sound field? Are there any best practices or limitations regarding push notification customization when the app is killed? I appreciate your help in clarifying this issue. Thank you very much! Notification Service Extension is killed during startup
We are observing an issue where the iOS Notification Service Extension (NSE) is terminated by the system during startup, before either didReceive(_:withContentHandler:) or serviceExtensionTimeWillExpire(_:) is invoked. When this occurs, the notification is delivered without modification (for example, an encrypted payload is shown to the user). System logs frequently contain the message “Extension will be killed because it used its runtime in starting up”. During testing, we observed that CPU-intensive operations or heavy initialization performed early in the extension lifecycle — especially inside init() or directly on the main thread in didReceive often cause the system to kill the NSE almost immediately. These terminations happen significantly earlier than the commonly observed ~30-second execution window where the OS normally invokes serviceExtensionTimeWillExpire(_:) before ending the extension. When these early terminations occur, there is no call to the expiry handler, and the process appears to be forcefully shut down. Moving the same operations to a background thread changes the behavior: the extension eventually expires around the usual 30-second window, after which the OS calls serviceExtensionTimeWillExpire(_:). We also observed that memory usage plays a role in early termination. During tests involving large memory allocations, the system consistently killed the extension once memory consumption exceeded a certain threshold (in our measurements, this occurred around 150–180 MB). Again, unlike normal time-based expiration, the system did not call the expiry handler and no crash report was produced. Since Apple’s documentation does not specify concrete CPU, memory, or startup-cost constraints for Notification Service Extensions or any other extensions beyond the general execution limit, we are seeking clarification and best-practice guidance on expected behaviors, particularly around initialization cost and the differences between startup termination. IAP refund decision changed
We integrated App Store Server notification, to get notified about CONSUMPTION_REQUESTS and REFUND notifications. In the data, we noticed same transactionId have multiple REFUND decisions, usually REFUND_DECLINED and then REFUND. Why is that? Did user contact customer support ? For the second (or later) REFUND decision, CONSUMPTION_REQUEST notifications are usually not sent, but thats not always the case. Sometimes, REFUND decision are the same. Sometimes, we get even 3 or more REFUND related notifications for same transactionId, e.g: 2024-12-02: REFUND_DECLINED 2024-12-05: REFUND_DECLINED 2024-12-12: REFUND Do user request refund again ? Do they contact customer support ? But I can not explain why sometimes status it REFUND at first, but then later REFUND_DECLINED. Thank you already in advance:)

Got com.apple.developer.usernotifications.filtering entitlement still not able to suppress notifications
I got notification filtering permission from appStoreConnect, i.e. com.apple.developer.usernotifications.filtering, but not able to suppress notification even after setted contentHandler(UNNotificationContent()) and contentHandler(UNMutableNotificationContent()). Added entitlements in both extension and main app, also in signing profile these Entitlements are visible, what other changes should I do?

Badge Number Persists When Re-Installing Application
I have been working on adding a badge number count to my app, but have run into a really weird edge case. If I have a badge number on my app, delete the application and then re-install it, the badge number still persists on the app icon until I first open the app. I tried looking to see if there is a lifecycle method that is triggered upon uninstalling an app as well as if there is a specific userDefaults attribute to check in order to clear the badge, but I can't find any clear solutions. Does anyone know of a fix to this issue?

Push Notification Icon Not Updated on Some Devices After App Icon Change
Hi, We recently updated our app icon, but the push notification icon has not been updated on some devices. It still shows the old icon on: • iPhone 16 Pro — iOS 26 • iPhone 14 — iOS 26 • iPad Pro 11” (M4) — iOS 18.6.2 • iPhone 16 Plus — iOS 18.5 After restarting these devices, the push notification icon is refreshed and displays the new version correctly. Could you advise how we can ensure the push notification icon updates properly on all affected devices without requiring users to restart? Thank you.
