I have an iOS app with ExtensionFoundation. It runs well on my local device, but when I upload on the AppStore it gets rejected with: Validation failed Invalid Info.plist value. The value of the EXExtensionPointIdentifier key, AsheKube.app.a-Shell.localWebServer, in the Info.plist of “a-Shell.app/Extensions/localWebServer.appex” is invalid. I am trying to set up a message filter extension that will use shared web credentials for basic auth when calling to its ILMessageFilterExtensionNetworkURL. I have associated domains set up for both "messagefilter:" and "webcredentials:" and the message filter IS correctly calling the ILMessageFilterExtensionNetworkURL with each message - so that part is working. As detailed here, I have set up Shared Web Credentials and my view controller is using SecAddSharedWebCredential() to save the creds to the correct domain. Using Authorization services, the creds are auto-filled into my app's login screen. When I go under Settings > Passwords, I see the creds are saved and they are the correct creds to the corrent website that matches ILMessageFilterExtensionNetworkURL. Regardless of all of this, the deferQueryRequestToNetwork() refuses to use the creds and implement Basic Auth in its URL call. It makes the call to the correct URL, it just won't use the Shared Web Creds for basic auth. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I think it is quite a common use-case to open the parent app that owns the ShieldActionDelegate when the user selects an action in the Shield. There are only three options available that we can do in response to an action: ShieldActionResponse.none ShieldActionResponse.close ShieldActionResponse.defer It would be great if this new one would be added as well: ShieldActionResponse.openParentApp While finding a workaround for now, the problem is that the ShieldActionDelegate is not a normal app extension. That means, normal tricks do not work to open the parent app from here. For example, UIApplication.shared.open(url) does not work because we can’t access UIApplication from the ShieldActionDelegate unfortunately. NSExtensionContext is also not available in the ShieldActionDelegate unfortunately, so that’s also not possible. I’m currently in the testing phase and would like to repeatedly test the consent flow and different outcomes from AgeRangeService.shared.requestAgeRange(...). However, once I go through the consent flow and choose to share, the age-range sharing sheet no longer appears on subsequent attempts—so it’s hard to validate edge cases (e.g., changed gates, declined flow, re-prompt behavior). Could you advise on the recommended way to reset or re-prompt during development? In particular: Is there a supported way to clear per-app consent so the system prompts again? Under what conditions should the “Share Age Range Again” control appear in Settings, and is there an equivalent way to trigger it for testing? Are there best practices for QA (e.g., using Ask First at the system level, testing on real devices vs. Simulator, using a separate bundle ID for dev builds, or other steps)? Any other guidance for validating different requestAgeRange results (e.g., declined/not available) would be appreciated.

We have a Share Extension that fails in Photos on macOS when trying to share a JPEG image for the following reason: From the NSItemProvider we get from the NSExtensionItem.attachments, we try to load the image using loadFileRepresentation(forTypeIdentifier: “public.image”, completionHandler: …). This fails for .jpeg images in the library. There seems to be a mismatch in expected and actual file extension internally. Here is the log: Error copying file type public.image. I am trying on iOS 16.1.1 the Nearby Interaction framework. I am testing it on two iPhones 14 Pro Max. The supportsDirectionMeasurement property returns false (!) and the direction property on the NINearbyObjects is nil. Has someone experienced the same issue?

Does our app need to check the location or can we fully reply on this API to decide whether we wanna comply for the law of places that requires age range information? Looks like it's only covering Texas now..? would it add other places by apple..? And also this API is really hard to test a user in other places, Iike I don't know a user in Brazil gonna return true for false now, but the law in Brazil also requires the age information.

The documentation for isEligibleForAgeFeatures states: Use this property to determine whether a person using your app is in an applicable region that requires additional age-related obligations for when you distribute apps on the App Store. But what does "region" mean? Is this going to return true if the user has downloaded the app from the US App Store? Or will it go further and geolocate the user and identify them as being within a particular relevant state within the US?

There is an inconsistent issue when views are rendered from the Device Activity Report Extension. This issue is noticeable only on release versions and it works fine in debug mode. Around 80% of the times, the Report Views return blank screen and this is only the case when a weekly/monthly filter is used. Although, it works as expected for daily report views. My questions are: How are all the Report Activity Views working fine in debug mode but not in release mode? How the daily activity filter works fine in the release mode but the weekly/monthly filters don't work? Is this because of a memory limit issue in the extension? As of now, I have the family-controls(distribution) entitlement only for the app and for the extensions I only have family-controls(development) entitlement. Do I need to request for family-controls(Distribution) entitlement even for the extensions? I have seen threads on the forum mentioning the blank screen issue associated with the DeviceActivityReport but haven't found a solution to it. Any suggestions/feedback would be of great help, thanks.

I put a test.mp3 (30 sec) file into the App Bundle. I scheduled an AlarmKit alarm with the file name test.mp3. The custom sound plays ✅ I copied the file from the App Bundle to Library/Sounds/test2.mp3. I scheduled an AlarmKit alarm with the file name test2.mp3. Instead of playing the custom sound, it falls back to the default sound ❌ According to the documentation, sounds placed in Library/Sounds should be playable: I filed report FB19779004 on August 20, but haven’t received any response yet. This functionality is critical for our use case, so could you please let me know whether this is expected to be fixed soon, or if I’m misunderstanding the intended behavior?

Hello, We are using a Message Filter Extension (ILMessageFilterExtension) to classify SMS/iMessage content (junk vs allow) in our app. After testing on iOS 26.1, we want to confirm whether there are any behavioral, performance, or API-level changes that impact message filtering, such as: Changes in how often the filter extension is invoked Differences in classification accuracy or system overrides New privacy, entitlement, or permission-related restrictions Execution time limits or memory constraints Any changes specific to iMessage vs SMS filtering We did not find any explicit mention of Message Filter Extensions in the iOS 26.1 release notes and would like to confirm whether the existing behavior from previous iOS versions remains unchanged. Has Apple introduced any known or undocumented changes in iOS 26.1 that developers should be aware of when supporting Message Filter Extensions? Unfortunately, neither the AssetPackManager nor the AssetPack object seem to include an API for this. Hi, I’ve built an app that includes a Contacts Provider Extension (CPE). On iOS 18, I observed the expected behavior — when the main app is uninstalled, the corresponding CPE entry is also removed from the Contacts list. However, on iOS 26, this no longer happens. After uninstalling the app, the CPE remains visible and active in the Contacts list, even though the app is gone.

When I launch the Quick Look Preview Extension target in Xcode, an app called Quick Look Simulator opens with an almost empty window: Online I read that the Terminal command qlmanage allows to test Quick Look plugins (which I think were an older format for creating Quick Look extensions), but running qlmanage -p /path/to/previewed/file -c public.text -g /path/to/QuickLookPreviewExtension.appex (where QuickLookPreviewExtension.appex is generated by the Xcode build and is located in the DerivedData folder) gives an error Can't get generator at QuickLookPreviewExtension.appex How can I debug a Quick Look Preview Extension?

We have an application which is written in Swift, which activates Transparent Proxy network extension. We are using Jamf MDM profile for deployment. To avoid the user deleting / disabling the extension from General -&gt; LogIn Items &amp; Extension -&gt; Network Extensions screen, we are using "Non-removable system extensions from UI" attribute under Allowed System Extensions and Teams IDs section. In new Mac OS 26 (Tahoe), user can also enable/disable the extension from General -&gt; LogIn Items &amp; Extension -&gt; Apps tab. The "Non-removable system extensions from UI" attribute set in Jamf MDM profile does not apply to this tab. Same attribute is working for General -&gt; LogIn Items &amp; Extension -&gt; Extensions tab and there the slider is greyed out and Remove option is not available under more menu. Is there any new key/configuration defined to disable the slider from General -&gt; LogIn Items &amp; Extension -&gt; Apps tab? Hi All, I’m puzzled by this issue: my app uses WeatherKit to fetch hourly UV-index and temperature forecasts. The same build, running on the latest iOS, succeeds on most devices but consistently fails on a few. Strangely, the paired Apple Watch version retrieves the data without problems. Could WeatherKit be applying per-user throttling? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
