Inquiry about apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt Security and Access
I have a question regarding the file apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt. I understand that this file is used during API access for Apple Pay Web payments. However, is it necessary for our company to access this file during the payment process? Also, this domain validation file is expected to be placed in the publicly accessible “.well-known” folder on our web server. Is it acceptable for this file to remain readable by third parties on the Internet, including Apple’s servers, without posing any security risks? Since this file is generated during domain registration on the Apple Developer site and is unique to our domain, we believe there should be no security concerns even if accessed by third parties. However, are there any specific security requirements for this domain validation file? Please note that the domain validation has already been successfully completed. We appreciate your time and look forward to your guidance. Best regards,

Generating ephemeralPublicKey for in-app provisioning
I am developing an app to add Discover cards to Apple Wallet. Unlike Visa, MasterCard, etc., Discover does not have APIs that return activationData, encryptedPassData and ephemeralPublicKey for a given card, so I have created a backend server to handle this. In my server, I am unsure how to generate the ephemeralPublicKey. Do I need to use the merchant certificate? If so, how do I use it to generate the ephemeralPublicKey? I would appreciate it if someone could provide me with a step-by-step guide on how to generate ephemeralPublicKey for provisioning a card.

Apple Subscriptions - Coupons/Offer codes
We are trying to develop a coupon/offer code module where our app users can avail a free trail offer for 2 months period after applying the code. We already had a subscription module with monthly & yearly subscriptions with 7 day free trial period. Now, we want to implement a offer/coupon module, where, a user can either select monthly or yearly subscription, and upon entering the offer/coupon code, they will get 2 months free trial (or) a discount on the chosen subscription. (this will overwrite the existing 7 day free trial). We are confused on choosing the type of “offer/coupon” from AppStore connect. In App Store connect, we have introductory offers, promotional offer & Offer codes. Based on our requirements, we have done research and found that we cannot implement the offer code & promotional codes in the develop environment as there is no possibility to test in Sandbox environment. We observed that we need to push the app to App store and upon approval, we need to implement “offer/coupon” module. Can some one please suggest or guide us on choosing the best solution for our requirement? Thanks in advance.

Handling Empty in_app Data in iOS Order Verification
Body: Hello, We are currently implementing iOS order verification and have encountered an issue. Some of the receipts we verify return with an empty in_app array, which makes it impossible to determine whether there is a valid in-app purchase. Below is the code we’re using for verification and the result we receive: Code Example: public function iosVerifyReceipt($receipt, $password = '', $sandbox = false) { $url = $sandbox ? 'https://sandbox.itunes.apple.com/verifyReceipt' : 'https://buy.itunes.apple.com/verifyReceipt'; if (empty($password)) { $data = json_encode(['receipt-data' => $receipt]); } else { $data = json_encode(['receipt-data' => $receipt, 'password' => $password]); } $ch = curl_init($url); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $data); $result = curl_exec($ch); curl_close($ch); $result = json_decode($result, true); $result = $result ?? []; $result['sandbox'] = $sandbox; if ($result['status'] != 0) { Log::warning('ios verify receipt failed', ['receipt' => $receipt, 'result' => $result, 'sandbox' => $sandbox]); if ($result['status'] == 21007) { return $this->iosVerifyReceipt($receipt, $password, true); } } return $result; } // Order validation check if (empty($result) || $result['status'] != 0) { throw new BadRequestHttpException("Ios Order Verify Error"); } $appItemId = $result['receipt']['app_item_id'] ?? ""; if ($appItemId != MY_APP_ID) { throw new BadRequestHttpException("Ios Order Verify Error"); } $inApp = array_filter( $result['receipt']['in_app'] ?? [], function ($item) use ($transactionId,$order) { return $item['transaction_id'] == $transactionId && $item['product_id'] == $order->getProductId(); } ); if (empty($inApp)) { throw new BadRequestHttpException( "Ios Order Verify Error"); } Array ( [receipt] => Array ( [receipt_type] => Production [adam_id] => * [app_item_id] => * [bundle_id] => * [application_version] => 5511 [download_id] => * [version_external_identifier] => * [receipt_creation_date] => 2025-02-11 04:06:47 Etc/GMT [receipt_creation_date_ms] => * [receipt_creation_date_pst] => 2025-02-10 20:06:47 America/Los_Angeles [request_date] => 2025-02-11 15:54:56 Etc/GMT [request_date_ms] => * [request_date_pst] => 2025-02-11 07:54:56 America/Los_Angeles [original_purchase_date] => 2025-02-11 04:02:41 Etc/GMT [original_purchase_date_ms] => * [original_purchase_date_pst] => 2025-02-10 20:02:41 America/Los_Angeles [original_application_version] => * [preorder_date] => 2025-01-17 21:12:28 Etc/GMT [preorder_date_ms] => * [preorder_date_pst] => 2025-01-17 13:12:28 America/Los_Angeles [in_app] => Array ( ) ) [environment] => Production [status] => 0 [sandbox] => )

Payment Services Exception when trying to create an Apple Pay Session
I'm trying to create an Apple Pay session for my website. I'm starting with curl for now, just to get proof of concept. curl --cert cert.pem --pass {passphrase} --header "Content-Type: application/json" --request POST --data '{"merchantIdentifier":"{merchantIdentifier}","displayName":"testDisplayName", "initiative": "web", "initiativeContext": "{domain}"}' https://apple-pay-gateway.apple.com/paymentservices/paymentSession This is the response I get back { "statusMessage": "Payment Services Exception merchantId={VERY-LONG-ID} not registered for domain={domain}", "statusCode": "400" } I'm not sure why this is happening. {domain} is in the form of sub.site.tld with no protocol, such as https, which matches what I see in the list of the domains in the merchant identity dashboard. The {merchantIdentifier} also matches what I see in the top right, but the merchantId in the response is something I don't recognize. It's a long string of characters that appears to be hexadecimal. I added the apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association file to my .well-known directory and the dashboard does report that the domain is verified. I am making the request from the web server that the domain resolves to, if that matters. I can't think of any reason this would be happening. I'm not sure where the long merchantId in the response is coming from. Does it matter that it doesn't match what I supplied in the request? As far as I can tell, I am using the correct merchantIdentifier. It matches the dashboard and the CN field of the certificate. I found this other post that seems to have a similar error: https://forums.developer.apple.com/forums/thread/671227 The main difference is a 417 status code instead of the 400 I got. But the problem here was that there was no payment processing certificate and I do have one of those. I haven't checked with my processor to verify that the certificate is published, but I will do that soon. I wouldn't expect that to matter. Maybe it does? What other reason could I be getting this error? Could it be a problem with my merchant identity certificate? It took a lot of effort to make it work. But I suspect it's fine, otherwise I wouldn't be getting a response from Apple at all. I can't think of any other possible problems.

Apple Pay Web Merchant Registration API
Hello, I am looking for some help on how to use the Apple Pay Web Merchant Registration API. Have been approved to use the API and attempted to test on a merchant ID set up for testing. Below are steps taken before the request. Create merchant ID com.test.merchant. Create Apple Pay Merchant Identity Certificate for using it with the request via p12. Create Platform Integrator platformintegrator.com.test With the below request, I am getting a 401. Any input would be much appreciated! curl --cert-type P12 --cert cert.p12:{password} -i -d '{\ "domainNames":["customer.test.com"],\ "partnerMerchantName": "customer.test.com",\ "partnerInternalMerchantIdentifier":"customer.test.com"}'\ "encryptTo":"com.test.merchant",\ https://apple-pay-gateway-cert.apple.com/paymentservices/registerMerchant The response: { "statusMessage": "Payment Services Exception Unauthorized", "statusCode": "401" } Also tried using the platformintegrator.com.test for the encryptTo but resulted in a 401 as well.

Renewal of merchant Domains fails and redirects to main page without errors
Hello we are trying to renew our certificates. We are trying to extend the dates of verified domains following the docs https://developer.apple.com/documentation/applepayontheweb/maintaining-your-environment#Renew-Your-Domain-Verification and configure our server with https://developer.apple.com/documentation/ApplePayontheWeb/setting-up-your-server We've downloaded the apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt and update it on their respective locations, click 'ok' button but we get redirected to the main page of the information of the merchant, and it shows the domains without the extending period of time. No popup showing what has failed or what could be the reason of this error, we only get a redirection to the main page.

Apple Pay Wallet API Access – Applied a Year AGO and Almost No Progress! Anyone Else?
Hey everyone, I wanted to check if anyone else has faced extreme delays when requesting access to Apple Pay Wallet APIs. It was Oct 11 2024 a year ago since we first applied to enable in-app provisioning for virtual cards in our app and we made 1% progress. For context, we already got access from Google for Google Wallet—it was smooth, professional, and timely. But with Apple… it’s been nothing but an endless cycle of waiting. We followed every step, submitted everything correctly, and even called Apple Developer Support multiple times. Their response? "We've escalated it." Again and again. But there’s no real progress. We’re rerouted, ignored, and left in limbo. At this point, I don’t even know if anyone is actually reviewing these requests. If a business like ours—fully compliant and ready to integrate—can’t even get a response in 150 day, how is this process supposed to work? I’m posting this here because I can’t be the only one. Has anyone else faced this? If you finally got access, how did you do it? Because right now, it feels like Apple Pay in-app provisioning is an impossible goal. Hoping someone from Apple sees this and realizes how broken this process is. We’re just trying to innovate and offer Apple users a great experience—why is it so difficult? Looking forward to hearing from anyone in the community who can help, Thanks! 🙏

How to Handle Subscription Requests Sent Directly to /apple/notifications
We received a request directly from /apple/notifications. This subscription is not a renewal, but a first-time purchase. We associate the originalTransactionId with the user's ID to identify the subscribed user. However, since we do not have access to the user's ID on our server through this direct request, we are unable to properly process the subscription. How should we handle this type of subscription request? What is the source of this subscription, and why are some users able to bypass in-app purchases for first-time subscriptions and make the purchase directly?

ApplePay integration with multiple providers
We have a checkout page on which clients can configure the providers we've integrated with for each currency. One such provider is Stripe, with which we have already integrated ApplePay and host a merchant domain association file. Now, we're getting requests to support ApplePay with other providers. The issue is that we can't tell Apple to use a different path to domain association file for domain verification. And, replacing the existing domain association file seems like a hack, since I believe it's needed for domain re-verification. We're thinking of using subdomains for serving the domain association files for different providers. But, we have some questions on how ApplePay domain verification works to understand how we can solve our problem. Firstly, can we use subdomains for individual domain verification? If we already have example.com verified with Stripe, can we serve the domain association file for the other provider with provider.example.com and have the verification work? Secondly, let's say our domain is example.com, and we can use provider.example.com to serve the domain association file and verify the domain. Then on example.com/checkout, will using an iframe with provider.example.com/applepay to host the ApplePay button work? This thread suggests otherwise, but we want to confirm. Lastly, is the only way to make an ApplePay payment for provider.example.com to use that subdomain? So redirecting to provider.example.com/applepay would work? Thanks for your help!

ApplePay: Flexible payments/scheduling
On Applepay's docs it talks about the ability to do "flexible" payments and scheduling for future purchases. We need to be able to make only a single approval of an Apple payment for multiple submissions later on. Think, deferred payments at an arbitrary schedule without presenting the ApplePay dialog each and every time. The docs suggest that may be possible, but are maddeningly vague on how to do that. Is it possible or not? Can we store an approved merchant's token for example and leverage that for future transactions?

mFi - WPC certification support
I am trying to get a pass reader certified through the mFi / WPC certification process. The problem I have is that the Certifier app will not allow testing results to be submitted due to some missing information. I need support to discuss the missing information, but I have received no replies from the email provided for WPC Certification Representative. Does anyone here know how to get support for the WPC Certification process?

Problem with cert validation and button show
Hi, I’ve been trying to integrate Apple Pay, but for some reason, the payment button is not showing up. The project is built with Laravel 11 and Vue. I imported the script as follows: <script crossorigin crossorigin src="https://applepay.cdn-apple.com/jsapi/1.latest/apple-pay-sdk.js" ></script> Then I added the following the steps: <style> apple-pay-button {{ --apple-pay-button-width: --apple-pay-button-width: 150px;; --apple-pay-button-height: --apple-pay-button-height: 30px;; --apple-pay-button-border-radius: --apple-pay-button-border-radius: 3px;; --apple-pay-button-padding: --apple-pay-button-padding: 0px 0px;; --apple-pay-button-box-sizing: border-box; } </style> <apple-pay-button buttonstyle="black" type="plain" locale="en-US"></apple-pay-button> I followed all the steps from the official Apple Pay demo: https://applepaydemo.apple.com/ I also configured the Content Security Policy (CSP) to allow all necessary resources. However, when I test my integration, the button doesn’t appear. I’ve checked the console, but there are no errors. At the same time, I have my certificate imported into the Keychain, and I’ve completed the entire process of creating both the certificate and the private key. However, when I try to validate the session using the certificate and key with Apple’s API, I get an error: 400 The SSL certificate error https://apple-pay-gateway-cert.apple.com/paymentservices/
