Can't establish spatial connection after visionOS update
After updating to visionOS 26.2 Beta 2 (and Beta 3), I'm unable to establish a spatial connection to Vision Pro. This was working fine before the update. To test, I've created a fresh spatialApp project from the Xcode template with zero modifications, but I'm hitting the same issue - the Vision Pro is discovered but won't connect. Am I forgetting to update the config somewhere? Any ideas what might be causing this and how to fix it? Thanks! ARKit Face Tracking works in total darkness?
I’ve seen, mainly in discussions with AIs, that ARFaceTrackingConfiguration uses the same technology as Face ID and therefore should work in complete darkness. However, I haven’t been able to achieve this. Does anyone know if this is actually true? I'm using an iPhone 16 to test, and the Face ID works well in darkness.

ARView environment.lighting IBL from HDR file
I have an iOS app that can display a USDZ model downloaded from the Internet (and cached locally) via an ARView. I would like to light that model with an image based light (IBL) also downloaded from the Internet. However, as far as I can tell, ARView can only create an IBL from a resource that has been compiled into the Xcode project and loaded with EnvironmentResource(named:in:) or EnvironmentResource.load(named:in:). Is there a way to create an EnvironmentResource from an HDRI via a file URL to use in ARView in iOS?

Real world anchors
I’m trying to build a persistent world map of my college campus using ARKit, but it’s not very reliable. Anchors don’t consistently appear in the same place across sessions. I’ve tried using image anchors, but they didn’t improve accuracy much. How can I create a stable world map for a larger area and reliably relocalize anchors? Are there better approaches or recommended resources for this?

FromToByAnimation triggers availableAnimations not the single bone animation
So, I was trying to animate a single bone using FromToByAnimation, but when I start the animation, the model instead does the full body animation stored in the availableAnimations. If I don't run testAnimation nothing happens. If I run testAnimation I see the same animation as If I had called entity.playAnimation(entity.availableAnimations[0],..) here's the full code I use to animate a single bone: func testAnimation() { guard let jawAnim = jawAnimation(mouthOpen: 0.4) else { print("Failed to create jawAnim") return } guard let creature, let animResource = try? AnimationResource.generate(with: jawAnim) else { return } let controller = creature.playAnimation(animResource, transitionDuration: 0.02, startsPaused: false) print("controller: \(controller)") } func jawAnimation(mouthOpen: Float) -> FromToByAnimation<JointTransforms>? { guard let basePose else { return nil } guard let index = basePose.jointNames.firstIndex(of: jawBoneName) else { print("Target joint \(self.jawBoneName) not found in default pose joint names") return nil } let fromTransforms = basePose.jointTransforms let baseJawTransform = fromTransforms[index] let maxAngle: Float = 40 let angle: Float = maxAngle * mouthOpen * (.pi / 180) let extraRot = simd_quatf(angle: angle, axis: simd_float3(x: 0, y: 0, z: 1)) var toTransforms = basePose.jointTransforms toTransforms[index] = Transform( scale: baseJawTransform.scale * 2, rotation: baseJawTransform.rotation * extraRot, translation: baseJawTransform.translation ) let fromToBy = FromToByAnimation<JointTransforms>( jointNames: basePose.jointNames, name: "jaw-anim", from: fromTransforms, to: toTransforms, duration: 0.1, bindTarget: .jointTransforms, repeatMode: .none, ) return fromToBy } PS: I can confirm that I can set this bone to a specific position if I use guard let index = newPose.jointNames.firstIndex(of: boneName) ... let baseTransform = basePose.jointTransforms[index] newPose.jointTransforms[index] = Transform( scale: baseTransform.scale, rotation: baseTransform.rotation * extraRot, translation: baseTransform.translation ) skeletalComponent.poses.default = newPose creatureMeshEntity.components.set(skeletalComponent) This works for manually setting the bone position, so the jawBoneName and the joint-transformation can't be that wrong.

How to best manage ARKitSession in concurrent code
I have a visionOS app where I instantiate ARKitSession and various providers (HandTrackingProvider and WorldTrackingProvider) in my appModel. That way, I can pass these providers to a Task which runs a gRPC server for sending the data from these providers to a client. When the users enters the immersive space of the app, the ARKitSession will run the providers if they are not running already. I am now trying to implement the AccessoryTrackingProvider with the PSVR sense controllers but it does not fit with my current framework because the controllers may not be connected when the ARKitSession.run function is called. So I need to find a new place to start the session. My question is, if I already have a session which is running the hand and world tracking providers, can I start another session to run the accessory tracking? Should they all be running on the same session? Is there a way to stop the session and restart it when the controllers are connected? When I tried this, I get an error that says "It is not possible to re-run a stopped data provider (<ar_hand_tracking_provider_t: " but if I instantiate a new HandTrackingProvider, then the one that got passed to the gRPC task would no longer be the one running in the new session. Any advice on how best to manage the various providers and ARKit sessions would be greatly appreciated.

How to mix Animation and IKRig in RealityKit
I want an AR character to be able to look at a position while still playing the characters animation. So far, I managed to manually adjust a single bone rotation using skeletalComponent.poses.default = Transform( scale: baseTransform.scale, rotation: lookAtRotation, translation: baseTransform.translation ) which I run at every rendering update, while a full body animation is running. But of course, hardcoding single joints to point into a direction (in my case the head) does not look as nice, as if I were to run some inverse cinematic that includes, hips + neck + head joints. I found some good IKRig code in Composing interactive 3D content with RealityKit and Reality Composer Pro. But when I try to adjust rigs while animations are playing, the animations are usually winning over the IKRig changes to the mesh.

visionOS 3d interactions like the native keyboard when no longer observed in passthrough
While using apple's vision pro, we noticed that we can continue to use the visionOS keyboard when we no longer actually see it in passthrough. In other words, when we focus on a field to type, visionOS displays the keyboard for us in such a way that we actually see it. Then, we noticed if we look away a little bit, either up, or down, or left, or right, in such a way that the keyboard is no longer visible by us in the passthrough, the keyboard still remains responsive to taps from our fingers at the location where it is. It seems the keyboard remains functional and responsive to taps even though we can no longer observe/see it. We are trying to figure out how to implement similar functionality in our app whereby the user can continue to manipulate a 3d entity when the user can no longer actually observe it in passthrough (like the visionOS keyboard appears to allow). I assume the visionOS keyboard has this functionality thanks to the downward facing sensors on the hardware that allow hand tracking even though the hands can no longer be observed by the user. That is likely how we can rest our hands on our lap is still be able to interact with visionOS. How can we implement a similar functionality for 3D entities? Is there a way to tap in, or to allow hand tracking, from those toward facing cameras? Is it possible to manipulate a 3D entity when it is no longer observed by the user for example when they shift their attention somewhere else in the field of vision? How does the visionOS keyboard achieve this?

Immersive environment learning material
I really love the immersive environments, but I don’t have experience with creating them. Do you have resources or tutorials you can recommend for creating these from scratch? I’ve seen the sample projects and videos, but they usually start in the middle, assuming you already have the assets created.

iOS needs to allow for background bluetooth scanning. I can't fully build my app.
iOS currently restricts background Bluetooth advertising and scanning in order to preserve battery life and protect user privacy. While these restrictions serve important purposes, they also limit legitimate use cases where users have explicitly opted in to proximity-based experiences. The core challenge is that modern social applications need a way to detect when users are physically present at the same location or event without requiring every participant to keep their app in the foreground. Under the current system, background BLE advertising is heavily throttled and can only transmit a limited payload, background scanning intervals are sparse and unpredictable, peer-to-peer proximity detection cannot be maintained reliably when apps are in the background, and Background App Refresh is non-deterministic, making any kind of time-based proximity validation impossible. A proposed enhancement would be to introduce an “Enhanced Proximity Permission.” This would allow developers to enable reliable background BLE advertising and scanning for declared time windows, such as a maximum of eight hours. It would also allow devices running the same app to detect each other’s proximity using ephemeral, rotating identifiers that preserve privacy, with clear user consent and prominent indicators whenever the feature is active. Unlocking this capability would open up new categories of applications. Live events could offer automatic attendance tracking at concerts, conferences, or sports venues. Retail environments could support opt-in foot traffic analysis and dwell-time insights. Social apps could allow users to find friends at festivals, campuses, or other large venues. Safety applications could extend to crowd density monitoring and contact tracing beyond COVID-era needs. Gaming could offer real-world multiplayer experiences based on physical proximity, and transportation providers could verify rideshare pickups or measure public transit flows automatically. Privacy safeguards would remain central. Permissions would be time-boxed and expire after an event or session. A mandatory visual indicator would be displayed whenever proximity tracking is active. A user-facing dashboard would show all apps granted enhanced proximity access. Permissions would automatically be revoked after a period of non-use, and only ephemeral tokens not permanent identifiers would be broadcast. The industry impact would be significant. With this enhancement, iOS could power the next generation of location-aware social platforms while maintaining Apple’s leadership in privacy through explicit user control and transparency. Current alternatives, such as requiring users to keep apps in the foreground or deploying dedicated hardware beacons, produce poor user experiences and constrain innovation in spatial computing and social applications. Can anyone from Apple consider this change? Having to buy iBeacons is brutal and means slower adoption. Please reconsider this for users who opt in.

visionOS Widget Bug
When I was developing the visionOS 26beta Widget, I found that it could not work normally when the real vision OS was running, and an error would appear. Please adopt container background api It is worth mentioning that this problem does not occur on the visionOS virtual machine. Does anyone know what the reason and solution are, or whether this is a visionOS error that needs Feedback? Thank you!

Do you retain a reference to your content events in RealityView?
Do you retain a reference to your content (RealityViewContent) events? For example, the Manipulation Events docs from Apple use _ to discard the result. In theory the event should keep working while the content is alive. _ = content.subscribe(to: ManipulationEvents.WillBegin.self) { event in event.entity.components[ModelComponent.self]?.materials[0] = SimpleMaterial(color: .blue, isMetallic: false) } _ = content.subscribe(to: ManipulationEvents.WillEnd.self) { event in event.entity.components[ModelComponent.self]?.materials[0] = SimpleMaterial(color: .red, isMetallic: false) } We could store these events in state. I've seen this in a few samples and apps. @State var beginSubscription: EventSubscription? ... beginSubscription = content.subscribe(to: ManipulationEvents.WillBegin.self) { event in event.entity.components[ModelComponent.self]?.materials[0] = SimpleMaterial(color: .blue, isMetallic: false) } The main advantage I see is that we can be more explicit about when we remove the event. Are there other reasons to keep a reference to these events?

How to Renew visionOS Enterprise API Entitlements?
How can I renew visionOS Enterprise API? I've spent so much time contacting Apple Developer Support. They said they don't know the renewal process either and are "checking with the internal operations team" - but it's been 2 months with no updates. The official documentation (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/visionOS/building-spatial-experiences-for-business-apps-with-enterprise-apis#Request-the-entitlements) says: "The license file comes with an expiration date, so you need to renew it before then to ensure your entitlements continue to function." But it doesn't explain HOW to renew. When I asked Apple Support about this, they told me: "After Apple approves your app for one or more entitlements, you receive a license file, along with additional instructions." But I never received any instructions when I was first approved, and I still don't know how to renew. There's also no direct way to contact the Enterprise API team. Now my visionOS Enterprise API license has been expired for 2 months. I submitted a renewal request, but I still haven't heard anything back. Is it normal to take more than 2 months for approval? Any advice or shared experiences would be really helpful. Thanks!

onWorldRecenter memory leak and duplicate callbacks in ImmersiveSpace
Posting this here in case this information is helpful to other developers: As of visionOS 26.3 beta 1, onWorldRecenter has two significant issues: (FB21557639) Memory Leak: When onWorldRecenter is assigned to a RealityView within an ImmersiveSpace, it appears to retain a strong reference to the view's internal SwiftUI context. When the immersive space is dismissed, the view's @State objects will not be deallocated. Also, each time the immersive space view's body is executed, additional state storage will be allocated and leaked. Multiple Callbacks: When the user long-presses the Digital Crown, the onWorldRecenter closure will be called multiple times, once for each past view body execution, including those of immersive space views that have been previously dismissed. Although these issues seem to be most prevalent when onWorldRecenter is used with an ImmersiveSpace, they may also occur in the context of a WindowGroup under certain circumstances. It's possible to work around this problem by moving onWorldRecenter to an empty overlay view within the app's primary WindowGroup and forwarding the world recenter events to ImmersiveSpace views through a notification system, coupled with a debouncer as an extra precaution.

Need to rotate child of a 3D mesh
I am creating a vision pro app with a 3D model, it has a mesh hierarchy of head, hands, feet etc. I want the character to look towards the camera, but am not able to access head of character through sceneKit nor reality kit. when I try to print names of the child meshes, it only prints till the character, it does iterate through all the body parts. Can anyone help?
