Failed Qualification After Receiving Default Mail Capability
Hi Apple DTS & community folks, I’m reaching out regarding an issue we’ve encountered with the com.apple.developer.mail-client capability for our app (bundle identifier: so.notion.Mail). We were granted this entitlement last week to allow the app to be set as a default Mail client. While everything works as expected when archiving and distributing builds locally in Xcode, we’re running into a problem when using Xcode Cloud. Specifically, Xcode Cloud attempts to archive and distribute an Ad-Hoc build, but the Ad-Hoc provisioning profile does not include this special entitlement. Since we’re using Xcode-managed profiles, we don’t have the ability to create or adjust an explicit profile ourselves. This issue only arises in Xcode Cloud—local distribution works unless we explicitly attempt an Ad-Hoc build (which is not our intent). I’ve included a screenshot of the error for reference. We found this forum post describing the same issue, where the resolution was Apple enabling the entitlement for Ad-Hoc builds. We’d like to request that Apple enable this capability for Ad-Hoc builds for the Notion Mail application so that Xcode Cloud distribution functions correctly. Thank you for your help!

Previously verified apps failing to verify online with gatekeeper
I have an application that I have been signing, notarizing and distributing to beta testers for a year with no issues, note: I have never got stapling to work I always get a error 65 in the process. But up until yesterday that hasn't been an issue and online verification has always worked. Yesterday morning around 9am online gatekeeper verification has been failing with: APP not opened, apple cannot verify app is free of malware. etc this keeps happening, with every build I try. redownloading previously successful builds show the same behavior I know I can allow in privacy and security, but heading towards launch I dont want to have to tell users to do that. has there been a change in how gatekeeper works or issues with the service? any help with this or getting stapling working would be very appreciated!

Family Control Entitlements not recognized when distributing
I have been approved for family controls entitlements and see them in my apple certificates for my bundle identifier. I see them listed for Distribution in my Runner, however, when I try to distribute I get the error that I do not have the right permissions. Do I need to get the entitlements for each extension I have as well? I have three extensions that use the family controls.

Notarization Fails: “The binary is not signed with a valid Developer ID certificate” for Flutter macOS App Plugins (file_picker, file_saver, url_launcher_macos)
Hi all, I’m trying to notarize a Flutter macOS app built in CI (GitHub Actions). The app builds and signs fine locally—codesign --verify --deep --strict and spctl --assess both pass. However, Apple’s notarization service consistently rejects the app with errors like: The binary is not signed with a valid Developer ID certificate: file_picker.framework The binary is not signed with a valid Developer ID certificate: file_saver.framework The binary is not signed with a valid Developer ID certificate: url_launcher_macos.framework What I’ve tried: Explicitly re-signing all frameworks with my Developer ID Application certificate and --timestamp Removing existing signatures before re-signing Ensuring correct entitlements and bundle identifier Matching the app bundle name and identifier in all places Using both codesign --deep and manual signing of each binary Local validation always passes, but notarization fails in CI Certificate: I am using a “Developer ID Application” certificate (not a “Mac Developer” or “Apple Development” certificate). The output of codesign -dvv for the problematic frameworks shows: Authority=Developer ID Application: [My Name/Team] ([Team ID]) So I believe I am not making the common mistake of using the wrong certificate type. "mapped file has no cdhash, completely unsigned?" when cdhash exists
Hi, I have created a conda python environment which I have packaged into a .tar.gz (using conda-pack) and which runs correctly when extracted (in this example, it only contains the scipy package). However, when I sign the necessary files within the environment (i.e. the binaries, the dylibs, the .so files), attempting to load scipy.sparse now fails with the error "mapped file has no cdhash, completely unsigned" about one of the .so files. Furthermore, I believe that this file does in fact have a cdhash. The signing process represented by my example below has been working for about a year, and I am unsure why it has suddenly stopped working. I am on a 2020 MacBook Pro with an i7 processor and running Sequoia 15.1.1. Here is a minimal example showing the creating of the conda environment, codesigning, and the error message. Main Camera Access Entitlement Bug
Hello everyone can you help me, i have requested main camera access API Enterprise and have got the license to, and i have setting up the project main camera access demo from apple with my new license and have create app bundle and identifier for it but when i tried to deploy it test flight i got some error say "Profile doesn't support Main Camera Access" and "Profile doesn't include the com.apple.developer.arkit.main-camera-access.alow entitlement, even have do it it app Certificates, Identifiers &amp; Profiles and add the additional capability Main Camera Access. can you help me fixing this so that i can use Main Camera Access Entitlement

disable-library-validation entitlement makes app unlaunchable
An open-source app that I bundle for macOS needs to use the disable-library-validation entitlement. In spite of TN3125: Inside Code Signing: Provisioning Profiles | Apple Developer Documentation#Entitlements-on-macOS claiming that hardened runtime entitlements don't need provisioning profiles and the app successfully notarizing, trying to run the app fails with the error "Disallowing because no eligible provisioning profiles found". So I created a provisioning profile, but when creating the App ID the only selection that seemed relevant was Hardened Runtime. That turns out not to include disable-library-validation so now launching fails with "Unsatisfied entitlements: >com.apple.security.cs.disable-library-validation" What's the right capability?

Multiple Executables in a Single Bundle Fails to Launch Others After Codesign
We have a rather complex network of dependencies for our application stack and, from it, we create multiple unique executables that are placed into the Contents/MacOS directory of our bundle. MyApp.app `- Contents/ `- Frameworks/... `- MacOS/ `- exec_a `- exec_b `- Resources/... Both executables require the same dependencies (and use the same shared .dylib files built as targets in the same project) so it makes sense for them to be in the same place rather than in their own .app folder as I understand it. Qt Libs -> core_lib.dylib -> gui_lib.dylib -> exec_a `-> exec_b etc. We've confirmed build artifacts are correct and the rpath/dependencies are all clean. When in development, all executables run as expected and we can command exec_a (the executable we're listing in the primary Info.plist) to launch exec_b at any time. Once the bundle is signed, however, we cannot get exec_b to launch in any capacity. Even lldb dies right away because it can't attach to anything. We assume this is something in the gatekeeper area of blocking these additional executables. We get the following when trying to run those additional exes in any way: Trace/BPT trap: 5 We're using macdeployqt to finalize the bundle and bring in the correct packages - perhaps something it's doing is causing the additional executables to fail or we're missing an entitlement. We've submitted the app to TestFlights successfully even with these invalid executables to see if there was something the processing of the app would find but so far nothing. We've seen other example of applications with multiple executables in the same MacOS directory and are wondering what the difference is. Any hints or guidance would be great. Thank you!

Broadcast-Upload Entitlement
Hi, I am developing an iOS app that includes a ReplayKit Broadcast Upload Extension which requires the com.apple.developer.broadcast-upload entitlement. The app is intended for internal development and testing on my own devices and is not yet distributed on the App Store. Even after setting com.apple.developer.broadcast-upload=true in my .entitlements file, and linking it in Build Settings &gt; Code Signing Entitlements; my downloaded provisional profile still did not contain the broadcast-upload entitlement. May I know if I need explicit Apple's approval for adding the broadcast-upload entitlement; even if it's just for testing on my own devices? Thanks.

Is "library-validation" implied by hardened runtime?
We recently had an external pentest for one of our company's macOS applications and they brought up the topic of library validation. Our app has hardened runtime enabled and passes notarization. The codesign verification output includes: flags=0x10000(runtime) The pentesters brought up that both validation and runtime should be present, so I discovered that you could also add library validation by augmenting our flags with: OTHER_CODE_SIGN_FLAGS = --timestamp -o library which changes the flags to: flags=0x12000(library-validation,runtime) The pentesters insist that both options are necessary, especially to avoid library injection when SIP is off, but Apple's docs say that hardened runtime already implies library validation (see here ) My question is: does explicitly specifying library validation provide something that hardened runtime does not already? Or is it correct that hardened runtime already imply library validation? For what it's worth, I did a quick scan of some of the apps on my system, interesting some of the Apple system apps have only library validation (e.g. Safari, Photos), some have both (e.g. Podcasts), some have only hardened runtime (e.g. Mail). So that didn't help answer the question. Thank you!

Xcode not recognizing approved User Assigned Device Name capability in provisioning profile
Hi, I am experiencing an issue where Xcode displays a "Provisioning profile doesn't support the capability" error for the User Assigned Device Name capability, despite it being approved by Apple and visible in our provisioning profile on the Developer Portal. Background We have completed and submitted the required capability request form to Apple for the User Assigned Device Name capability and received approval. The capability appears correctly in our provisioning profile on the Apple Developer Portal and shows among the enabled capabilities alongside other standard capabilities like In-App Purchase and Push Notifications. Certificate not showing under "My Certificates" in Keychain (no private key attached)
I am trying to set up code signing for my macOS/Tauri app and I’m running into a problem with my Developer ID Application certificate in Keychain Access. Steps I followed: Generated a CSR on my Mac using Keychain Access → Certificate Assistant → Request a Certificate From a Certificate Authority. Uploaded the CSR to the Apple Developer portal. Downloaded the resulting .cer file and installed it in my login Keychain. The certificate appears under All Items, but it does not show under My Certificates, and there is no private key attached. What I expected: The certificate should pair with the private key created during CSR generation and show under My Certificates, allowing me to export a .p12 file. What I’ve tried so far: Verified that the WWDR Intermediate Certificate is installed. Ensured I’m on the same Mac and same login Keychain where I created the CSR. Revoked and regenerated the certificate multiple times. Tried importing into both login and system Keychains. Problem: The certificate never links with the private key and therefore cannot be used for signing. Has anyone experienced this issue or knows why the certificate would fail to pair with the private key in Keychain Access? Any workaround or fix would be greatly appreciated.

"this identity cannot be used for signing code"
When building to macOS on GameMaker, I get the error "this identity cannot be used for signing code" when using the Developer ID Installer certificate. The certificate was neither expired nor revoked, but nonetheless I created new certificates to start fresh but am still getting that error. I don't get issues building to iOS via GameMaker, just to macOS. If it makes any difference, I only noticed this issue started happening after I converted my Apple Developer Program account from an individual account to an organizational account, although it was weeks to months before I built to macOS via GameMaker before then, so I don't know if it correlates with that.

Is it Possible to Have Stray Content in a macOS Framework?
Is it possible to have some additional content at Versions/A/ in a macOS Framework bundle that is not in any of the standard folders? Will there be any side-effects during signing and notarization? The reason is it'd be a lot easier in my use case to be able to put content here instead of the Resources folder.

Xcode:Automatic signing failed
In xcode, the signing&amp;capabilities TAB for ios says: Automatic signing failed Xcode failed to provision this target. Please file a bug report at https://feedbackassistant.apple.com and include the Update Signing report from the Report navigator. Provisioning profile "iOS Team Provisioning Profile: com.kikk.morsecode" doesn't include the com.apple.developer.in-app-purchase entitlement. Even though I've already configured the corresponding Certificates, Identifiers &amp; Profiles in developer Does anyone have the same problem? My Version of xcode is Version 15.4 (15F31d), running on m2pro.

App works fine in development but crashes in hardened runtime
I am building an application using .NET and Avalonia UI. The application is cross-platform. One of the tasks of the application is to coordinate data collection that is then routed into a Docker container for analysis. Everything works as expected in Windows. Everything works as expected in macOS on the development workstation and before packaging. After I package/codesign into a hardened runtime, I start seeing crashes at the moment when I try to execute the system calls to Docker. I am reasonably confident that this has something to do with an entitlement flag or some other permissions issue. I have been trying to sort this on my own for a while. I am only hoping someone can nudge me in the right direction. Thanks, Kevin

Failed Qualification After Receiving Default Mail Capability
Hi Apple DTS & community folks, I’m reaching out regarding an issue we’ve encountered with the com.apple.developer.mail-client capability for our app (bundle identifier: so.notion.Mail). We were granted this entitlement last week to allow the app to be set as a default Mail client. While everything works as expected when archiving and distributing builds locally in Xcode, we’re running into a problem when using Xcode Cloud. Specifically, Xcode Cloud attempts to archive and distribute an Ad-Hoc build, but the Ad-Hoc provisioning profile does not include this special entitlement. Since we’re using Xcode-managed profiles, we don’t have the ability to create or adjust an explicit profile ourselves. This issue only arises in Xcode Cloud—local distribution works unless we explicitly attempt an Ad-Hoc build (which is not our intent). I’ve included a screenshot of the error for reference. We found this forum post describing the same issue, where the resolution was Apple enabling the entitlement for Ad-Hoc builds. We’d like to request that Apple enable this capability for Ad-Hoc builds for the Notion Mail application so that Xcode Cloud distribution functions correctly. Thank you for your help!

Previously verified apps failing to verify online with gatekeeper
I have an application that I have been signing, notarizing and distributing to beta testers for a year with no issues, note: I have never got stapling to work I always get a error 65 in the process. But up until yesterday that hasn't been an issue and online verification has always worked. Yesterday morning around 9am online gatekeeper verification has been failing with: APP not opened, apple cannot verify app is free of malware. etc this keeps happening, with every build I try. redownloading previously successful builds show the same behavior I know I can allow in privacy and security, but heading towards launch I dont want to have to tell users to do that. has there been a change in how gatekeeper works or issues with the service? any help with this or getting stapling working would be very appreciated!

Family Control Entitlements not recognized when distributing
I have been approved for family controls entitlements and see them in my apple certificates for my bundle identifier. I see them listed for Distribution in my Runner, however, when I try to distribute I get the error that I do not have the right permissions. Do I need to get the entitlements for each extension I have as well? I have three extensions that use the family controls.

Hi all, I’m trying to notarize a Flutter macOS app built in CI (GitHub Actions). The app builds and signs fine locally—codesign --verify --deep --strict and spctl --assess both pass. "mapped file has no cdhash, completely unsigned?" when cdhash exists
Hi, I have created a conda python environment which I have packaged into a .tar.gz (using conda-pack) and which runs correctly when extracted (in this example, it only contains the scipy package). However, when I sign the necessary files within the environment (i.e. the binaries, the dylibs, the .so files), attempting to load scipy.sparse now fails with the error "mapped file has no cdhash, completely unsigned" about one of the .so files. Furthermore, I believe that this file does in fact have a cdhash. The signing process represented by my example below has been working for about a year, and I am unsure why it has suddenly stopped working. Main Camera Access Entitlement Bug
Hello everyone can you help me, i have requested main camera access API Enterprise and have got the license to, and i have setting up the project main camera access demo from apple with my new license and have create app bundle and identifier for it but when i tried to deploy it test flight i got some error say "Profile doesn't support Main Camera Access" and "Profile doesn't include the com.apple.developer.arkit.main-camera-access.alow entitlement, even have do it it app Certificates, Identifiers &amp; Profiles and add the additional capability Main Camera Access. can you help me fixing this so that i can use Main Camera Access Entitlement

disable-library-validation entitlement makes app unlaunchable
An open-source app that I bundle for macOS needs to use the disable-library-validation entitlement. In spite of TN3125: Inside Code Signing: Provisioning Profiles | Apple Developer Documentation#Entitlements-on-macOS claiming that hardened runtime entitlements don't need provisioning profiles and the app successfully notarizing, trying to run the app fails with the error "Disallowing because no eligible provisioning profiles found". So I created a provisioning profile, but when creating the App ID the only selection that seemed relevant was Hardened Runtime. That turns out not to include disable-library-validation so now launching fails with "Unsatisfied entitlements: >com.apple.security.cs.disable-library-validation" What's the right capability?

Multiple Executables in a Single Bundle Fails to Launch Others After Codesign
We have a rather complex network of dependencies for our application stack and, from it, we create multiple unique executables that are placed into the Contents/MacOS directory of our bundle. MyApp.app `- Contents/ `- Frameworks/... `- MacOS/ `- exec_a `- exec_b `- Resources/... Both executables require the same dependencies (and use the same shared .dylib files built as targets in the same project) so it makes sense for them to be in the same place rather than in their own .app folder as I understand it. Qt Libs -> core_lib.dylib -> gui_lib.dylib -> exec_a `-> exec_b etc. We've confirmed build artifacts are correct and the rpath/dependencies are all clean. When in development, all executables run as expected and we can command exec_a (the executable we're listing in the primary Info.plist) to launch exec_b at any time. Once the bundle is signed, however, we cannot get exec_b to launch in any capacity. Even lldb dies right away because it can't attach to anything. We assume this is something in the gatekeeper area of blocking these additional executables. We get the following when trying to run those additional exes in any way: Trace/BPT trap: 5 We're using macdeployqt to finalize the bundle and bring in the correct packages - perhaps something it's doing is causing the additional executables to fail or we're missing an entitlement. We've submitted the app to TestFlights successfully even with these invalid executables to see if there was something the processing of the app would find but so far nothing. We've seen other example of applications with multiple executables in the same MacOS directory and are wondering what the difference is. Any hints or guidance would be great. Thank you!

Broadcast-Upload Entitlement
Hi, I am developing an iOS app that includes a ReplayKit Broadcast Upload Extension which requires the com.apple.developer.broadcast-upload entitlement. The app is intended for internal development and testing on my own devices and is not yet distributed on the App Store. Even after setting com.apple.developer.broadcast-upload=true in my .entitlements file, and linking it in Build Settings &gt; Code Signing Entitlements; my downloaded provisional profile still did not contain the broadcast-upload entitlement. May I know if I need explicit Apple's approval for adding the broadcast-upload entitlement; even if it's just for testing on my own devices? Thanks.

Is "library-validation" implied by hardened runtime?
We recently had an external pentest for one of our company's macOS applications and they brought up the topic of library validation. Our app has hardened runtime enabled and passes notarization. The codesign verification output includes: flags=0x10000(runtime) The pentesters brought up that both validation and runtime should be present, so I discovered that you could also add library validation by augmenting our flags with: OTHER_CODE_SIGN_FLAGS = --timestamp -o library which changes the flags to: flags=0x12000(library-validation,runtime) The pentesters insist that both options are necessary, especially to avoid library injection when SIP is off, but Apple's docs say that hardened runtime already implies library validation (see here ) My question is: does explicitly specifying library validation provide something that hardened runtime does not already? Or is it correct that hardened runtime already imply library validation? For what it's worth, I did a quick scan of some of the apps on my system, interesting some of the Apple system apps have only library validation (e.g. Safari, Photos), some have both (e.g. Podcasts), some have only hardened runtime (e.g. Mail). So that didn't help answer the question. Thank you!

Xcode not recognizing approved User Assigned Device Name capability in provisioning profile
Hi, I am experiencing an issue where Xcode displays a "Provisioning profile doesn't support the capability" error for the User Assigned Device Name capability, despite it being approved by Apple and visible in our provisioning profile on the Developer Portal. Background We have completed and submitted the required capability request form to Apple for the User Assigned Device Name capability and received approval. The capability appears correctly in our provisioning profile on the Apple Developer Portal and shows among the enabled capabilities alongside other standard capabilities like In-App Purchase and Push Notifications. Issue However, Xcode consistently displays the error message when trying to enable the User Assigned Device Name capability in our project settings, preventing successful builds with this functionality. Certificate not showing under "My Certificates" in Keychain (no private key attached)
I am trying to set up code signing for my macOS/Tauri app and I’m running into a problem with my Developer ID Application certificate in Keychain Access. Steps I followed: Generated a CSR on my Mac using Keychain Access → Certificate Assistant → Request a Certificate From a Certificate Authority. Uploaded the CSR to the Apple Developer portal. Downloaded the resulting .cer file and installed it in my login Keychain. The certificate appears under All Items, but it does not show under My Certificates, and there is no private key attached. What I expected: The certificate should pair with the private key created during CSR generation and show under My Certificates, allowing me to export a .p12 file. What I’ve tried so far: Verified that the WWDR Intermediate Certificate is installed. Ensured I’m on the same Mac and same login Keychain where I created the CSR. Revoked and regenerated the certificate multiple times. Tried importing into both login and system Keychains. Problem: The certificate never links with the private key and therefore cannot be used for signing. Has anyone experienced this issue or knows why the certificate would fail to pair with the private key in Keychain Access? Any workaround or fix would be greatly appreciated.

"this identity cannot be used for signing code"
When building to macOS on GameMaker, I get the error "this identity cannot be used for signing code" when using the Developer ID Installer certificate. The certificate was neither expired nor revoked, but nonetheless I created new certificates to start fresh but am still getting that error. I don't get issues building to iOS via GameMaker, just to macOS. If it makes any difference, I only noticed this issue started happening after I converted my Apple Developer Program account from an individual account to an organizational account, although it was weeks to months before I built to macOS via GameMaker before then, so I don't know if it correlates with that.

Is it Possible to Have Stray Content in a macOS Framework?
Is it possible to have some additional content at Versions/A/ in a macOS Framework bundle that is not in any of the standard folders? Will there be any side-effects during signing and notarization? The reason is it'd be a lot easier in my use case to be able to put content here instead of the Resources folder.

Xcode:Automatic signing failed
In xcode, the signing&amp;capabilities TAB for ios says: Automatic signing failed Xcode failed to provision this target. Please file a bug report at https://feedbackassistant.apple.com and include the Update Signing report from the Report navigator. Provisioning profile "iOS Team Provisioning Profile: com.kikk.morsecode" doesn't include the com.apple.developer.in-app-purchase entitlement. Even though I've already configured the corresponding Certificates, Identifiers &amp; Profiles in developer Does anyone have the same problem? My Version of xcode is Version 15.4 (15F31d), running on m2pro.

App works fine in development but crashes in hardened runtime
I am building an application using .NET and Avalonia UI. The application is cross-platform. One of the tasks of the application is to coordinate data collection that is then routed into a Docker container for analysis. Everything works as expected in Windows. Everything works as expected in macOS on the development workstation and before packaging. After I package/codesign into a hardened runtime, I start seeing crashes at the moment when I try to execute the system calls to Docker. I am reasonably confident that this has something to do with an entitlement flag or some other permissions issue. I have been trying to sort this on my own for a while. I am only hoping someone can nudge me in the right direction. Thanks, Kevin
