How can user allow a content filter after previously choosing "Don't Allow"?
Our enterprise product uses a content filter, normally customers deploy MDM profiles to authorise and allow the content filter to work. Some customers however do not use these profiles, requiring them to enable the system extension in System Settings and allow the content filter via the popup below. If the user selects "Don't Allow", intentionally or by mistake, there does not appear to be an mechanism for them to change their mind and allow it instead. If the user fails to enable the system extension on the first prompt, there is an option to enable if via System Settings. There doesn't seem to be a similar option if they "Don't Allow" the content filter. How can the user allow a previously denied content filter?

Problem NumberFormatter with Locale
We have identified an issue when using NumberFormatter with the locale set to it_IT. Specifically, when formatting numbers with exactly four integer digits, the grouping separator is not applied: for example, the number is displayed as 4000,00 instead of the expected 4.000,00. This behavior occurs only with four-digit integers; for instance, 40.000,00 is formatted correctly. The issue appears to affect only iOS 18.4 and later versions.

How to set NEDNSSettings port, or how to bind on port 53 for MacOS Network Extension?
In my Packet Tunnel Provider, I'm setting the NEDNSSettings to localhost as I have a local DNS server listening on port 53 (this is a dns forwarder which conditionally forwards to different upstreams based on rules). On iOS it works just fine, I'm able to listen on localhost:53 in the Network Extension, then set NEDNSSettings servers to "127.0.0.1". However on macOS due to the port being under 1024, I get a Permission denied OS code 13 error. I'm assuming this is due to the Network Extension not running as root. Can this be changed? This could be rectified if you could customize the port in NEDNSSettings, as the listener could be on port 5353, but it doesn't look like it is possible? Just wondering if there is some other way to accomplish what I'm trying to do in the macOS Network Extension?

How to Display Multiple Media Contents in the Now Playing Control Center?
Hello everyone, I am currently developing a media playback app and want to achieve the following functionality: Display multiple media contents in the Now Playing control center, instead of just showing the currently playing one. Allow users to select and switch between different contents, such as videos, music, etc., from the control center. However, I have encountered some issues: Although I have integrated the Now Playing control center, it only displays the current media being played. I would like to display multiple selectable media contents (such as a video list, music list, etc.) in the control center, similar to what is done by some media player apps, and allow users to switch between them. I’ve tried the following methods: Using MPNowPlayingInfoCenter to update the current playing media information. Attempting to set MPNowPlayingInfoPropertyPlaybackQueueCount to show multiple items in the queue, but it doesn’t seem to work. Can anyone provide guidance on how to display multiple media contents in the Now Playing control center? Any experienced developers who could share their insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much for your help and feedback!

Security scoped bookmarks not valid anymore in macOS 14.7.5 / 13.7.5
Security scoped bookmarks that were created before updating to macOS 14.7.5 cannot be resolved anymore after updating to macOS 14.7.5. Reproduction: Sandboxed app on macOS version 14.7.4 Create and store a security scoped bookmark to a user selected folder: let url: URL = <user selected url from NSOpenPanel> let data = try url.bookmarkData(options: [.withSecurityScope], includingResourceValuesForKeys: nil, relativeTo: nil) <persistently store data> Update to macOS 14.7.5 Resolve the previously stored bookmark: let data: Data = <restore data from persistent storage> var stale: Bool = true let url = try URL(resolvingBookmarkData: data, options: [.withSecurityScope], relativeTo: nil, bookmarkDataIsStale: &stale) Expected: The bookmark is resolved correctly and the resulting url can be used to access the folder/file in the sandboxed app after starting access. Observed: URL(resolvingBookmarkData:) throws an error: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=259 "The file couldn’t be opened because it isn’t in the correct format." New security scoped bookmarks created on macOS 14.5.7 can be resolved without issue. The same appears to happen with macOS 13.7.5. Entitlements: com.apple.security.app-sandbox com.apple.security.files.bookmarks.app-scope com.apple.security.files.user-selected.read-write This is very disruptive, as it appears that Sandboxed apps cannot access any previously stored bookmarks anymore. Particularly after the recent ScopedBookmarkAgent issues in 14.7.1 and 15.0, which were resolved in 14.7.3/15.1 respectively: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/764435

Storing metadata alongside files outside of sandbox
Hello all, I'm the developer of REHex, a hex editor which I have been distributing as an app bundle outside of the app store for a few years. REHex allows assigning various bits of metadata (comments, data types, etc) which get stored as filename.rehex-meta alongside the original filename, this works fine when the app is just a standalone bundle, however, when distributed via the app store, sandboxing seems to be mandatory, and there doesn't appear to be any obvious way to get permission to read/write such files. As fallbacks, I've considered adding support for storing the metadata as an extended attribute instead (which breaks compatibility, and won't translate when the file is on a FAT/etc filesystem or network share), or popping up the save/load dialog a second time for the user to select a .rehex-meta file, adding it to the list of whitelisted files for the application (keeps compatibility, but UX is clunky). Are there any ways I can work around this, or perhaps other methods I should consider for storing the metadata in an Apple-tolerant manner? Thanks

[Widget] ChronoKit.InteractiveWidgetActionRunner.Errors.runnerClientError `There is no metadata for `
In our widget we include a button with an intent, making a network call to refresh some shared data in its perform(). Whether the call finishes in time or not is not important to us, what matters more is that the widget gets reloaded at the end and displays whatever data it has available with its transition animation. On iOS18.0 we see the widget being reloaded but on the latest version 18.4 this doesn't happen anymore. Going through the logs, on both devices we see this same flow: default 2025-04-10 15:05:26.853674 +0300 WidgetRenderer_Default Evaluating dispatch of UIEvent: 0x300e002a0; type: 0; subtype: 0; backing type: 11; The intent is pretty standard, it contains only the title, localizedDescription and is defined only inside the widget.

How to register ContactProviderDomain
Hi there, we are implementing the new ContactProviderExtension introduced in iOS 18 and we are able to activate the extension, add data and everything. But we want to add domains to seperate contacts and currently we are getting an error "ContactProvider.ContactProviderError.domainNotRegistered". That makes sense because in the API docu we are not finding a way to register our domains. We are using ContactProviderDomain to create domains but we are not able to find any function to register. Could you please give a hint? Thank you

Specify location for SwiftUI Previews
I'm working on an app that uses MapKit and CoreLocation. Is there a way to specify what location is simulated for a Preview, or create a preview that behaves as if the user denied location permissions, so that I can easily test my app's behavior in different scenarios? I know that you can simulate different locations in the Simulator, but haven't been able to get the previews within Xcode to have a location other than the center of Apple Park.

Does USB Audio in macOS support 12 channels with 16bit PCM samples?
I have a custom USB Audio Class 2 (UAC2) compatible device. When I connect this custom device to a MacBook with a configuration of up to 10 channels (16-bit), everything seems to work fine. However, when I increase the channel count to 12, the MacBook does not recognize the 12 channels. It only shows the channel count as 0. TN2274 is the only source where I found some information about Apple's Audio Class Drivers, but it doesn't mention any limitations regarding channel counts. Could you let me know the current limitations of the Audio Class Drivers on the latest macOS versions? What configuration should I use to get 12 channels working? P.S. I also found that a 12-channel, 8-bit configuration is detected by the MacBook, bit I want it to work with 16bits. For more detail please check FB17098863

Bonjour Conformance Test - Multiple Instance in Single Device
We are currently working on a zero-configuration networking compliant device thru avahi-daemon. Our Device want to have multiple Instance name for different services. Example InstanceA._ipps._tcp.local. InstanceA._ipp._tcp.local. InstanceB._ipps._tcp.local. InstanceB._ipp._tcp.local. Will BCT confuse this as multiple device connected in the network and cause it to fail? Does Bonjour only allows only a Single Instance name with multiple services?

Interactive Live Activity Bug in iOS 18 - perform not called
In iOS 18 (beta 1-4) when you set openAppWhenRun = false in your AppIntent of your live activity the perform function never gets called. In iOS 16 and 17 my live activities work. I have downloaded other apps and in their live activities any button tab which doesn´t open the app is also doing nothing in iOS 18. Has anyone got this working? Any comments from an Apple engineer on this?

Question about listen on the utun interface to serve as system dns server
Hello, Recently I am trying to add stub dns server to my Network Extension (a VPN app), after some research on this forum, and since my language is C, I have the following plan: create a udp socket which use setsockopt(IP_BOUND_IF) to bound the socket to the utun if index obtained, and also bind to the address of the utun address I set(let's say 192.168.99.2), then listen on the udp port 53 which is ready to handle dns request. configure the dns server to 192.168.99.2 in the provider's Network Settings, thus iOS system will send udp query to the udp socket created in step 1, and it can then do some split dns function such as resolve using local interface (cellular or wifi), or some nameserve which will be routed to the VPN tunnel (will create new UDP socket and do IP_BOUND_IF to ensure the traffic will enter the VPN tunnel), and the result should be return to the system and then the non VPP apps. But I observer weird issue, indeed I can get the system send the dns request to the listening udp socket and I can get the result write to the system(address like 192.168.99.2:56144, the port should be allocated by the iOS system's DNS component) without any failure(I did get some error before due to I using the wrong utun if index, but fixed it later), but it seems non VPN app like browser can't get the resolved ip for domains. I want to ask is this limited by the sandbox? or any special sock opt I need to do. Thanks. PS: in the provider's network settings, all the system's traffic will be point to the utun, which means the VPN process will process all the traffic. the reason I do not set the dns server to utun peers side which is my userspace networking stack's ip (192.168.99.1) is the stack is not be able to leverage some dns libraries due to architecture issue. (it's fd.io vpp which we ported to apple platform).

Device Activity Report Not showing any information
All After about 20 hours straight of working on this and having scrapped it twice I am realizing I should have asked everyone here for help. I am just trying to get device activity report extension to work inside an existing app. I have been heavily using family controls, managedsettings and deviceactivity and decided it would be nice to output some of the app usage so the User (parent) can see their children's app usage. I installed the target via xcode, confirmed group names match, and think I have it embedded correctly but when I run the app and call the view within the extension to show minutes used by any apps it just shows no time has been used. In addition, when I put print statements into the extension they do not show up in console. I have confirmed the main app target->Build phases->Link binary with Libraries has: ManagedSettings.framework FamilyControls.Framework DeviceActivity.framework I have confirmed in xcode that the main app target->Build phases -> Embed Foundation Extensions has: ShieldConfiguration.appex ShieldActionExtension.appex DeviceActivityMonitor.appex I have confirmed in xcode that the main app target->Build phases-> Embed ExtensionKit Extensions has: UsageReportExtension.appex I have used the apps I am trying to show data for extensively in the last 36 hours. How to Access WiFi Connection Channel in iOS App?
Hi everyone, I'm developing an enterprise iOS application and need to access the WiFi connection channel. I understand that Apple's privacy and security policies restrict direct access to certain network details, including the WiFi connection channel. After some research, I found that this data might be accessible via the private API MobileWiFi.framework. However, when I tried to use this framework, I encountered the following error: Missing com.apple.wifi.manager-access entitlement I reached out to Apple regarding this entitlement, but they were not familiar with it, suggesting it might be deprecated. Here are my questions: Is there an official or supported way to access the WiFi connection channel in an enterprise iOS app? If not, is there any workaround or additional steps required to use the MobileWiFi.framework without encountering the entitlement error? Are there any specific entitlements or provisioning profile configurations that I need to be aware of to resolve this issue? Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Live Activity - Firebase Cloud Messaging, APNs iOS 18+
Hello, We are using the Firebase Admin SDK (firebase-admin framework) to send push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for Live Activity updates in our iOS app. With the introduction of iOS 18, a new key "input-push-token": 1 has been added to the Live Activities push payload structure. 1) Can this new key ("input-push-token": 1) be used when sending payloads via FCM? We noticed that FCM is still using the push update format introduced in iOS 17.2. Will FCM be updated to support the new push structure introduced with iOS 18? Or is the "input-push-token" feature only available when sending notifications via direct APNs? 2) We are concerned about the expiration of the Live Activity start push token. If a user doesn't open the app for a long time, the token may expire, and this could result in failed updates. That’s why we are looking into the new "input-push-token" behavior in iOS 18. Do you have any recommendations on how to manage or prevent token expiration? Is there any official guidance on the lifespan of the Live Activity push tokens? Will FCM support the delivery of start/update/end Live Activity actions even when the app is completely terminated? We would highly appreciate any official clarification or roadmap regarding this. It would help us determine whether we should wait for FCM support or switch to sending notifications directly via APNs. Thank you for your help!

Issue with calculating the distance between two points on a map
I have an error issue that I haven’t been able to solve despite doing extensive research. In fact the similar examples I have found so far have been educational but I have not been able to make work. The example below I am hoping will be easy to fix as it is only producing errors with one line of code… import SwiftUI import CoreLocation var currentLon = Double() var currentLat = Double() extension CLLocation { class func distance(from: CLLocationCoordinate2D, to: CLLocationCoordinate2D) -> CLLocationDistance { let from = CLLocation(latitude: from.latitude, longitude: from.longitude) let to = CLLocation(latitude: to.latitude, longitude: to.longitude) return from.distance(from: to) } func locationManager(_ manager: CLLocationManager, didUpdateLocations locations: [CLLocation]) { currentLon = (locations.last?.coordinate.longitude)! currentLat = (locations.last?.coordinate.latitude)! }/*⚠️ Not sure if this function will work? (Update User Location coordinates on the move?)*/ } struct Positions: Identifiable { let id = UUID() let name: String let latitude: Double let longitude: Double var coordinate: CLLocationCoordinate2D { CLLocationCoordinate2D(latitude: latitude, longitude: longitude) } } struct GameMapView: View { let from = CLLocationCoordinate2D(latitude: currentLon, longitude: currentLat) let to = CLLocationCoordinate2D(latitude: thisCardPositionLongitude, longitude: thisCardPositionLongitude) let distanceFrom = from.distance(from: to) /*⚠️ ERRORS: 1. Cannot use instance member 'from' within property initializer; property initializers run before 'self' is available. 2. Cannot use instance member 'to' within property initializer; property initializers run before 'self' is available. 3. Value of type 'CLLocationCoordinate2D' has no member 'distance'. */ @State private var region = MKCoordinateRegion( center: CLLocationCoordinate2D( latitude: thisCardPositionLatitude, longitude: thisCardPositionLongitude), span: MKCoordinateSpan( latitudeDelta: 0.0001, longitudeDelta: 0.0001) ) var body: some View { Map(coordinateRegion: $region, showsUserLocation: true, annotationItems: locations){ place in MapMarker(coordinate: place.coordinate,tint: Color.accentColor) } .edgesIgnoringSafeArea(.all) VStack { Print("Distance from Location: \(distanceFrom)") font(.largeTitle) padding() }

Waiting for HID Entitlements for MONTHS
Hi Apple support, We requested the 4 HID-related Entitlements back in December 2024. Similarly to another post here in the forums that was completely ignored, our request has NOT been processed for months. Mailing the support staff results in boilerplate email responses with no content, calling them results in a chat with very nice people who are unable to help since they can't seem to reach the entitlement team directly. Having to wait for MONTHS when dealing with one of the biggest and supposedly best companies in the world is beyond disappointing. Can anyone help? Is there anyone else that has had this same issue and that has found a work-around? I can share all necessary details. Thanks, Matteo

Going through the logs, on both devices we see this same flow: default 2025-04-10 15:05:26.853674 +0300 WidgetRenderer_Default Evaluating dispatch of UIEvent: 0x300e002a0; type: 0; subtype: 0; backing type: 11; So it turns out that the intent fails(?) to execute on both OSes but iOS18.0 triggers a reload even so, which fits our purposes. What could the issue be? The intent is pretty standard, it contains only the title, localizedDescription and is defined only inside the widget.

Thank you!

Crash on UIApplicationInvalidInterfaceOrientation when [SKStoreProductViewController shouldAutorotate] is returning YES
I get crash reports which I can't reproduce when trying to present an SKStoreProductViewController : Fatal Exception: UIApplicationInvalidInterfaceOrientation Supported orientations has no common orientation with the application, and [SKStoreProductViewController shouldAutorotate] is returning YES No matter what app Deployment info orientation I try I can't get my SKStoreProductViewController shouldAutorotate property to return YES. It is always false. Does anyone knows why or how to get an SKStoreProductViewController to return shouldAutorotate YES?

get display name and vendor info by IOKit framework
Hello, What is the best and Apple recommended way to get display name and its vendor information? The CoreGraphics framework provides ModelNumber and VendorNumber only. Looks like IOKit does not provide any documented way at all. Are there any daemon safe way to get such information? Thank you in advance, Pavel

I have an error issue that I haven’t been able to solve despite doing extensive research. In fact the similar examples I have found so far have been educational but I have not been able to make work. The example below I am hoping will be easy to fix as it is only producing errors with one line of code… import SwiftUI import CoreLocation var currentLon = Double() var currentLat = Double() extension CLLocation { class func distance(from: CLLocationCoordinate2D, to: CLLocationCoordinate2D) -> CLLocationDistance { let from = CLLocation(latitude: from.latitude, longitude: from.longitude) let to = CLLocation(latitude: to.latitude, longitude: to.longitude) return from.distance(from: to) } func locationManager(_ manager: CLLocationManager, didUpdateLocations locations: [CLLocation]) { currentLon = (locations.last?.coordinate.longitude)! currentLat = (locations.last?.coordinate.latitude)! }/*⚠️ Not sure if this function will work? (Update User Location coordinates on the move?)*/ } struct Positions: Identifiable { let id = UUID() let name: String let latitude: Double let longitude: Double var coordinate: CLLocationCoordinate2D { CLLocationCoordinate2D(latitude: latitude, longitude: longitude) } } struct GameMapView: View { let from = CLLocationCoordinate2D(latitude: currentLon, longitude: currentLat) let to = CLLocationCoordinate2D(latitude: thisCardPositionLongitude, longitude: thisCardPositionLongitude) let distanceFrom = from.distance(from: to) /*⚠️ ERRORS: 1. Cannot use instance member 'from' within property initializer; property initializers run before 'self' is available. 2. Cannot use instance member 'to' within property initializer; property initializers run before 'self' is available. 3. Value of type 'CLLocationCoordinate2D' has no member 'distance'. */ @State private var region = MKCoordinateRegion( center: CLLocationCoordinate2D( latitude: thisCardPositionLatitude, longitude: thisCardPositionLongitude), span: MKCoordinateSpan( latitudeDelta: 0.0001, longitudeDelta: 0.0001) ) var body: some View { Map(coordinateRegion: $region, showsUserLocation: true, annotationItems: locations){ place in MapMarker(coordinate: place.coordinate,tint: Color.accentColor) } .edgesIgnoringSafeArea(.all) VStack { Print("Distance from Location: \(distanceFrom)") font(.largeTitle) padding() }
