StoreKit2 - Maintain property of purchased products
Hi everybody! I'm desperately looking for help as I'm stuck with a rather fundamental problem regarding StoreKit2 - and maybe Swift Concurrency in general: While renovating several freemium apps I'd like to move from local receipt validation with Receigen / OpenSSL to StoreKit2. These apps are using a dedicated "StoreManager" class which is encapsulating all App Store related operations like fetching products, performing purchases and listening on updates. For this purpose the StoreManager holds an array property with IDs of all purchased products, which is checked when a user invokes a premium function. This array can have various states during the app's life cycle: Immediately after app launch (before the receipt / entitlements are checked) the array is empty After checking the receipt the array holds all (locally registered) purchases Later on it might change if an "Ask to Buy" purchase was approved or a purchase was performed It is important that the array is instantly used in other (Objective-C) classes to reflect the "point in time" state of purchased products - basically acting like a cache: No async calls, completion handler, notification observer etc. When moving to StoreKit2 the same logic applies, but the relevant API calls are (of course) in asynchronous functions: Transaction.updates triggers Transaction.currentEntitlements, which needs to update the array property. But Xcode 16 is raising a strict error because of potential data races when accessing the instance variable from an asynchronous function / actor. What is the way to propagate IDs of purchased products app-wide without requiring every calling function as asynchronous? I'm sure I'm missing a general point with Swift Concurrency: Every example I found was working with call-backs / await, and although this talk of WWDC 2021 is addressing "protecting mutable states" I couldn't apply its outcomes to my problem. What am I missing?

CoreData + CloudKit
I am having problems when I first loads the app. The time it takes for the Items to be sync from my CloudKit to my local CoreData is too long. I made a Few tests loading the data when the app is downloaded for the first time. So as we can see here, all the solutions that I found are bad. I just wanna go to my CloudKit and fetch the data with my CoreData. And if possible to NOT fetch all the data because that would be not possible (imagine the future with 10 or 20GB or data) What is the solution for this loading problem? What do I need to do/fix in order to load lets say 10 items first, then later on the other items and let the user have a seamlessly experience? Questions What are the solutions I have when the user first loads the app? How to force CoreData to query directly cloudKit? Does CoreData + CloudKit + NSPersistentCloudKitContainer will download the whole CloudKit database in my local, is that good???? Storing images as BinaryData with Allow external Storage does not seems to be working well, because it is downloading the image even without the need for the image right now, how should I store the Binary data or Images in this case?

CXProvider.reportNewIncomingVoIPPushPayload resulting in NSXPCConnectionInterrupted
We have just been granted access to the com.apple.developer.usernotifications.filtering entitlement, and are following the documented steps for handled E2EE VOIP notifications listed here: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/callkit/sending-end-to-end-encrypted-voip-calls 1 - A user initiates a VoIP call on their app. Their app then sends an encrypted VoIP call request to your server. We do exactly this, Alice calls Bob from her app, sending a notification to our servers. 2 - Your server sends the encrypted data to the receiver’s device using a regular remote notification. Be sure to set the apns-push-type header field to alert. We do exactly this, our server send on a notification to APNS with the apns-push-type header set to alert, destined for Bob. 3 - On the receiver’s device, the notification service extension processes the incoming notification and decrypts it. If it’s an incoming VoIP call, the extension calls reportNewIncomingVoIPPushPayload(_:completion:) to initiate the call. It then silences the push notification (see com.apple.developer.usernotifications.filtering). I try to do exactly this. The notification is received by the NSE on Bob's device, which decrypts it and then notices it is a VOIP call from Alice. It prepares a dictionaryPayload with the decrypted data and then calls reportNewIncomingVoIPPushPayload(_:) async throws. This throws an NSXPCConnectionInterrupted error, which when logged shows as below: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=4097 "connection to service named com.apple.callkit.notificationserviceextension.voip" UserInfo={NSDebugDescription=connection to service named com.apple.callkit.notificationserviceextension.voip} The only difference I can see to the documentation is that I am working in an asynchronous context so am using the asynchronous version of the method, but I don't imagine this should cause an issue? I then supress the notification as documented and this works correctly. Does anyone have any ideas why I am getting this error when calling reportNewIncomingVoIPPushPayload(_:) async throws?

Handling BLE Permissions for CBCentralManager and AccessorySetupKit to Support iOS 18 and Earlier Versions
I have an iOS app where I perform BLE scans using the scanForPeripherals() method in CBCentralManager, which requires the NSBluetoothAlwaysUsageDescription permission. Recently, I added BLE accessory scanning using AccessorySetupKit, which requires the NSAccessorySetupKitSupports permission. This is to support the app on devices running iOS 18 (where AccessorySetupKit is available) as well as on earlier iOS versions (where this framework is not available). However, I am facing an issue where including both permissions in the app causes NSAccessorySetupKitSupports to override the NSBluetoothAlwaysUsageDescription permission. As a result, the scanForPeripherals() method in CBCentralManager no longer works on older versions. Is it possible to use both scanning methods in the same app while ensuring the required permissions coexist? If so, how can this be achieved?

PushKit Voip notifications not triggering CallKit UI in the background
I am trying to add voip call functionality to my app. It works as expected while the app is in the foreground. But in the background it does not. I have registered the app as requiring background voip permissions. How to let iCloud sync across the devices without launching the app at midnight?
Hi, I have designed an app which needs to reschedule notifications according to the user's calendar at midnight. The function has been implemented successfully via backgroundtask. But since the app has enabled iCloud sync, some users will edit their calendar on their iPad and expect that the notifications will be sent promptly to them on iPhone without launching the app on their iPhone. But the problem is that if they haven't launched the app on their iPhone, iCloud sync won't happen. The notifications on their iPhone haven't been updated and will be sent wrongly. How can I design some codes to let iCloud sync across the devices without launching the app at midnight and then reschedule notifications?

CKShare Fails with quotaExceeded Error on Family iCloud Plan
Hello, When attempting to create a CKShare on a personal device linked to a Family iCloud plan (non-primary account holder), the operation fails with a quotaExceeded error. This occurs with the Family plan having 1.5TB available storage space. This is also causing a data loss for the object(s) that were attempted to be shared. Details Account Type: Family iCloud Plan (2TB total storage) Current Family Usage: 399GB iCloud Account Usage: 70 GB Steps to Reproduce: Have an iCloud account with storage over the 5GB free space limit. Be on a part of a iCloud Family Plan as the non-primary account holder. Have storage space available in the Family Plan Attempt to start a CloudKit Share/Collaboration on the device. Observe that the CKShare creation fails with a quotaExceeded error. Expected Behavior: The CKShare should be successfully created, reflecting the total available storage of the Family plan. Observed Behavior: The CKShare fails to be created with quotaExceeded. Additional Testing On a test device using an iCloud account with no stored data, the CKShare was created successfully and shared without issue. Suspected Cause The CKShare functionality is verifying the personal storage allocation of the iCloud account and failing without checking total available storage provided by the Family plan.

CallKit Keeps Terminating
Hello, I am currently developing a call service using CallKit and VoIP push. Recently, I have encountered a very challenging issue. During testing, when a VoIP push is received, the incomingCall gets triggered continuously, but then it automatically terminates after about 1-2 seconds. I am checking this issue under the debug scheme, and even when switching to different commits, the same problem persists. I suspect it might be an issue with the device, but I would like to confirm the cause and find a solution. Below are some characteristics I have noticed: On this device, when a VoIP push is received, CallKit automatically terminates, but this does not occur when debugging. The issue always occurs when not debugging. Looking at the device console logs related to callservicesd, there are many logs with 'invalidate' appended. For example: Invalidating process assertion for bundle ID from timeout All calls ended. Clearing system uplink muted cache Invalidate callDurationUpdateTimer InCallService has changed process state to 2 InCallService has been suspended; invalidating its XPC client connections. [0x565544180] invalidated because the current process cancelled the connection by calling xpc_connection_cancel() XPC connection invalidated from client These logs appear although our server did not receive any incoming call request, so we did not terminate it on our end. I also checked if there was a crash, but there were no reports left on the device. Could you please share any insights into the cause or solutions for this situation? Thank you.

TN3138: Handling App Store receipt signing certificate change
Hi (from France) I have a MacOS application which handles the App Store receipt by requesting at the url "https://buy.itunes.apple.com/verifyReceipt". From the response, I can know what are the inApps bought by the user and that suits for me. I don't know if if I must change something in my code accordingly to this TN3118. Does someone knows the response ? Best regards.

Intermittent SSL issue
Hi Team, We are getting below error when we try to connect our REST APIs from our device. Our application is enterprise application and its connecting all backend calls via MobileIron Secure Tunnel(VPN). We are not encountering this error when we try to connect backend system from Simulator on VPN connected machine. We are calling 13 APIs but we are getting below error intermittently for different APIs i.e each time we are facing this issue for different APIs. We connected with our Helpdesk team to troubleshoot the error and they checked the MobileIron VPN firewall and there is no log We configured below things Allow Arbitrary Loads - True <key>NSExceptionMinimumTLSVersion</key> <string>TLSv1.2</string> We are using Alamofire library to connect backend. We disabled all site validation and we configured minTLSVersion 1.2. Local Network privacy blocking my app when it shouldn't
I have read the other most relevant posts on this topic here and here. However, the situations described in these posts are different. My app is just a regular Mach-O bundle with a single executable that is launched by the user from the Finder. I've read the Local Network Privacy FAQ and TN3179 carefully and these also doesn't cover the problem described below, which is being reported to me by several of my users. The problem is that some days after giving Local Network permission to my app, without having changed anything, local network connections will spontaneously start failing with EHOSTUNREACH, indicating that it is being blocked by macOS. This typically happens after a Mac reboot. Toggling off/on the Local Network permission for my app will get it working again, until the next time it fails. My users who are reporting this have stated that they are running macOS Sonoma 15.2, with only a single version/copy of my app installed. I've tried, and failed, to reproduce this in a VM with a clean 15.2 system, but maybe this is due to the relatively short duration of my testing (days rather than weeks). I know there isn't much to go on here, and it may be tempting to put this down to misreporting. After all, the vast majority of my users aren't reporting this, and I can't reproduce it. But, I have received enough similar reports at this point that it's starting to feel like a macOS bug. Is anyone else seeing this? If there is anything that anyone can suggest - either modifications in my app, or anything that my users can do on their side - this would be very much appreciated! Many thanks, Ben

Multiple 00:00:40 MAC addresses appearing on Macs
Hi all, I'm struggling to identify the cause of a really strange issue that has started to plague our network of Mac devices. We use Cisco switches and have port security turned on which means any device that registers more than one MAC address triggers a port violation which then shuts down the port for a short period of time (5 mins I believe). A few months ago we suddenly started get lots of violations from Mac devices the were all registering additional MAC addresses (2 usually) that all had the same 6 character prefix (00:00:40). So far we've not been able to determine the cause and now getting pretty desperate and exploring all possible avenues. All we know id that prefix is registered to a company called Applicon from back in the day but is now shut down. Has anyone come across this issue or know of any possible reason why this may be happening? Thanks

Blocking Network Requests per iOS App
What I want to do? I want to completely block network traffic for installed iOS apps. Hence, I need to filter network traffic based on the app, which executes this network request. Note that my app is created for personal use and learning purposes. How is this possible on iOS. Could you kindly point me into the right direction? What I don't want to do? Block network requests just by using the given domain names or using local VPNs. What I did? App Suddenly Not Working on iOS 18
Hello - I have an older app on the store, iAchieved, that suddenly stopped working properly on iOS 18. You can see it on the store, here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/iachieved/id1069338478 It still opens runs, and I can try to enter a new item, but something is wrong with the date, so that the "Done" button does not appear. And since it does not, I cannot tap it and create the item. I'm not a developer, I don't code, I only designed the app and had someone build it for me. But, if you can put it in layman's terms, any idea what's causing this? Thanks so much for any insight you can provide, -- David

Wifi SSID Detection
I have a single ssid that I would like to connect users to, which I can do easily with the NetworkExtension api. The only additional feature I want to add is being able to detect the availability of the ssid before connecting to it. I have checked the forums and looked through things like the Hotspot Helper Docs. From what I can tell, this just isn't possible. So, two questions I have: Is this definitely impossible? Any recommended alternatives for simulating this type of behavior? Thanks!

Enabling content filter on macOS through MDM
Hi, I'm adding a Content Filtering (FilterDataProvider) on macOS to an existing app and using MDM to avoid user interaction. I start by pushing the following payloads to my machine: com.apple.system-extension-policy com.apple.webcontent-filter And then installing notarized pkg containing my app and the NE. Inspecting the system logs shows the following error: neagent Failed to find a com.apple.networkextension.filter-data extension inside of app com.company_name.app_name.daemon And calling submit(request: .activationRequest(forExtensionWithIdentifier: bundleId, queue: queue)) results in: Missing entitlement com.apple.developer.system-extension.install Installing from Xcode on a SIP disabled machine works fine and both NE and CF are working as expected. I followed the steps mentioned here https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/737894 however the embedded entitlements already contained -systemextension suffix so I'm not sure if re signing and the subsequent steps are needed. I also double checked that com.apple.developer.system-extension.install is present, certificates are not expired and that get-task-allow is not present in the embedded profile. ModelActors not persisting relationships in iOS 18 beta
I've already submitted this as a bug report to Apple, but I am posting here so others can save themselves some troubleshooting. This is submitted as FB14337982 with an attached complete Xcode project to replicate. In iOS 17 we use a ModelActor to download data which is saved as an Event, and then save it to SwiftData with a relationship to a Location. In iOS 18 22A5307d we are seeing that this code no longer persists the relationship to the Location, but still saves the Event. If we put a breakpoint in that ModelActor we see that the object graph is correct within the ModelActor stack trace at the time we call modelContext.save(). However, after saving, the relationship is missing from the default.store SQLite file, and of course from the app UI. Here is a toy example showing how inserting an Employee into a Company using a ModelActor gives unexpected results in iOS 18 22A5307d but works as expected in iOS 17. It appears that no relationships data survives being saved in a ModelActor.ModelContext. Also note there seems to be a return of the old bug that saving this data in the ModelActor does not update the @Query in the UI in iOS 18 but does so in iOS 17.
