Background Download Not Working in release builds- flutter_downloader

Has anyone faced a similar issue when using flutter_downloader on iOS 13+ with BGTaskScheduler or URLSession background configuration? How to get the full process name like Activity Monitor
I'm try to monitor all processes by ES client. But I found the process name is different from the Activity Monitor displayed. As shown in the picture below, there are ShareSheetUI(Pages) and ShareSheetUI(Finder) processes in Activity Monitor, but I can only get the same name ShareSheetUI, I thought of many ways to display the name in parentheses, but nothing worked, so there is a way to display the process name like Activity Monitor?

Need to start the Mac application automatically
I am developing the application in Mac. My requirement is to start the application automatically when user login. I have tried adding the plist file in launch agents, But it doesn't achieve my requirement. When using SMAppService to register a daemon, is it possible to let the authorization dialog show on behalf of my application? e.g.: showing the app name, custom icon and prompt, etc..
My app is for personal use currently, so distribution won't be a problem. It registers a privileged helper using SMAppService, and I was wondering whether there is a way to customize the authorization dialog that the system presents to the user.

Will an app that monitors system processes (using psutil) be approved for notarization?
Hi everyone, I’m Jaswanth. My friends and I are students working on a project where we’ve developed a website and a companion app. Here’s the key functionality: When two users enter a virtual room, one of them is prompted to download a desktop app. The app is built with Python and uses psutil to check for certain running processes. It does not send any data over the internet. It has a GUI that clearly shows the system is being monitored , it’s not hidden or running in the background silently. We want to sign and notarize the app to make sure it runs on macOS without warning users. However, we’re concerned that since the app accesses system process information, it might be flagged as malicious. Before we pay for the Apple Developer Program, we wanted to ask: Will an app like this (which only reads running processes and does not exfiltrate or hide activity) be eligible for notarization? XPC between main app and system extension
Hello, I'm developing a Mac application that uses a network extension. I'm trying to implement XPC to pass data between my main app and system extension and I'm using the SimpleFirewall demo app as a guide to do this. One thing I can't understand is how the ViewController in the SimpleFirewall main app has access to the class IPCConnection in the SimpleFirewallExtension without it being public and without SimpleFirewallExtension being imported in ViewController.

Schedule BGAppRefreshTask more often for debugging purposes
I am considering to use the BGAppRefreshTask mechanism, and while I think I have read and understood all documentation and hints in this forum about it (especially the limitations), the one thing I do not understand is: how can I debug it? I cannot find a way to trigger the BGAppRefreshTask execution reliably and immediately. I would have expected the Xcode Debug->Simulate Background Fetch menu to do this for me, but it only sends the app into the background. I am working with the unmodified (except for a few added print()) ColorFeed sample code project from Apple, which schedules a task 15min into the future when it goes to the background. Using a real device, I have not managed to trigger execution of the BGAppRefreshTask more often than once a day so far. Surely, there must be a way to trigger it much more often solely for debugging and development purposes (I am totally happy with all restrictions for the final app). So what detail am I missing here?

iOS BGProcessingTask + Background Upload Not Executing Reliably on TestFlight (Works in Debug) Description: We are facing an issue with BGTaskScheduler and BGProcessingTask when trying to perform a background audio-upload flow on iOS. The behavior is inconsistent between Debug builds and TestFlight (Release) builds. Summary of the Problem Our application records long audio files (up to 1 hour) and triggers a background upload using: BGTaskScheduler BGProcessingTaskRequest Background URLSession (background with identifier) URLSession background upload task + AppDelegate.handleEventsForBackgroundURLSession In Debug mode (Xcode → Run on device), everything works as expected: BGProcessingTask executes handleEventsForBackgroundURLSession fires Background URLSession continues uploads reliably Long audio files successfully upload even when the app is in background or terminated However, in TestFlight / Release mode, the system does not reliably launch the BGProcessingTask or Background URLSession events. Technical Details We explicitly register BGTaskScheduler: BGTaskScheduler.shared.register( forTaskWithIdentifier: "example.background.process", using: nil ) { task in self.handleBackgroundProcessing(task: task as! No logs appear from our BGProcessingTask handler. system logs show messages like: NO LONGER RUNNING bgProcessing-example.background.process Tasks running in group [com.apple.dasd.defaultNetwork] are 1! This occurs most frequently for large audio uploads (30–60 minutes), while small files behave normally. What We Have Verified Proper Info.plist values: Permitted background modes: processing, audio, fetch BGTaskSchedulerPermittedIdentifiers contains our identifier BGProcessingTask is being submitted successfully (no errors) App has microphone permission + background audio works Device plugged/unplugged doesn’t change outcome Key Question for Apple We need clarification on: Why BGProcessingTask behave differently between Debug and TestFlight builds? Are there additional restrictions or heuristics (related to file size, CPU usage, runtime, network load, or power constraints) that cause BGProcessingTask to be throttled or skipped in Release/TestFlight? How can we guarantee a background upload continues reliably for large files (100MB–500MB) on TestFlight and App Store builds? Is there an Apple-recommended pattern to combine BGProcessingTask + Background URLSession for long-running uploads? Expected Result Background uploads should continue reliably for long audio files (>30 minutes) when the app goes to background or is terminated, in the same way they currently function in Debug builds.

How to Get Client Process Owner in an XPC Server

Specifically, I'd like to retrieve details such as the fully qualified user name or other identifying information from the XPC client connection.I'm considering using xpc_connection_get_pid() to get the client’s process ID, but I’m unsure of the best way to map this to the user who owns the process. What is ImmersiveSpaceAppModel in BOT-anist?
I would like to implement an expression that pops out from the window to Immersive based on the following WWDC video. This video introduces the new features of visionOS 2.0 in the form of refurbishing Apple's sample app BOT-anist. https://developer.apple.com/jp/videos/play/wwdc2024/10153/?time=1252 In the video, it looks like ImmersiveSpaceAppModel is newly implemented. However, the key code is not mentioned anywhere. You pass appModel.robot as the from argument to the transform method of RealityViewContent. LLDB Cannot Load ODBC Driver Due to Sandbox Restrictions - How to Debug

The application works fine when run normally, but fails to load the ODBC driver when debugging with LLDB(under root works fine as well). ExtensionKit & ExtensionFoundation process lifecycle
An XPC service’s process has a system-managed lifecycle: the process is launched on-demand when another process tries to connect to it, and the system can decide to kill it when system resources are low. XPC services can tell the system when they shouldn’t be killed using xpc_transaction_begin/end. Do extensions created with ExtensionFoundation and/or ExtensionKit have the same behavior?

XPC Error: Underlying connection interrupted
Im using the low-level C xpc api <xpc/xpc.h> and i get this error when I run it: Underlying connection interrupted. I know this error stems from the call to xpc_session_send_message_with_reply_sync(session, message, &reply_err);. Are iPad apps that are closed with the red traffic light prevented from running background tasks?
In iOS Background Execution limits, I see this: When the user ‘force quits’ an app by swiping up in the multitasking UI, iOS interprets that to mean that the user doesn’t want the app running at all. iOS also sets a flag that prevents the app from being launched in the background. That flag gets cleared when the user next launches the app manually. However, I see that when I close an app on iPadOS 26 with the red X, the app doesn't appear in the multitasking UI. So are they treated as force closes and prevented from running background tasks?

Running external binaries from Swift Package (TTS engine): Operation not permitted from Xcode app
Hi everyone, We’re developing a macOS SwiftUI app that uses a local Swift Package (CasSherpaCore) to invoke an external compiled binary (sherpa-onnx-offline-tts) for text-to-speech synthesis using system calls. The package works flawlessly when tested from terminal or via a lightweight test C program. However, when we invoke it from a SwiftUI app (even with Full Disk Access granted to Xcode and Terminal), we consistently get the error: sh: /Users/xxxxxxxxxxx/SherpaONNX/sherpa-onnx/build/bin/sherpa-onnx-offline-tts: Operation not permitted We’ve tried: Granting Full Disk Access to Xcode and Terminal. Removing the quarantine flag with xattr -d com.apple.quarantine. Setting executable permission via chmod +x. Using both system() and Process in C and Swift contexts. Testing within a Swift Package that’s integrated into the app as a local dependency. Running the command manually from terminal (works perfectly). It appears that macOS (or Xcode’s runtime sandbox) is restricting execution of binaries from certain locations or contexts when launched via system() inside the app. Questions: Is there a specific entitlement or configuration that allows execution of local binaries from a SwiftUI macOS app? Is this related to System Integrity Protection (SIP) or a hardened runtime limitation? Are there best practices or alternative approaches to safely execute local TTS binaries from within a Swift app? Any help would be deeply appreciated. This is a core feature in our project and we’re stuck at this point. Thank you so much in advance!

Expected behavior from apps when MacOS goes to sleep
Every time macOS goes to sleep the processes get suspended which is expected. But during the sleep period, all processes keep coming back and they all get a small execution window where they make some n/w requests. Regardless of what power settings i have. It also does not matter whether my app is a daemon or not Is there any way that i can disable this so that when system is in sleep, it stays in suspended, no intermittent execution window? I have tried disabling Wake for network access setting but processes still keep getting intermittent execution window. Is there any way that i can prevent my app from coming back while in sleep. I don't want my app to get execution window, perform some executions and then get suspended not knowing when it will get execution window again?

I specifically want to find all data for Spotlight items in the /Applications folder that have a kMDItemAppStoreAdamID (if there is a better predicate than kMDItemAppStoreAdamID > 0, please let me know). The following should be the correct query: let query = NSMetadataQuery() query.predicate = NSPredicate(format: "kMDItemAppStoreAdamID > 0") query.searchScopes = ["/Applications"] I would like to do this for code that can run on macOS 10.13+, which precludes using Swift Concurrency. My project already uses the latest PromiseKit, so I assume that the solution should use that. A bonus solution using Swift Concurrency wouldn't hurt as I will probably switch over sometime in the future, but won't be able to switch soon. I have written code that can retrieve the Spotlight data as the [String], but I don't know how to return it synchronously from a function; whatever I tried, the query hangs, presumably because I've called various run loop functions at the wrong places. In case it matters, the app is a macOS command-line app using Swift 5.7 & Swift Argument Parser 1.5.0. The Spotlight data will be output only as text to stdout & stderr, not to any Apple UI elements.
