Notification Sound Not Routing to Bluetooth / External Speakers Consistently
Hello Apple Developer Support, We are observing inconsistent behavior with push notification sounds routing to Bluetooth / external speakers. Our app sends push notifications with a custom sound file using the sound parameter in the APNs payload. When an iPhone is connected to a Bluetooth speaker or headphones: On some devices, the notification sound plays through the connected Bluetooth/external speaker. On other devices, the notification sound plays only through the iPhone’s built-in speaker. We also tested with native apps like iMessage and noticed similar behavior — in some cases, notification sounds still play through the phone speaker even when Bluetooth is connected. Media playback (e.g., YouTube or Music) routes correctly to Bluetooth, so the connection itself is functioning properly. We would like clarification on the following: Is this routing behavior expected for push notification sounds? Are notification sounds intentionally restricted from routing to Bluetooth in certain conditions (e.g., device locked, system policy, audio session state)? Is there any supported way to ensure notification sounds consistently route through connected Bluetooth/external speakers? The inconsistent behavior across devices makes it difficult to determine whether this is by design or a configuration issue. Thank you for your guidance.

How can you tick between live activities?
I have been watching the following moment from wwdc (Design dynamic Live Activities): https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2023/10194/?time=728 It suggest that you should 'tick' between multiple live activities of your app: When you want to show multiple sessions for your app going on at once, consider ticking between the display of them to continue to give users an eye on everything that’s going on. How can I tick between them? More specifically how can I do that when my app is in the background?

iOS 26 Notification Extension open(uri) Fails on Cold Start (LSApplicationWorkspaceErrorDomain Code=115)
I'm experiencing a critical regression on iOS 26 with a Notification Content Extension. extensionContext.open(uri) fails to open external URLs with LSApplicationWorkspaceErrorDomain Code=115 under specific conditions. Problem: When the main app is killed, and a rich push notification is received and expanded, tapping a button (specifically one with a transparent background, cornerRadius=0, clipsToBounds=false) fails to open its associated URL. Key Details: iOS 26 Only: Works perfectly on iOS 17, 18, etc. App Killed State Only: Works if the app is running (foreground/background). Works on Subsequent Notifications: The link will open if a second notification is received. LSApplicationQueriesSchemes: Confirmed to be correctly configured in the main app's Info.plist and present in the app bundle. Delay No Help: Adding a 1s delay before open(uri) does not fix it. My os_log statements confirm the button tap

How can notification action buttons' text be center aligned?
The iOS documentation shows notification actions buttons with the text center aligned: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/usernotifications/declaring-your-actionable-notification-types But there's no apparent way for an app to control this. The buttons are controlled and rendered by the system and the text is always left aligned. Is there some way to get the text center aligned?

CarPlay notifications unsupported for Driving Task apps in iOS 18.6
I have my app configured as a Driving Task app with the entitlement and provisioning profile correctly set up. I am also requesting the ".carPlay" notification authorization option and setting up the carplay notification category with the ".allowInCarPlay" category, both without error. When testing with the iPhone and carplay simulators the user notifications I send are appearing on the phone but not in carplay. When I check the notification settings with UNUserNotificationCenter.current().getNotificationSettings() I see that carplay is shown to be not supported ("carPlaySetting: NotSupported"). The CarPlay Developer Guide 2025-06-09 (which is the version currently referenced in the Apple docs) states that "Starting in iOS 18.4, notifications are also supported in CarPlay driving task apps". Has this discrepancy been addressed anywhere, or is this an open issue? My software versions: MacOS: Sequoia 15.6 XCode: 16.4 iPhone Simulator: iPhone 16 with iOS 18.6

Silent Push notifications XCode 16.3 stop working on production
Hello, we have recently started signing and building our applications using Xcode 16.3. Since we made this change, we’ve noticed that the applications have stopped receiving silent push notifications (content-available: 1) when they are distributed via TestFlight or the App Store, even though we haven’t changed anything in the way these notifications are sent. As I mentioned, this started happening after migrating our project from Xcode 15 to Xcode 16.3. Regular push notifications are still working as expected, but silent ones are not being received by the apps. We are desperate because we rely on these silent notifications to inform the apps of updates, and we haven’t been able to identify the root cause of the issue.

Push payload is not present on notification tap
I am checking if the user taps on the firebase push notification and get the payload. override func userNotificationCenter(_ center: UNUserNotificationCenter, didReceive response: UNNotificationResponse, withCompletionHandler completionHandler: @escaping () -> Void) { let userInfo = response.notification.request.content.userInfo os_log("notification tapped %{public}@", log: OSLog.push, type: .info, userInfo) handleNotificationPayload(userInfo as! [String: AnyObject]) setFlutterLinkClickedVariable() } My use case is in app terminated state when push notification is tapped, get the link from payload and navigate to corresponding screen based on the link. This is working when there is only one push notification. When there are multiple push notifications with different links in the payload, only the first notification I tap works. Rest of the notifications just launches the app and does not navigate because the link is not set. I am getting the link from the payload and invoking flutter code which sets the link in the user defaults (shared preferences) and when the app launches in the home screen it checks for this variable and navigates accordingly. func handleNotificationPayload(_ payload: [String: AnyObject]) { if let link = payload["link"] as? String { setFlutterLinkVariable(link) } } override func application(_ application: UIApplication, didReceiveRemoteNotification userInfo: [AnyHashable : Any], fetchCompletionHandler completionHandler: @escaping (UIBackgroundFetchResult) -> Void) { os_log("app did receive remote notification %{public}@", log: OSLog.push, type: .info, userInfo) handleNotificationPayload(userInfo as! [String : AnyObject]) completionHandler(.newData) } Currently when there is only one push notification it works because the link is set from the above method. The click delegate is not calling. I did set the delegate in application(:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions). UNUserNotificationCenter.current().delegate = self application.registerForRemoteNotifications() How to solve this issue? Thanks.

Push Notification Delivery Delays and Failures on iOS Devices
I am experiencing an issue with push notifications on my iOS application. The issue is as follows: On Android devices, push notifications are received immediately without any problems. On iOS devices, the behavior is inconsistent: When the app is in the foreground, notifications are received immediately. When the app is in the background or in recent apps with a significant delay of 5–10 hours, push notifications are not received at all. This behavior creates a major challenge for us, as timely notifications are critical for our app’s functionality. We have already verified the following points on our side: Push notification certificates and APNs setup are correct. Payload and server configurations are valid, as notifications are working fine on Android. No restrictions from the server-side, since Android users receive notifications instantly. It seems the issue is specifically related to iOS devices or APNs delivery. Could you please help us identify the cause and provide guidance on how to resolve this?

Push notification sent to uninstalled app
I am using push notification in my app. User token gets properly registered and is sent to server. Notification are also sent by server and recieved on device as expected. The problem occurs when user uninstalls the app. iOS does not provide any option to handle uninstall event. On top of that when server send notification to such device token APNS feedback service sends success message. Meaning APNS sends push notifications to uninstalled app.I have an API to unregister the device on server since no event is triggered I am unable to call it.Please suggest a way out.

How to Enable com.apple.developer.pushkit.unrestricted-voip Entitlement for Production App?
We are developing a walkie-talkie style iOS app using CallKit and PushKit for real-time voice communication. The app is intended for internal company use and requires unrestricted VoIP push capabilities to reliably deliver incoming call alerts, even in background or locked states. Our app's use case follows Apple’s guidelines, and we are not using PushKit for messaging or background data. We have already enabled "Push Notifications" in Capabilities and confirmed the provisioning profile, but are unable to enable com.apple.developer.pushkit.unrestricted-voip. Could someone from Apple or the community advise on the current process to request this entitlement for a production app? Critical Messaging Intermittent Success with notSupported
Hello, I am trying to utilize the Critical Messaging API to allow my user to message 1 or multiple pre registered contacts automatically. An issue I am having with this in testing is that when the application attempts to fire off texts to the phone numbers the success rate changes from trial to trial, with no variable changing. Sometimes I can send a Critical Message to multiple phone numbers in rapid succession, sometimes the message is only sent to 1 contact, and sometimes I get no successes. Each failure always returns the MSCriticalMessaging.notSupported error. The API documentation states, "The send(_:to:) method only works if the app is backgrounded, if it’s called from foreground the framework returns a MSCriticalMessagingError.notSupported error." If my app is always backgrounded in these tests, what other issues may cause this notSupported error return, and why does the outcomes success rate vary?

Regarding the change of device tokens after an iOS update
In the app we are developing, we update the device token upon app launch using didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken. Previously, after an iOS major update, if the app was left without being launched, users experienced an issue where notifications would not be received. Later, we confirmed that running didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken during app launch updates the device token and restores the ability to receive notifications. Therefore, we believe that the device token may change due to an iOS major update. We want to understand the detailed conditions under which the device token is updated due to an iOS update: Does the same issue occur after iOS minor updates as well? Does it always happen during iOS major updates? We reviewed the official documentation, but there was no detailed description of the device token update conditions. Additionally, we contacted Apple, but received no clear answers. If anyone has experienced the same situation, we would appreciate any information you can share.

push notifications are not receiving to device
iOS push notification is not working for in App since 03-Apr-2025. We are pushing the message to APNS from our application, but message is not delivered to iOS device. We have performed tests on both PROD and QA environment and following are the observations: PROD successfully pushing the notification to APNS but not receiving the notification on iOS device (100% failure). QA received notification on iOS device always (100% success). Analyzed PROD notification server log at our end and we do not observe any error and it is showing successful also when message is pushed to APNS all the time. Need to check from APNS why push messages are not delivered to iOS devices. Validated the PROD APNS certificate at our end which we are using during call to APNS - it is valid till Oct 2025. Please suggest me any possible solution because I don't have any clue where it is failing and what to do

Local-only iOS Notifications
Hello! I'm currently trying to add local push notifications to my iOS app (React Native + Expo). Most of the guides and documentation I found online revolve around remote notification capabilities and APNS - I don't need this. The app will register a background task to periodically check if it should trigger a notification, fully local. I'm running into issues when adding the push notification capabilities, saying I need a new provisioning profile and to modify the App ID, which prompts me to set up certificates to communicate with APNS - which I don't need. So I was wondering: Is it possible to build an app without the remote notification setup that can still trigger local notifications? Or is it kind of all-or-nothing, and I need to set up remote notifications as well even if I only need to trigger them locally? Couldn't really find much online about this, and before I invalidate my current certificates and go through a bunch of redundant setup, I thought I'd ask here. Help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Missing INITIAL_BUY notification for a single user (App Store Server Notification V2)
Hi all, We’re implementing in-app subscriptions in our iOS app using App Store Server Notifications V2 in the production environment. Everything is generally working well — we receive notifications such as DID_CHANGE_RENEWAL_STATUS, CANCELLATION, etc., and we log all incoming notifications into our own database. However, we've encountered a single case where the INITIAL_BUY notification was not received for a specific user. Interestingly, we did receive the later notifications (DID_CHANGE_RENEWAL_STATUS and CANCELLATION) for that same user. Here is our setup: App Store Server Notifications V2 Notification endpoint is stable and functioning normally (receives and logs other notifications) Notifications are reliably stored in our database The issue occurred only once for one user Environment: Production We've already contacted Apple Developer Support, but were informed that this issue is out of scope for direct support, and were directed to the Developer Forums. Our questions: Under what conditions might the INITIAL_BUY notification fail to be sent or delivered? Is there any known behavior or scenario where Apple may skip the INITIAL_BUY notification? Any recommendations on how to further investigate or verify whether it was sent from Apple’s side? We’ve confirmed that the notification never hit our server (no logs, no DB record), and our system was healthy at the time. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Clarification about ANCS being unavailable
Hello, I am working on a project that involves using external device to connect over BLE with users iPhone. I would like to be able to notify users on our device about eg. incoming calls, messages etc. I have been succesfull in using ANCS to achieve that but I am a little worried around consistency of this solution, especially taking into account following line from documentation: Due to the nature of iOS, the ANCS is not guaranteed to always be present. As a result, the NC should look for and subscribe to the Service Changed characteristic of the GATT service in order to monitor for the potential publishing and unpublishing of the ANCS at any time. I have not been able (yet?) to find or identify circumstances when ANCS would not be avilable or would be "removed in runtime", hence would it be possible to request some guidance and clarification on the conditions when ANCS can be unavailable or removed? Thank you!

Thank you!
