Filtering MMS Messages with Multimedia Content (Images, Videos, etc.)
Hi Apple Developer, I’m working on a message-filtering application and reviewing Apple's documentation on message filtering. The documentation clearly states that MMS messages can be filtered. (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/identitylookup/sms-and-mms-message-filtering) When we refer to MMS, it includes images, short videos, and other supported multimedia formats. However, the ILMessageFilterQueryRequest only provides the message body as a String, meaning we can access text and links but not images or other media files. Could you please confirm whether Apple allows third-party applications to access multimedia content sent from unknown numbers? Looking forward to your quick response. Thanks, Rijul Singhal

Universal Links are not working
I have an iOS app where the universal links are not working. Basically, I have double-checked the AASA file, and it's formatted correctly. It's in the right location .well-known subdirectory. I have checked other things as well. For my app, if the user has forgotten their password, they click on the Forgot Password option, which sends them an email, after which they click on a link; the link should open the iOS app, but is instead opening up the web browser. The format of the link matches the formatting in the AASA file. As well, I've checked associated domains as well. Using Postman, I can see that the AASA file is accessible. I have a feeling that the iOS app cannot fetch the AASA file, as I don't see any relevant swcd logs. My AASA file is located at: https://www.COMPANY_NAME.ca/.well-known/apple-app-site-association Please advise.

Request Array with AppIntent
Hi everyone, i'm trying to request in a AppIntent an array of strings. But I want to give the user the chance to add more than one String. Yet, I do it so: import AppIntent struct AddHomework: AppIntent { // some Parameters @Parameter(title: "Tasks") var tasks: [String]? @Parameter(title: "New Task") //Only for the special request var input: String? private func collectTasks() async throws -> [String] { var collectedTasks: [String] = tasks ?? [] while true { if !collectedTasks.isEmpty { let addMore = try await $input.requestConfirmation(for: "Möchtest du noch eine Aufgabe hinzufügen?") if !addMore { break } } let newTask = try await $input.requestValue("Please enter your task:") collectedTasks.append(newTask) } return collectedTasks } @MainActor func perform() async throws -> some IntentResult { let finalTasks = try await collectTasks() // some more code return .result() } } But this is not working. The Shortcut is ending without requesting anything. But it is not crashing. I would thankfully for some help.

Request array with AppIntents
Hi, I’m trying to get an array of strings from the user using AppIntents, but I’m encountering an issue. The shortcut ends without prompting the user for input or saving the value, though it doesn’t crash. I need to get the user to input multiple tasks in an array, but the current approach isn’t working as expected. Here’s the current method I’m using: // Short code snippet showing the current method private func collectTasks() async throws -> [String] { var collectedTasks: [String] = tasks ?? [] while true { if !collectedTasks.isEmpty { let addMore = try await $input.requestConfirmation("Would you like to add another task?") if !addMore { break } } let newTask = try await $input.requestValue("Please enter a task:") collectedTasks.append(newTask) } return collectedTasks } The Call func perform() async throws -> some IntentResult { let finalTasks = try await collectTasks() // Some more Code } Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Car play mirroring with flexy limitation and what about new Gen. of Carplay that gonna launch end of this year?
right now it looks like the app type must follow the guidelines like Messenger app, Navigate app, and Music app only. What about the Automotive app itself, What is the flexibility of it? We have an app for service cars for one brand (officially)(car users around 1m+). but we looking to merge the experience between outside the car and inside the car. Can we top up some features on the app to share some information that is a part of the car like trip calculation or car info display on the screen? or services time to notice them? And following that question can we know about the exact spot or brief from Apple car play for now and next-gen? Or can we work with your team closely as a partner? to make things happen and develop it to be a flagship product, we can share some data and talk about it with real insight.

CarKeyRemoteControlSession always returning empty
We are developing an iOS app to connect to vehicles and trigger predefined vehicle controls (door lock/unlock) via the Digital Key framework. We are currently blocked on several aspects and would appreciate your expertise to clarify the following queries. How can we list down connected vehicle information? What is the method to retrieve connection status? How can we perform vehicle control actions (e.g., door lock/unlock)? STEPS TO REPRODUCE Starting the CarKeyRemoteControlSession to Fetch Vehicle Reports Currently, we are using the following API to start a CarKeyRemoteControlSession: open class func start( delegate: any CarKeyRemoteControlSessionDelegate, subscriptionRange subscriptionFunctionIDRange: ClosedRange? = nil, with delegateCallbackQueue: DispatchQueue? = nil ) async throws -> CarKeyRemoteControlSession After successfully creating the session, we check for vehicle reports using the vehicleReports property of CarKeyRemoteControlSession: public var vehicleReports: [VehicleReport] { get throws }

Universal link not working
I’m seeking guidance on an issue with my iOS app’s universal link for email verification. The link successfully opens my app, but the verification logic never runs. Here is my setup and the problem details: Associated Domains & AASA I have Associated Domains set to applinks:talkio.me in Xcode. The AASA file is located at https://talkio.me/.well-known/apple-app-site-association with the following contents: { "applinks": { "apps": [], "details": [ { "appID": "VMCWZ2A2KQ.com.elbaba.Flake2", "paths": [ "/verify*" ] } ] } } The direct link we send in the email looks like: https://talkio.me/verify?mode=verifyEmail&oobCode=XYZ&apiKey=ABC When tapped, the app launches, but the universal link handler code below never logs the URL nor triggers the verifyEmailUsing logic. SceneDelegate Logic In my SceneDelegate.swift, I handle universal links in both scene(:willConnectTo:options:) and scene(:continue:userActivity:restorationHandler:): func scene(_ scene: UIScene, willConnectTo session: UISceneSession, options connectionOptions: UIScene.ConnectionOptions) { // ... if let urlContext = connectionOptions.urlContexts.first { let url = urlContext.url print("SceneDelegate: App launched with URL: (url.absoluteString)") handleUniversalLink(url: url) } } func scene(_ scene: UIScene, continue userActivity: NSUserActivity, restorationHandler: @escaping ([UIUserActivityRestoring]?) -> Void) -> Bool { print("⚠️ scene(_:continue:) got called!") guard let url = userActivity.webpageURL else { print("No webpageURL in userActivity.") return false } print("SceneDelegate: Universal Link => (url.absoluteString)") handleUniversalLink(url: url) return true } private func handleUniversalLink(url: URL) { let urlString = url.absoluteString if let oobCode = getQueryParam(urlString, named: "oobCode") { verifyEmailUsing(oobCode) } else { print("No oobCode found => not a verify link.") } } // ... Expected Log: SceneDelegate: App launched with URL: https://talkio.me/verify?mode=verifyEmail&oobCode=XYZ&apiKey=ABC However, I only see: SceneDelegate: sceneDidBecomeActive called No mention of the universal link is printed. Result: The app opens on tapping the link but does not call handleUniversalLink(...). Consequently, Auth.auth().checkActionCode(oobCode) and Auth.auth().applyActionCode(oobCode) are never triggered. What I Tried: Verified the AASA file is served over HTTPS, with content type application/json. Reinstalled the app to refresh iOS’s associated domain cache. Confirmed my Team ID (VMCWZ2A2KQ) and Bundle ID (com.elbaba.Flake2) match in the app’s entitlements. Confirmed the link path "/verify*" matches the link structure in emails. Despite these checks, the universal link logic is not invoked. Could you help me identify why the link is not recognized as a universal link and how to ensure iOS calls my SceneDelegate methods with the correct URL? Any guidance on diagnosing or resolving this universal link issue would be greatly appreciated.

iOS not calling my Quick Look extension for RAW files recognized by the system
I'm the developer of Camera RawX (avail on the Mac App Store). I'm working on Camera RawX for iOS to provide Quick Look support for camera RAW files not supported by iOS. I use the Files app to open a RAW file to invoke Quick Look on my iPad (it is running iOS 17.6.1). The RAW file in question is a Fuji compressed RAF file. When I tap on the RAF file, iOS opens the Quick Look window, but my app's Quick Look extension is not called. If the RAW file in question is a Sigma Foveon X3F file, a file that has no native Apple RAW support, then my Quick Look extension is called and I'm able to display the image in the Quick Look window without issue. It seems that a system recognized RAW file extension (RAF in this case), is not triggering my Quick Look extension. On the macOS, this works fine without any issue. The strange thing is that my Thumbnail extension is being called when the RAW files show up in Files. Even if it is a RAF file. So it seems like a bug to me or am I missing something crucial in my Info.plist file? Albert

Refresh Widget doesn't work from background push notification.
As stated in other posts like: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/734488 https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/652946?answerId=823555022#823555022 Even though the recommended way from Apple documentation is to use push notifications to reload widgets timelines calling WidgetCenter.shared.reloadAllTimelines(), it is unreliable and I couldn't find a pattern of why it works 10% of times and not the other 90%. While the debugger is connected to the App it always works though. My widget needs to reflect updated information otherwise it becomes useless since it display smart home devices states such as the Apple Home widget does as well.

CarPlay style API
Is there any way I can get updates when I change CarPlay style settings? I've tried CPSessionConfigurationDelegate.contentStyleChanged and CPTemplateApplicationSceneDelegate.contentStyleDidChange, but they always produce the same result. When I choose: Automatic -> I receive light in case of daylight; Always Dark and Always Show Dark Map toggle on -> dark Always Dark and Always Show Dark Map toggle off -> light. But it seems to be wrong, b/c CarPlay's toolbar is still dark, and I receive light. Is there a way to get a dark style when choosing Always Dark and Always Show Dark Map toggle off? Or at least get updates when the Always Show Dark Map toggle changes?

UE 5.4 Game Instantly Crash on iOS devices on Testflight
Hi, I'm working on a game for the past few years using first Unreal Engine 4, and now Unreal Engine 5.4.4. I'm experiencingan unusual crash on startup on some devices . The crash is so fast that I'm barely able to see the launching screen sometimes because the app closes itself before that. I got a EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT) so I know that it's a null pointer reference, but I can't quite wrap my head about the cause, I think that's something messed up in the packaging of the app, but here is where I'm blocked, I'm not that accustomed with apple devices. If someone has some advise to give, please, any help will be very valuable. Many thanks. Log : Crash Log on Ipad

When Using Callkit audio doesn't have permission to work
I am creating a voip app, I am trying to use call kit to answer calls, however audio doesn't seem to work when using callKit when looking at the systems logs I see no server connection when checking background audio state, won't allow background audio! background audio processAllowed = 0 for displayID com.apple.TelephonyUtilities no server connection when checking background audio state, won't allow background audio! background audio processAllowed = 0 for displayID {my app id} I have the plist entries for background ui modes for voip, audio, fetch and background notifications along with the backgrounds modes for Voip, Audio, AirPlay, and Picture in Picture, Background notifications. I am unsure what to do about this, like my reading of the error is I can't use audio cause I am not connected to a server, but like is it any server, Am I suppose to connect to the voip call before setting up audio, I am not sure how to do that.

Custom `DiscreteFormatStyle` in live activities
Hello, I'm trying to display some Duration in a live activity using a custom format, with the goal of displaying a match time (only minutes) as, e.g. 33', 45' (+2), etc. For that purpose, I'm using a TimeDataSource<Duration>, so that it also updates automatically given a starting point. I've implemented my custom FormatStyle, trying to somehow mimic the existing UnitsFormatStyle (which perfectly works with live activities) but just changing the format. I've added conformance to DiscreteFormatStyle, and code-wise everything seems to be ok (if I've understood things correctly). It compiles and it even works as expected in a playground. However, when trying to use it within the live activity, I'm getting these cryptic errors in the Console.app, and the live activity just turns into a view with placeholders Failed to fetch view from archive at index 12: SwiftUI.AnyCodable<SwiftUI.(unknown context at $1d47f6af0).SafelyCodableRequirement>.(unknown context at $1d47fe410).Errors.noType(mangledName: "7SwiftUI18TimeDataFormattingO10ResolvableVy_AA0cD6SourceVAAE15DurationStorageOys0H0V_GAK28BlickLiveActivitiesExtensionE16MatchFormatStyleVG") [624AEC37-13D9-4927-9F41-C3092B61E214] Failed to return view entry from archive for view model with tag listItem with error: SwiftUI.AnyCodable<SwiftUI.(unknown context at $1d47f6af0).SafelyCodableRequirement>.(unknown context at $1d47fe410).Errors.noType(mangledName: "7SwiftUI18TimeDataFormattingO10ResolvableVy_AA0cD6SourceVAAE15DurationStorageOys0H0V_GAK28BlickLiveActivitiesExtensionE16MatchFormatStyleVG") Are there any limitations when it comes to live activities and these custom formatters? This whole error doesn't make sense, since I'm only aiming to update every minute, which should just be fine, the same thing I get with the UnitsFormatStyle. For reference, this is my playground, which just works as expected: import Foundation import SwiftUI import PlaygroundSupport extension Duration { struct MatchFormatStyle: DiscreteFormatStyle, Sendable { let periodLength: Int let overtime: Int func format(_ value: Duration) -> String { let (seconds, _): (Int64, Int64) = value.components let minutes: Int = Int(seconds) / 60 let current: Int = periodLength + minutes + overtime if current > periodLength { return "\(periodLength)' (+\(current - periodLength))" } else { return "\(current)'" } } func discreteInput(before input: Duration) -> Duration? { let (seconds, _): (Int64, Int64) = input.components let minutes: Int64 = seconds / 60 - 1 return Duration(secondsComponent: minutes * 60, attosecondsComponent: .zero) } func discreteInput(after input: Duration) -> Duration? { let (seconds, _): (Int64, Int64) = input.components let minutes: Int64 = seconds / 60 + 1 return Duration(secondsComponent: minutes * 60, attosecondsComponent: .zero) } } } extension FormatStyle where Self == Duration.MatchFormatStyle { static func matchTime(currentTime: Int, periodLength: Int) -> Duration.MatchFormatStyle { return Duration.MatchFormatStyle(periodLength: periodLength, overtime: max(currentTime - periodLength, .zero)) } } extension TimeDataSource<Date> { static func matchDuration(for currentTime: Int, periodLength: Int) -> TimeDataSource<Duration> { let minutesAhead: Double = Double(max(periodLength - currentTime + 1, .zero)) return TimeDataSource<Date>.durationOffset(to: Date.now.addingTimeInterval(minutesAhead * 60)) } } struct FooView: View { let currentTime: Int = 36 let periodLength: Int = 45 var body: some View { Text( TimeDataSource<Date>.matchDuration(for: currentTime, periodLength: periodLength), format: .matchTime(currentTime: currentTime, periodLength: periodLength) ) .frame(width: 400, height: 200) .font(.system(size: 50)) } } // Present the view controller in the Live View window PlaygroundPage.current.setLiveView(FooView()) Any hints or suggestions are welcome, many thanks in advance.

Related WebDomain Token is automatically blocked, but how do we know the related ManagedSettingsStore?
I have noticed that when I select the app token of the youtube app to be blocked via a ManagedSettingsStore, the youtube website is blocked as well (which is a good and intended behavior IMO). But how do I know in the ShieldConfigurationDataSource’s override func configuration(shielding webDomain: WebDomain, in category: ActivityCategory) -> ShieldConfiguration to which ManagedSettingsStore the WebDomain’s token is related? We use different ManagedSettingsStores for different block purposes, which differentiate in their ShieldConfiguration. Thanks a lot and have a great day!

Pre-approval for Family Controls Entitlement?
Hi there, I am planning an app that requires use of the Family Controls Entitlement to access data on the user's screen time. I understand that this has to be requested from Apple before it can be used in production. I have found the following form to request approval, but it requires an App and bundle ID, which suggests that approval can only be requested after the app has been developed. https://developer.apple.com/contact/request/family-controls-distribution I'd like to avoid the situation where I spend a lot of time on developing the app, only to find out that the Family Controls Entitlement will not be granted for my use case. Is there any way that I can request provisional pre-approval for my app? Perhaps based on an app description and some mockups? Or, at least some idea of whether my particular use case is likely to be approved? Thanks.

Date that is not linked to TimeZone
Hello, I'm creating an app that stores multiple Date objects: the users selects a date and a time and receives a notification at this time precisely. The problem that happens is after saving a Date, if the device's timezone changes, the Date also changes - and that is not what's I'm expecting (just want the original time as is without depending on timezone). I have inspected the TimeZone properties when I'm building the Date from DateComponents but nothing has worked. Thank you for your answer.
