Is there any way to control alarm volume independently when using AlarmKit?
Is there any supported or recommended way to achieve user-configurable alarm volume while still using AlarmKit? Hi there! I’m currently building an alarm app on iOS using AlarmKit, and I’m running into a fundamental limitation around volume control. When using AlarmKit, alarm sounds are played at the system ringer volume. My goal is simple in concept: Allow users to set an alarm volume inside the app, and have the alarm sound play at that volume when triggered. However, AlarmKit does not provide any API to control or override the alarm volume. I’ve explored several approaches(AVSystemController, MPVolumeView...), but none achieved the desired result. Is there any supported or recommended way to achieve user-configurable alarm volume while still using AlarmKit? Any insights from developers who’ve shipped alarm apps, or from Apple engineers, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance 🙏

Apple Media Service T&C pop-up
I had published an App which App Clip is supported. I have receipt complaints from user where the user will keep showing the "Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions Have Changed" right after user click on the "Open" button in the App Clips. What I had tried: Let user switch the current logged in Apple Id region to one of our support region. Log out and log in with an Apple Id which had no issue.

CardSession.Error.maxSessionDurationReached not thrown on iOS 26
Hello, I have an app that emulates an NFC card using NFC HCE. Since yesterday I saw an increasing number of crashes on iOS 26 only, which wasn't there before. From what I can see, it seems the app crashes when the NFC presentment intent is shown and 60 seconds passed and user does nothing. The app just crashes after 60 seconds. On previous iOS versions, I know that CardSession.Error.maxSessionDurationReached was thrown after 60 seconds. Is something changed in iOS 26?

CallKit UI not invoked after receiving VoIP Push – app killed with NSInternalInconsistencyException
Our VoIP app receives PushKit notifications successfully (callservicesd Delivering 1 VoIP payload appears in logs). However, the app is consistently terminated by the system when running in the background or killed state. The crash is caused by iOS expecting a reportNewIncomingCall to CallKit, but the system reports: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'Killing app because it never posted an incoming call to the system after receiving a PushKit VoIP push.' *** Assertion failure in -[PKPushRegistry _terminateAppIfThereAreUnhandledVoIPPushes], PKPushRegistry.m:349 Key Observations: VoIP pushes arrive and are delivered to the app. In foreground, some methods work and CallKit UI sometimes appears. In background/killed state, app is always terminated before CallKit UI shows. Logs confirm the system requires CallKit to be reported immediately inside pushRegistry(_:didReceiveIncomingPushWith:for:completion:). Steps to Reproduce: Run the app with VoIP + CallKit integration. Put app in background (or kill it). Send a VoIP push. Observe system logs and crash: callservicesd: Delivering 1 VoIP payload(s) to application UrgiDoctor: Apps receiving VoIP pushes must post an incoming call via CallKit... error: Killing VoIP app because it failed to post an incoming call in time. Expected Behavior: On receiving a VoIP push, CallKit UI (Accept / Decline screen) should always appear. App should not be killed if reportNewIncomingCall is called in time. Actual Behavior: CallKit UI never appears in background/killed state. App is force-terminated by iOS before user can accept/decline the call. Request: Guidance on the correct sequence for calling reportNewIncomingCall and completionHandler() in pushRegistry. Clarification if any changes in iOS 17/18 affect PushKit + CallKit behavior. Best practices for ensuring CallKit UI always appears reliably after a VoIP push. Environment: iOS 18.5 Simulator + Device Xcode 16.4 Using PushKit + CallKit with VoIP entitlement

Can't get DeviceActivityReportExtension to work
DeviceActivityReportExtension issues Hi, I am currently working on a project and hoping to use DeviceActivityReportExtension. I have already successfully set up the DeviceActivityMonitorExtension and that is working correctly, but can't get this to reproduce. I initially had a complex capacitor project which displayed a native UI screen which (tried to) display the screen time report though it was failing silently. I tried a much simpler setup with a pure swift project (not an iOS dev so forgive my poor code quality) and still having an issue getting this to render on my computer. WeatherKit fails on AppStore
Hello, After being in the AppStore for more than a year with the app working perfectly, yesterday I started seeing that WeatherKit requests failed with Failed to generate jwt token for: com.apple.weatherkit.authservice with error: Error Domain=WeatherDaemon.WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener.Errors Code=2 "(null)" Encountered an error when fetching weather data subset; location=<+41.40217108,+2.20023642> +/- 0.00m (speed -1.00 mps / course -1.00) @ 13/12/25, 12:20:35 Central European Standard Time, error=WeatherDaemon.WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener.Errors 2 Error Domain=WeatherDaemon.WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener.Errors Code=2 "(null)" I checked on developer.apple.com and we still have everything turned on and No changes were made from an already deployed app; and we pay 200$ a month for WeatherKit, this is unacceptable since it's not the first time WeatherKit randomly decides to stop working. More fun facts: the widget works fine...

Using MetricKit for Hangs on macOS
Hallo all, I did a test integration of MetricKit into one of our apps...I'am on macOS Ventura 13.3.1 (a). The app is not distributed via the App Store. I subscribed to the MXMetricManager and implemented the didReceiveDiagnosticPayloads function. So far everything seems to work, when I use in Xcode: Debug -> Simulate MetricKit Payload I get a callback and the payload. So I did some further testing. When I build the app debug version with a test crash and then run the Debug Version (without Xcode) and let it crash the next time I start the app I get a callback to didReceiveDiagnosticPayloads with all the information about the crash. But I'am not able to get a hang report. I tested it by adding a sleep (60) and adding some intensive computation work on the main thread so that it is busy for several seconds, I get no hang reports :-( I'am using the Debug version and run it without Xcode. Are hang reports expected to be reported immediately? I also get after 24 hours no hang reports. Can someone help me? Thanks and have a nice day!

TipKit: Are tips marked "IgnoresDisplayFrequency" also ignored by display frequency?
Greetings, I have set up two tips in my app, and my app is configured with Tips.configure([.displayFrequency(.daily)]. Tip 1 is set up with no options. Tip 2 has the IgnoresDisplayFrequency(true) option set: var options: [Option] { MaxDisplayCount(3) // We want the user to see these because it's important. IgnoresDisplayFrequency(true) } This option works as expected, as far as I can tell, in terms of making sure that Tip 2 is shown even if I've already seen Tip 1 today. If I interact with my app such that Tip 1 is displayed, and I then interact with it such that Tip 2 should be displayed, Tip 2 shows immediately, even though a day hasn't passed. However, if I do this the other way around, so that Tip 2 is displayed first, and then I interact so that Tip 1 should be displayed, my expectation would be that Tip 1 is not displayed, because another tip has already been shown today. I expected that it would not be shown until the following day, since it is not configured to ignore the tip frequency. That's not what happens, though. Tip 1 is displayed right away, even though Tip 2 has just been shown. This makes me think that setting IgnoresDisplayFrequency on Tip 2 is causing it to also be ignored when considering whether other tips should be shown. I did try omitting IgnoresDisplayFrequency option, and then as expected, only one tip is shown on a day, no matter which one is shown first.

App Crashing iOS26
I have four apps currently deployed on the App Store. One of these apps crashes on launch when running on iOS 26, but functions as expected on iOS 18 and earlier versions. I am seeking to understand what changes in iOS 26 might be causing this issue. When running the app in debug mode on devices with iOS 26 using Xcode 16.1, the app crashes. The crash log references libobjc-trampolines.dylib, suggesting a potential issue with the Objective-C runtime. Has anyone else encountered a similar issue? Filtering MMS Messages with Multimedia Content (Images, Videos, etc.)
Hi Apple Developer, I’m working on a message-filtering application and reviewing Apple's documentation on message filtering. The documentation clearly states that MMS messages can be filtered. (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/identitylookup/sms-and-mms-message-filtering) When we refer to MMS, it includes images, short videos, and other supported multimedia formats. However, the ILMessageFilterQueryRequest only provides the message body as a String, meaning we can access text and links but not images or other media files. Screen Time issues after transferring App developer account ownership
After transferring the App ownership to a different account, if you update the app on iOS, two identical apps will show up in Settings > Screen Time. Users can't control the blocking settings from before the update - the only fix is to restart the phone. After the next execution of manageStore.shield.applications, users still can't manually disable the restrictions - their only option is to uninstall and reinstall the app. I believe this is related to how Screen Time API's authentication works - it's not just tied to the app's bundle ID, but also linked to the developer account's organization ID. Any suggestions for a clean solution that would allow smooth app updates after the transfer without running into these issues?

SCREEN TIME API is reporting false positives to DeviceActivityMonitor extension in iOS 26.2 & 26.3
Since the iOS 26.2 update, we have been experiencing anomalous behavior with the DeviceActivityMonitor extension when utilizing the ScreenTime API. Specifically, we are receiving the eventDidReachThreshold event within a few minutes of initiating monitoring, despite configuring a high usage limit. CallKit Call Blocking Not Working
I have also tested this on iOS 26 (Beta 9 and above), and the CallKit call blocking functionality is not working. Numbers that should be blocked still ring through. Caller Identification continues to function as expected, but blocking entries (addBlockingEntry) are ignored.

Reliable Shield enforcement for Parental Control App when child disables Notifications
We're building a parental control app using FamilyControls (.child authorization). Our architecture: Parent sends pause command → Firestore + FCM Child receives push → NotificationService Extension triggers main app Main app sets ManagedSettings Shields Problem: If child disables Notifications in Settings and force-quits the app, we cannot enforce Shields. What we've tried: Firestore Realtime Listener (works only when app is running) DeviceActivityMonitor (intervalDidStart/End only triggers at schedule boundaries, eventDidReachThreshold requires explicit app selection via FamilyActivityPicker) Question: Is there a recommended approach for parental control apps to reliably enforce Shields when the child has disabled notifications? Or is this a known limitation?

Activating a Container App from a Custom Keyboard Extension to Enable Continuous Voice Input While Preserving the Original Typing Context
Project Background: I am developing a third-party custom keyboard for iOS whose primary feature is real-time voice input. In my current design, responsibilities are split as follows: 1. The container (main) app is responsible for: Audio recording Speech recognition (ASR) 2. The keyboard extension is responsible for: Providing the keyboard UI Initiating the voice input workflow Receiving transcription results via an App Group Inserting recognized text into the active text field using textDocumentProxy.insertText(_:) Intended User Flow The intended workflow is: The user is typing in a third-party app (for example, WeChat) using my custom keyboard. The user taps a “Voice Input” button in the keyboard extension. The keyboard extension activates the container app so that audio recording and ASR can begin. After recording has started, control returns to the original app where the user was typing. The container app continues running in the background, maintaining active audio recording and ASR. Recognized text is continuously streamed back to the keyboard extension and inserted into the current cursor position in real time. Observed Industry Behavior Some popular third-party keyboards on iOS, such as WeChat Keyboard and Doubao Keyboard, appear to provide a similar user experience in which: Voice input can be initiated directly from the keyboard while typing in another app. The user remains (or returns) in the original typing context after voice input starts. Speech recognition continues and text is streamed into the active text field without interrupting the typing experience. I would like to better understand how this type of workflow aligns with iOS platform capabilities and supported APIs. My Questions Is it supported by iOS public APIs for a custom keyboard extension to activate its container app to start audio recording and ASR, then return to the original host app while the container app continues recording and performing ASR in the background? If this workflow is not supported, are there any Apple-recommended or supported alternative architectures for achieving a similar user experience, especially when audio recording and ASR logic are currently implemented in the container app rather than in the keyboard extension? Goal My goal is to design a solution that is fully compliant with iOS public APIs and platform constraints, while providing a real-time voice input experience comparable to existing third-party keyboards on the platform. Any guidance on supported APIs, recommended architectures, or relevant documentation would be greatly appreciated.

In background/killed state, app is always terminated before CallKit UI shows. Logs confirm the system requires CallKit to be reported immediately inside pushRegistry(_:didReceiveIncomingPushWith:for:completion:). Steps to Reproduce: Run the app with VoIP + CallKit integration. Put app in background (or kill it). Send a VoIP push. Observe system logs and crash: callservicesd: Delivering 1 VoIP payload(s) to application UrgiDoctor: Apps receiving VoIP pushes must post an incoming call via CallKit... error: Killing VoIP app because it failed to post an incoming call in time. Expected Behavior: On receiving a VoIP push, CallKit UI (Accept / Decline screen) should always appear. App should not be killed if reportNewIncomingCall is called in time. Actual Behavior: CallKit UI never appears in background/killed state. App is force-terminated by iOS before user can accept/decline the call. Request: Guidance on the correct sequence for calling reportNewIncomingCall and completionHandler() in pushRegistry. Clarification if any changes in iOS 17/18 affect PushKit + CallKit behavior. Best practices for ensuring CallKit UI always appears reliably after a VoIP push. Environment: iOS 18.5 Simulator + Device Xcode 16.4 Using PushKit + CallKit with VoIP entitlement

Can't get DeviceActivityReportExtension to work
DeviceActivityReportExtension issues Hi, I am currently working on a project and hoping to use DeviceActivityReportExtension. I have already successfully set up the DeviceActivityMonitorExtension and that is working correctly, but can't get this to reproduce. I initially had a complex capacitor project which displayed a native UI screen which (tried to) display the screen time report though it was failing silently. I tried a much simpler setup with a pure swift project (not an iOS dev so forgive my poor code quality) and still having an issue getting this to render on my computer. WeatherKit fails on AppStore
Hello, After being in the AppStore for more than a year with the app working perfectly, yesterday I started seeing that WeatherKit requests failed with Failed to generate jwt token for: com.apple.weatherkit.authservice with error: Error Domain=WeatherDaemon.WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener.Errors Code=2 "(null)" Encountered an error when fetching weather data subset; location=<+41.40217108,+2.20023642> +/- 0.00m (speed -1.00 mps / course -1.00) @ 13/12/25, 12:20:35 Central European Standard Time, error=WeatherDaemon.WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener.Errors 2 Error Domain=WeatherDaemon.WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener.Errors Code=2 "(null)" I checked on developer.apple.com and we still have everything turned on and No changes were made from an already deployed app; and we pay 200$ a month for WeatherKit, this is unacceptable since it's not the first time WeatherKit randomly decides to stop working. Using MetricKit for Hangs on macOS
Hallo all, I did a test integration of MetricKit into one of our apps...I'am on macOS Ventura 13.3.1 (a). The app is not distributed via the App Store. I subscribed to the MXMetricManager and implemented the didReceiveDiagnosticPayloads function. So far everything seems to work, when I use in Xcode: Debug -> Simulate MetricKit Payload I get a callback and the payload. So I did some further testing. When I build the app debug version with a test crash and then run the Debug Version (without Xcode) and let it crash the next time I start the app I get a callback to didReceiveDiagnosticPayloads with all the information about the crash. But I'am not able to get a hang report. I tested it by adding a sleep (60) and adding some intensive computation work on the main thread so that it is busy for several seconds, I get no hang reports :-( I'am using the Debug version and run it without Xcode. Are hang reports expected to be reported immediately? I also get after 24 hours no hang reports. Can someone help me? Thanks and have a nice day!

TipKit: Are tips marked "IgnoresDisplayFrequency" also ignored by display frequency?
Greetings, I have set up two tips in my app, and my app is configured with Tips.configure([.displayFrequency(.daily)]. Tip 1 is set up with no options. Tip 2 has the IgnoresDisplayFrequency(true) option set: var options: [Option] { MaxDisplayCount(3) // We want the user to see these because it's important. IgnoresDisplayFrequency(true) } This option works as expected, as far as I can tell, in terms of making sure that Tip 2 is shown even if I've already seen Tip 1 today. If I interact with my app such that Tip 1 is displayed, and I then interact with it such that Tip 2 should be displayed, Tip 2 shows immediately, even though a day hasn't passed. However, if I do this the other way around, so that Tip 2 is displayed first, and then I interact so that Tip 1 should be displayed, my expectation would be that Tip 1 is not displayed, because another tip has already been shown today. I expected that it would not be shown until the following day, since it is not configured to ignore the tip frequency. That's not what happens, though. Tip 1 is displayed right away, even though Tip 2 has just been shown. This makes me think that setting IgnoresDisplayFrequency on Tip 2 is causing it to also be ignored when considering whether other tips should be shown. I did try omitting IgnoresDisplayFrequency option, and then as expected, only one tip is shown on a day, no matter which one is shown first.

App Crashing iOS26
I have four apps currently deployed on the App Store. One of these apps crashes on launch when running on iOS 26, but functions as expected on iOS 18 and earlier versions. I am seeking to understand what changes in iOS 26 might be causing this issue. When running the app in debug mode on devices with iOS 26 using Xcode 16.1, the app crashes. The crash log references libobjc-trampolines.dylib, suggesting a potential issue with the Objective-C runtime. Has anyone else encountered a similar issue? Filtering MMS Messages with Multimedia Content (Images, Videos, etc.)
Hi Apple Developer, I’m working on a message-filtering application and reviewing Apple's documentation on message filtering. The documentation clearly states that MMS messages can be filtered. (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/identitylookup/sms-and-mms-message-filtering) When we refer to MMS, it includes images, short videos, and other supported multimedia formats. However, the ILMessageFilterQueryRequest only provides the message body as a String, meaning we can access text and links but not images or other media files. Screen Time issues after transferring App developer account ownership
After transferring the App ownership to a different account, if you update the app on iOS, two identical apps will show up in Settings > Screen Time. Users can't control the blocking settings from before the update - the only fix is to restart the phone. After the next execution of manageStore.shield.applications, users still can't manually disable the restrictions - their only option is to uninstall and reinstall the app. I believe this is related to how Screen Time API's authentication works - it's not just tied to the app's bundle ID, but also linked to the developer account's organization ID. Any suggestions for a clean solution that would allow smooth app updates after the transfer without running into these issues?

SCREEN TIME API is reporting false positives to DeviceActivityMonitor extension in iOS 26.2 & 26.3
Since the iOS 26.2 update, we have been experiencing anomalous behavior with the DeviceActivityMonitor extension when utilizing the ScreenTime API. Specifically, we are receiving the eventDidReachThreshold event within a few minutes of initiating monitoring, despite configuring a high usage limit. CallKit Call Blocking Not Working
I have also tested this on iOS 26 (Beta 9 and above), and the CallKit call blocking functionality is not working. Numbers that should be blocked still ring through. Caller Identification continues to function as expected, but blocking entries (addBlockingEntry) are ignored.

Reliable Shield enforcement for Parental Control App when child disables Notifications
We're building a parental control app using FamilyControls (.child authorization). Our architecture: Parent sends pause command → Firestore + FCM Child receives push → NotificationService Extension triggers main app Main app sets ManagedSettings Shields Problem: If child disables Notifications in Settings and force-quits the app, we cannot enforce Shields. What we've tried: Firestore Realtime Listener (works only when app is running) DeviceActivityMonitor (intervalDidStart/End only triggers at schedule boundaries, eventDidReachThreshold requires explicit app selection via FamilyActivityPicker) Question: Is there a recommended approach for parental control apps to reliably enforce Shields when the child has disabled notifications? Or is this a known limitation?

Activating a Container App from a Custom Keyboard Extension to Enable Continuous Voice Input While Preserving the Original Typing Context
Project Background: I am developing a third-party custom keyboard for iOS whose primary feature is real-time voice input. In my current design, responsibilities are split as follows: 1. The container (main) app is responsible for: Audio recording Speech recognition (ASR) 2. The keyboard extension is responsible for: Providing the keyboard UI Initiating the voice input workflow Receiving transcription results via an App Group Inserting recognized text into the active text field using textDocumentProxy.insertText(_:) Intended User Flow The intended workflow is: The user is typing in a third-party app (for example, WeChat) using my custom keyboard. The user taps a “Voice Input” button in the keyboard extension. The keyboard extension activates the container app so that audio recording and ASR can begin. After recording has started, control returns to the original app where the user was typing. The container app continues running in the background, maintaining active audio recording and ASR. Recognized text is continuously streamed back to the keyboard extension and inserted into the current cursor position in real time. Observed Industry Behavior Some popular third-party keyboards on iOS, such as WeChat Keyboard and Doubao Keyboard, appear to provide a similar user experience in which: Voice input can be initiated directly from the keyboard while typing in another app. The user remains (or returns) in the original typing context after voice input starts. Speech recognition continues and text is streamed into the active text field without interrupting the typing experience. I would like to better understand how this type of workflow aligns with iOS platform capabilities and supported APIs. My Questions Is it supported by iOS public APIs for a custom keyboard extension to activate its container app to start audio recording and ASR, then return to the original host app while the container app continues recording and performing ASR in the background? If this workflow is not supported, are there any Apple-recommended or supported alternative architectures for achieving a similar user experience, especially when audio recording and ASR logic are currently implemented in the container app rather than in the keyboard extension? Goal My goal is to design a solution that is fully compliant with iOS public APIs and platform constraints, while providing a real-time voice input experience comparable to existing third-party keyboards on the platform. Any guidance on supported APIs, recommended architectures, or relevant documentation would be greatly appreciated.
