I’ve seen, mainly in discussions with AIs, that ARFaceTrackingConfiguration uses the same technology as Face ID and therefore should work in complete darkness. However, I haven’t been able to achieve this. Does anyone know if this is actually true?
I'm using an iPhone 16 to test, and the Face ID works well in darkness.
ARFaceTrackingConfiguration tracks facial movements and expressions, whereas Face ID is a secure authentication mechanism using facial features. While they are both using the TrueDepth camera, they are different technologies. ARFaceTrackingConfiguration requires a certain amount of light and does not work in total darkness.
