I built a web application using the Apple Pay on the Web Interactive Demo with the Payment Request API, but encountered a few issues:
The initiated web Apple Pay interface shows a spinning circle at the bottom and cannot proceed with payment(Bottom display:正在处理). What could be causing this?
How to set up sandbox testing for payments?
How to asynchronously and synchronously retrieve payment results (backend code to fetch payment results)? The demo only shows frontend code using await response.complete("success"); for retrieving payment results

After upgrading to Xcode 15.2 or above(Till Xcode 16.2), users are unable to open Site B (HTTP URL) from Site A (HTTP URL) within our Browser app when loaded in WKWebView. Clicking the link to Site B results in a spinning wheel, but the site does not load. This issue is not present when the app is built with Xcode 15.0.1.
Additionally:
Users are connected to a VPN, which is required to access the sites.
Site A and Site B are on different domains (cross-domain request).
Expected Behavior:
Clicking the link to Site B should successfully load the site with user information passed from Site A.
Current Behavior:
Clicking the link results in a spinning wheel, but Site B does not load inside WKWebView.
Technical Details:
Both Site A and Site B use HTTP (not HTTPS).
Site A and Site B have different domains (cross-domain request).
Do not use location.href for transitions. Instead, we temporarily set about:blank in an iframe and then submit data via a form to the target system’s URL within the iframe.
This approach worked in Xcode 15.0.1 but fails in Xcode 15.2 or above.
Users are connected to a VPN, which is required to access the sites.
WKWebview is not receiving navigation delegate callback for Site B
Steps to Reproduce:
Ensure the device is connected to a VPN.
Open the app (using WKWebView) built with Xcode 15.2 or above.
Load Site A (HTTP) within the app in WKWebView.
Click the link to Site B (HTTP), which should open in an iframe.
Observe that a spinning wheel appears, but Site B does not load.
Environment:
Xcode Versions Affected: 15.2 or above (issue present), 15.0.1 (no issue)
iOS Version: All iOS versions
Devices: iPad
Questions:
Has there been any change in WKWebView’s handling of HTTP URLs or VPN-related network traffic in Xcode 15.2?
Are there any new security policies, iframe restrictions, or VPN-related changes in this version that might be affecting this behavior?
Request for Assistance:
Can you confirm if this is a known issue or an intended change?
Are there any workarounds available?
Hi there,
I use the Clipboard API to create formatted project links with a "copy link" button. This has been really versatile for end users. When they paste into their email, they get a hyperlinked project name that leads to the project, and when they paste into the URL bar, they just get the project URL.
It used to be that pasting into Messages on Mac would yield the same behavior as pasting into the URL bar. But recently, Messages started only pasting the inner text of the HTML clipboard, so no URL, just the project name, which isn’t very useful for a copy link function.
Is there any way to ensure that Messages pastes the URL while maintaining my formatting options on other surfaces?
I've been unable to successfully get a webpage to send a message to a Safari web extension, no matter what I try doing.
I've added the following to my manifest.json file, and it's running manifest v3
{
"externally_connectable": {
"matches": [ "*://mywebsite.com/*", "*://localhost:3000/*" ]
}
}
My web page executes the following code snippet. I've tried this both while running my site locally (on localhost) and pushed to production.
let safariExtensionId = "co.companyname.productname.Extension (ABCD1234)"
browser.runtime.sendMessage(safariExtensionId, { greeting: "hello"},
function(response) {
console.log("Received response from background page");
console.log(response.farewell);
}
);
In the Safari web extension's background.js file, I've added the following onMessageExternal listener:
browser.runtime.onMessageExternal.addListener((message, sender, sendResponse) => {
console.log("Received message from the sender.");
console.log(message.greeting);
sendResponse({ farewell: "Goodbye!" });
});
This is directly copied from the instructions in this WWDC video:
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/safariservices/messaging-between-a-webpage-and-your-safari-web-extension
It's also extremely difficult to debug what's happening since the extensions service working frequently does not appear in the Web Extension Background Content menu
Is there something I'm doing wrong, or a bug I'm not aware of?
The extension popups don't seem to support the dark mode media query.
The only way the query gets detected is when a color-scheme is added:
<meta name="color-scheme"content="light dark">
Hello, ive been dealing with this glitch all year that hasnt happened last year. When I watch a video on public safari and then it exit the video it immediately takes me to the private tab but when I go on the private tab to watch videos and exit out it takes me back to the website just like normal. Its a pretty annoying bug and I watch all my videos in the private tab because of it

We are encountering a download issue in Safari 18.2 on macOS Sequoia 15.2 where file downloads initiated by our AngularJS application (such as Excel exports) are silently blocked.
There are no errors in the browser console, and the download does not occur.
Interestingly, after testing on Safari 18.3 with Sequoia 15.3, the downloads worked as expected.
However, the problem reappeared on Safari 18.4 with Sequoia 15.4.
We suspect that recent changes in Safari’s security or download handling may be preventing downloads triggered via asynchronous JavaScript (e.g., AJAX calls) that are not initiated directly by user interaction.
We would appreciate any insights, suggestions, or possible workarounds from the community. Looking forward to your guidance on this matter.
Since the transition to iOS 18.4, we have been having an issue where when loading an m3u8 file specified in the src attribute of a video tag in WKWebView, the ts file is loaded repeatedly.
Are there any good ideas for this?
Also, if there have been any changes to the specifications of WKWebView, we would appreciate it if you could let us know.
We seem to be having an issue with a webservice here which is used within our network and IOS Safari. For the service to work , we need to access it with an unencrypted HTTP API call, which acts as a trigger. The server does not respond to HTTPS requests. (the HTTP API call does not contain any data that is privacy sensitive or that can be abused)
Since recently the service does not seem to work anymore properly, but this only happens with Safari and IOS. With all other browsers the service is still working normally, only with Safarai it fails.
No matter what I do in the settings of the phone, the Safar browser seems to stop immediately after the HTTP request. What is going on here ??
The issue seems to occur only when you don't have an iCloud+ account. With an iCloud+ account I get the same issue when you switch Apple Private Relay on, but that make sense. When I have Apple Private Relay switched off, there is no issue.

"The Referer header allows a server to identify referring pages that people are visiting from or where requested resources are being used. "
This header is never forwarded to server when the user is browsing the website in a WebView. This is properly maintained by other browsers but not in-app.
How do I include it?

I have an endpoint that generates a .ics file. From my mobile app, I open the browser (Safari) and retrieve the .ics file. In Safari, the events are displayed as expected, and I can use the "Add All" button to add them to the calendar. After clicking "Add All," I can select the desired calendar, and the events are successfully added (see screenshots 1 and 2 below).
Here’s the initial .ics file response:
BEGIN:VCALENDAR

LAST-MODIFIED:20250101T155715Z

END:VEVENT
END:VCALENDAR
Later, I updated the .ics file with new event details:
BEGIN:VCALENDAR

LAST-MODIFIED:20250102T155715Z

END:VEVENT
END:VCALENDAR
I updated everything according to the iCalendar documentation:
UID remained unchanged
SEQUENCE has been updated
DTSTAMP has been updated
LAST-MODIFIED has been updated
However it seems like that Safari can't handle updates on events.
In the preview we can see the changes, but when I click on "Add All" button, nothing happens.
The same behavior is working with other calendars like Outlook (web view) or Google Calendar.
My Questions:
Is there a property missing from my .ics file that is necessary for iOS Safari to handle updates?
Is Safari not designed to handle event updates in this way?
Should I consider moving to a subscription-based solution to manage updates more reliably?
Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Calling SFContentBlockerManager.reloadContentBlocker from related App extension intermittently fails
I have an app which has at least two extensions:
A Content Blocker extension with a request handler that returns an appropriate NSExtensionItem as part of beginRequest. A different file URL is returned depending upon if the content blocking is on or off by a user setting
A Safari Web Extension that includes a toolbar button and popover that enables users to enable or disable the ad blocking of the content blocker extension
All three targets (App, Content Blocker appex and Web Extension appex) use an App Group default to read and set the on or off status of the content blocking.
When the user changes the content blocking status, the app group default is updated and SFContentBlockerManager.reloadContentBlocker(...) is called.
The Content Blocker extension reads the default and then returns the appropriate file URL.
The issue is, I have noticed that whenever SFContentBlockerManager.reloadContentBlocker(...) is called from the app, Safari always applies the correct rules from the returned file URL.
However sometimes when SFContentBlockerManager.reloadContentBlocker(...) is called from the Safari Web Extension using native messaging, Safari does NOT apply the correct rules from the returned file URL.
Using logging I have confirmed that the Content Blocker extension always returns the appropriate file URL irrespective if called as a result of the app or the web extension.
Despite this, Safari does not seem to always apply the returned file URL rules when it is called from the Safari Web Extension appex. In these cases, quitting Safari and relaunching it seems to make it apply the rules correctly (obviously this is applying it due to its launch state, not due to the Web extension appex asking it to do so at that point).
All targets have access to the App Group location where the active content blocking file URL belongs and the inactive content blocking file URL is within the Safari content blocker target as a resource.
I don't think this is a memory status issue as I cannot see the Content Blocker extension being killed when it returns complex rules --- the fact it always works when called via the app also seems to rule this possibility out.
This brings up a number of questions:
Is calling SFContentBlockerManager.reloadContentBlocker(...) from a different appex, of the same app target and app group supported? (it seems to work sometimes and did work in previous versions of the app).
Is there an issue that the Content Blocker extension sometimes returns a file URL that perhaps the calling Web Extension appex may not have access to (even though Safari should via the Content Blocker extension)?
Any other ideas of why this may not be working correctly?
Has anyone else experienced this?
It seems to happen on both iOS and macOS Safari using the same codebase.
I have a business scenario where I want to guide users to Safari and open a Safari extension. How can I open Safari from my app and navigate to a specific webpage?

On Mac, If the user registers the Password and the Software Authenticator app for a website like PayPal then uses the Safari browser to login the Apple system is creating confusion.
The system prompts to use the authenticator autofill for any grid like SMS OTP or even for the Email OTP. That creates confusion for the user as the SMS OTPs or other OTPs cannot be validated by auto filling the Authenticator TOTP. That fails the validation resulting in bad user experience.
The system should not prompt the Autofill from the Authenticator app unless the grid box shown on the page was for the Authenticator app.

We are experiencing a problem that seems to be caused by a specification changes for Safari.
We would like to discuss how to solve this problem.
Sample JavaScript:
<html>
<head>
<script>
function jumpPage(code) {
document.main.code.value = code;
win1=window.open("","win1","toolbar=no,resizable=yes,menubar=no,scrollbars=yes,status=yes,left=0,top=0");
win1.resizeTo(width=screen.availWidth,height=screen.availHeight);
document.main.action="details";
document.main.target="win1";
document.main.submit();
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<form name="main" method="post" action="" target="">
<a href="javascript:jumpPage('001')">details</a>
<input type="hidden" name="code" value="">
</body>
</html>
This JavaScript performs the following actions when a link is clicked.
Open a window using window.open in JavaScript
Submit the above opened window by post method to the target in JavaScript.
When this operation is performed, the process in (2) could submit to the
target page with “POST” method before iOS18.1, but
will transition to the page with“GET”method from iOS18.2 onward.
All protocols are http.
This problem does not occur if the URL is specified as an IP address, but it does occur if the host name is specified as.
Please let me know how to use with“POST”method as in iOS 18.2 or earlier.
Best regards,

I am using SFSafariViewController to process payments via a Stripe checkout URL. Once the payment is completed, the user is redirected to a success URL. I have also added associated domains for deep linking. Below is my implementation:
func presentCheckout(url: String) {
showProgressHUD()
let checkoutURL = URL(string: url)!
safariVC = SFSafariViewController(url: checkoutURL)
safariVC.delegate = self
self.present(safariVC, animated: true)
}
// Delegate method implementations
func safariViewControllerDidFinish(_ controller: SFSafariViewController) {
print("SafariViewController dismissed")
// Handle dismissal
}
func safariViewController(_ controller: SFSafariViewController, initialLoadDidRedirectTo URL: URL) {
print(URL.absoluteString)
if URL.absoluteString.contains("xsworld/payment/stripe/checkout/success") {
controller.dismiss(animated: true) {
if URL.absoluteString.contains("/v1/resources/xsworld/payment/stripe/checkout") {
NotificationCenter.default.post(
name: Notification.Name("StripePaymentStatus"),
object: nil,
userInfo: ["url": URL]
)
}
}
} else if URL.absoluteString.contains("xsworld/payment/stripe/checkout/cancel") {
// Handle failure
NotificationCenter.default.post(
name: Notification.Name("StripePaymentStatus"),
object: nil,
userInfo: ["url": URL]
)
}
}
func safariViewController(_ controller: SFSafariViewController, didCompleteInitialLoad didLoadSuccessfully: Bool) {
if didLoadSuccessfully {
print("Initial page loaded successfully")
} else {
print("Initial page load failed")
}
}
Issue:
The safariViewController(_:initialLoadDidRedirectTo:) method does not always get called after the payment is completed. Sometimes it works as expected, and sometimes it does not trigger at all.
What I’ve Tried:
Ensuring the associated domains for deep linking are correctly set up.
Checking the success and failure URLs.
Debugging to see if the redirect happens but is not detected.
What I Need Help With:
I want to ensure that the redirection always works after the payment process is completed, whether through deep linking or another reliable approach. How can I guarantee that my app correctly detects and handles the redirect every time?
Any guidance or best practices would be greatly appreciated.

Hello.
We are adding a Safari extension to our app and we have some questions
about communication between the app and its extension.
We have added the nativeMessaging permission to the extension so that it can communicate with the app and communication between both are doing very well.
Our question is about the security of communications between the two.
How can we be sure the native app communicates well with the correct extension?
Can the Safari extension communicate with another native app or can the native app receive messages from another extension?
