Hi all im having a variety of issues with gamekit matchmaking. On the simulator the matchmaking ui pops up and I can click Quick Match, then immediately "Failed to find Players" this is the same with a real Apple ID and a sandbox account.
If I use real devices the app at least discovers a match, but then the match none of the delegate methods for the match ever get called and the logs are filled with socket not connected and various errors.
My questions are:
Should match making via quick match work in the simulator, I have seen tutorial videos etc of this working, but I can't seem to get it to work.
How do people debug issues with GameCenter / Gamekit to find out why its not able to connect?
Many thanks in advance
My IOS app generates pdf files.
Every time my users open the generated pdf files, the autofill popup jumps out, but my pdf file is NOT for interacting.
I'm here to ask if there's a way to mark my pdf files as "not a form", like in metadata or anywhere else?
TLDR; I can't get QueueName to work with matchmaking a turn-based match in Unity using matchmaking rules.
Long version:
I'm using the apple unity plugin found here: https://github.com/apple/unityplugins/blob/main/plug-ins/Apple.GameKit/Apple.GameKit_Unity/Assets/Apple.GameKit/Documentation~/Apple.GameKit.md
I have created a Queue, RuleSet and a simple Rule to match players by following these docs tightly: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/gamekit/finding-players-using-matchmaking-rules.
Here is the single rule I have that drives matchmaking:
{
"data" : {
"type" : "gameCenterMatchmakingRules",
"id" : "[hiddden-rule-id]",
"attributes" : {
"referenceName" : "ComplimentaryFactionPreference",
"description" : "default desc",
"type" : "MATCH",
"expression" : "requests[0].properties.preference != requests[1].properties.preference",
"weight" : null
},
"links" : {
"self" : "https://api.appstoreconnect.apple.com/v1/gameCenterMatchmakingRules/[hidden-rule-id]"
}
},
"links" : {
"self" : "https://api.appstoreconnect.apple.com/v1/gameCenterMatchmakingRules"
}
}
which belongs to a rule set which belongs to a queue. I have verified these are setup and linked via the App Store Connect API. Additionally, when I tested queue-based matchmaking without a queue established, I got an error in Unity. Now, with this, I do not. However there is a problem when I attempt to use the queue for matchmaking.
I have the basic C# function here:
public override void StartSearch(NSMutableDictionary<NSString, NSObject> properties)
{
if (searching) return;
base.StartSearch(properties);
//Establish matchmaking requests
_matchRequest = GKMatchRequest.Init();
_matchRequest.QueueName = _PreferencesToQueue(GetSerializedPreferences());
_matchRequest.Properties = properties;
_matchRequest.MaxPlayers = PLAYERS_COUNT;
_matchRequest.MinPlayers = PLAYERS_COUNT;
_matchTask = GKTurnBasedMatch.Find(_matchRequest);
}
The
_PreferencesToQueue(GetSerializedPreferences());
returns the exact name of the queue I added my ruleset to.
After this function is called, I poll the task generated from the .Find(...) function. Every time I run this function, a new match is created almost instantly. No two players are ever added to the same match.
Further, I'm running two built game instances, one on a mac and another on an ipad and when I simultaneously test, I am unable to join games this way.
Can someone help me debug why I cannot seem to match make when using a queue based approach?
Hi,
I'm trying to add game center challenges and activities to an already live game, but they are not appearing in game for testing, GameCenter, or the Games app.
I know the game is setup with GameKit entitlements since this is a live game and it has working leaderboards and achievements.
I've updated to Tahoe beta 8, added a challenge and activity on app store connect, added that to a new distribution and added that distribution to 'Add for Review'
I'm using Unity and the Apple Unity plugin
Not sure what other steps I'm missing
Thanks
I am trying to install the Game Porting Toolkit 2.1 according to the Readme file provided with the toolkit.
When I run the following command:
WINEPREFIX=~/my-game-prefix brew --prefix game-porting-toolkit/bin/wine64 winecfg
I get an error message:
zsh: no such file or directory: /usr/local/opt/game-porting-toolkit/bin/wine64
I don't know how to resolve this.
When I type in the command which brew , I get the path
/usr/local/bin/brew
What am I doing wrong?
Hello
I am trying to get thread group memory access in fragment shader. In essence, I would like to have all the fragments in a tile to bitwiseOR some value. My idea was to use simd_or across the SIMD group, then make each SIMD group thread 0 to atomic or the value into thread group memory. Finally very first thread of the tile would be tasked with writing the value down to texture with write access.
Now, I can allocate the thread group memory argument to the fragment function all right. MTLRenderEncoder has setThreadgroupMemoryLength call, which I am using the following way
[renderEncoder setThreagroupMemoryLength: 16 offset: 0 atIndex:0]
Unfortunately, all I am getting is the following error (runtime assertion)
-[MTLDebugRenderCommandEncoder setThreadgroupMemoryLength:offset:atIndex:]:3487: failed assertion Set Threadgroup Memory Length Validation
offset + length(16) must be <= threadgroupMemoryLength(0).`
What I am doing wrong? How I can get thread group memory in the fragment shader? I know I could use tile shading and compute function but the problem is that here I really like to use fragment stuff. Will be grateful for help.
I am using Unity's GameKit to implement a turnbase game.
I want to make a UI in Unity to show all the games I can join.
I tried using
var matches = await GKTurnBasedMatch.LoadMatches();
to get all the open matches.
But it seems that I can only get the matcm related to the current apple account.
Can you help me get all the matches?
ALSO
I used
var match = await GKTurnBasedMatchmakerViewController.Request(request);
to exit the gamecenter interface and start a game (automatic matching, no one was invited)
Another device used
var match = await GKTurnBasedMatch.Find(request);
to find the game, but it did not find the game, but it start a new game (automatic matching).
Can you help me solve these problems?
Given a graph with added obstacles I want to make a copy of it.
When I make the copy:
currentGrath added 20 obstacles.
var newGrapth = currentGrath.copy() as? GKObstacleGraph
newGrapth2.removeObstacles([newGrapth!.obstacles.first!])
This returns a BAD ACCESS.
I don't understand what's going on or what the problem is.
If I do this same thing with the main network there is no problem:
currentGrath.removeObstacles([currentGrath!.obstacles.first!])
Thanks for the help

Problem Description
I'm encountering an issue with SCNTechnique where the clearColor setting is being ignored when multiple passes share the same depth buffer. The clear color always appears as the scene background, regardless of what value I set. The minimal project for reproducing the issue: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/30mx06xunh75wgl3t4sbd/SCNTechniqueCustomSymbols.zip?rlkey=yuehjtk7xh2pmdbetv2r8t2lx&st=b9uobpkp&dl=0
Problem Details
In my SCNTechnique configuration, I have two passes that need to share the same depth buffer for proper occlusion handling:
"passes": [
"box1_pass": [
"draw": "DRAW_SCENE",
"includeCategoryMask": 1,
"colorStates": [
"clear": true,
"clearColor": "0 0 0 0" // Expecting transparent black
],
"depthStates": [
"clear": true,
"enableWrite": true
],
"outputs": [
"depth": "box1_depth",
"color": "box1_color"
],
],
"box2_pass": [
"draw": "DRAW_SCENE",
"includeCategoryMask": 2,
"colorStates": [
"clear": true,
"clearColor": "0 0 0 0" // Also expecting transparent black
],
"depthStates": [
"clear": false,
"enableWrite": false
],
"outputs": [
"depth": "box1_depth", // Sharing the same depth buffer
"color": "box2_color",
],
],
"final_quad": [
"draw": "DRAW_QUAD",
"metalVertexShader": "myVertexShader",
"metalFragmentShader": "myFragmentShader",
"inputs": [
"box1_color": "box1_color",
"box2_color": "box2_color",
],
"outputs": [
"color": "COLOR"
]
]
]
And the metal shader used to display box1_color and box2_color with splitting:
fragment half4 myFragmentShader(VertexOut in [[stage_in]],
texture2d<half, access::sample> box1_color [[texture(0)]],
texture2d<half, access::sample> box2_color [[texture(1)]]) {
half4 color1 = box1_color.sample(s, in.texcoord);
half4 color2 = box2_color.sample(s, in.texcoord);
if (in.texcoord.x < 0.5) {
return color1;
}
return color2;
};
Expected Behavior
Both passes should clear their color targets to transparent black (0, 0, 0, 0)
The depth buffer should be shared between passes for proper occlusion
Actual Behavior
Both box1_color and box2_color targets contain the scene background instead of being cleared to transparent (see attached image)
This happens even when I explicitly set clearColor: "0 0 0 0" for both passes
Setting scene.background.contents = UIColor.clear makes the clearColor work as expected, but I need to keep the scene background for other purposes
What I've Tried
Setting different clearColor values - all are ignored when sharing depth buffer
Using DRAW_NODE instead of DRAW_SCENE - didn't solve the issue
Creating a separate pass to capture the background - the background still appears in the other passes
Various combinations of clear flags and render orders
Environment
iOS/macOS, running with "My Mac (Designed for iPad)"
Xcode 16.2
Question
Is this a known limitation of SceneKit when passes share a depth buffer? Is there a workaround to achieve truly transparent clear colors while maintaining a shared depth buffer for occlusion testing?
The core issue seems to be that SceneKit automatically renders the scene background in every DRAW_SCENE pass when a shared depth buffer is detected, overriding any clearColor settings.
Any insights or workarounds would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I have run into an issue where I am trying to use atomic_float in a swift package but I cannot get things to compile because it appears that the Swift Package Manager doesn't support Metal 3 (atomic_float is Metal 3 functionality). Is there any way around this? I am using
// swift-tools-version: 6.1
and my Metal code includes:
#include <metal_stdlib>
#include <metal_geometric>
#include <metal_math>
#include <metal_atomic>
using namespace metal;
kernel void test(device atomic_float* imageBuffer [[buffer(1)]],
uint id [[ thread_position_in_grid ]]) {
}
But I get an error on the definition of atomic_float .
Any help, one more importantly, where I could have found this information about this limitation, would be helpful.

I want to use reality to create a custom material that can use my own shader and support Mesh instancing (for rendering 3D Gaussian splating), but I found that CustomMaterial does not support VisionOS. Is there any other interface that can achieve my needs? Where can I find examples?

When running on my iPhone SE3 under IOS 18.4.1, achievement banners show as expected. The same code running on my iPad Air2 under IOS 15.8.4, achievement banners do not show, but they are accepted (as shown in the GameCenterViewController). The banners also don't show when running the simulator under iPhone 16 Pro Max under IOS 18.2 or simulator under iPhone SE3 under IOS 18.3. I haven't tried others. [Note that I clear the achievements each run during test so that I can duplicate this]

Hey I'm using the CIDepthBlurEffect Core Image Filter in my app. It seems to work ok but I get these errors in the console when calling the class.
CoreImage Metal library does not contain function for name: sparserendering_xhlrb_scan
CoreImage Metal library does not contain function for name: sparserendering_xhlrb_diffuse
CoreImage Metal library does not contain function for name: sparserendering_xhlrb_copy_back
CoreImage Metal library does not contain function for name: plain_or_sRGB_copy
Am I missing some sort of import to gain these Metal functions? I am using my own custom shaders but I assume you'd be able to use them along side the built in ones.
So I'm trying to use SpriteKit to make the background of my game. The walls have alpha 1.0, and the safe area alpha 0 and fully transparent. (e.g. a big black square with a smaller transparent square in the middle of it). Yet sprite kit always assume the entire image is either fully opaque or fully transparent. That defies its purpose isn't it? Is there a way to make this work?
After updating iPad/iPhone devices from iOS 18 to iOS 26, PhotogrammetrySession intermittently crashes during photogrammetry processing. The same workflow was stable on iOS 18 with no code changes to the app.
Environment:
OS versions: Works on OS 18, crashes on OS 26
Device: iPad/iPhone (reproducible across devices)
Source images: ~170-200 JPG files at 2160 x 3840 resolution
Reproduction:
The crash occurs consistently on the second or third sequential run of the photogrammetry session with the same image set. First run typically succeeds.
Crash details:
Xcode shows an uncaught exception during image processing:
terminating due to uncaught exception of type std::bad_alloc: std::bad_alloc
VTPixelTransferSession 420f sid 269 (2160.00 x 3840.00) [0.00 0.00 2160 3840]
rowbytes( 2160, 2160 ) Color( (null), 0x0, (null), (null), ITU_R_601_4 )
=> 24 sid 19 (2160.00 x 3840.00) [0.00 0.00 2160 3840] rowbytes( 6528 )
Color( 0x0, (null), (null), (null) )
This appears to be a memory allocation failure in VTPixelTransferSession during color space conversion. Has anyone else experienced similar crashes with CorePhotogrammetry on iOS 26, or found workarounds?

Hello! I'm currently porting a videogame console emulator to iOS and I'm trying to make the renderer (tested on MacOS) work on iOS as well.
The emulator core is written in C++ and uses metal-cpp for rendering, whereas the iOS frontend is written in Swift with SwiftUI. I have an Objective-C++ bridging header for bridging the Swift and C++ sides.
On the Swift side, I create an MTKView. Inside the MTKView delegate, I run the emulator for 1 video frame and pass it the view's backing layer for it to render the final output image with. The emulator runs and returns, but when it returns I get a crash in Swift land (callstack attached below), inside objc_release, which indicates I'm doing something wrong with memory management.
My bridging interface (ios_driver.h):
#pragma once
#include <Foundation/Foundation.h>
#include <QuartzCore/QuartzCore.h>
void iosCreateEmulator();
void iosRunFrame(CAMetalLayer* layer);
Bridge implementation (ios_driver.mm):
#import <Foundation/Foundation.h>
extern "C" {
#include "ios_driver.h"
}
<...>
#define IOS_EXPORT extern "C" __attribute__((visibility("default")))
std::unique_ptr<Emulator> emulator = nullptr;
IOS_EXPORT void iosCreateEmulator() { ... }
// Runs 1 video frame of the emulator and
IOS_EXPORT void iosRunFrame(CAMetalLayer* layer) {
void* layerBridged = (__bridge void*)layer;
// Pass the CAMetalLayer to the emulator
emulator->getRenderer()->setMTKLayer(layerBridged);
// Runs the emulator for 1 frame and renders the output image using our layer
emulator->runFrame();
}
My MTKView delegate:
class Renderer: NSObject, MTKViewDelegate {
var parent: ContentView
var device: MTLDevice!
init(_ parent: ContentView) {
self.parent = parent
if let device = MTLCreateSystemDefaultDevice() {
self.device = device
}
super.init()
}
func mtkView(_ view: MTKView, drawableSizeWillChange size: CGSize) {}
func draw(in view: MTKView) {
var metalLayer = view.layer as! CAMetalLayer
// Run the emulator for 1 frame & display the output image
iosRunFrame(metalLayer)
}
}
Finally, the emulator's render function that interacts with the layer:
void RendererMTL::setMTKLayer(void* layer) {
metalLayer = (CA::MetalLayer*)layer;
}
void RendererMTL::display() {
CA::MetalDrawable* drawable = metalLayer->nextDrawable();
if (!drawable) {
return;
}
MTL::Texture* texture = drawable->texture();
<rest of rendering follows here using the drawable & its texture>
}
This is the Swift callstack at the time of the crash:
To my understanding, I shouldn't be violating ARC rules as my bridging header uses CAMetalLayer* instead of void* and Swift will automatically account for ARC when passing CoreFoundation objects to Objective-C. However I don't have any other idea as to what might be causing this. I've been trying to debug this code for a couple of days without much success.
If you need more info, the emulator code is also on Github

Hello I trying to implement authentication via apple services in unity game with server made as another unity app On client side I succesfully got teamPlayerID signature salt timestamp publicKeyUrl According to this documentation https://developer.apple.com/documentation/gamekit/gklocalplayer/fetchitems(foridentityverificationsignature:)?language=objc
I have to
Verify with the appropriate signing authority that Apple signed the public key.
As I said my server is special build of unity project So now I have this kind of C# programm to check apple authority over public certificate i got from publicKeyUrl
TextAsset textAsset;
byte[] bytes;
textAsset = Resources.Load<TextAsset>("AppleRootCA-G3");
bytes = textAsset.bytes;
rootCert.ChainPolicy.ExtraStore.Add(new X509Certificate2(bytes));
textAsset = Resources.Load<TextAsset>("AppleRootCA-G2");
bytes = textAsset.bytes;
rootCert.ChainPolicy.ExtraStore.Add(new X509Certificate2(bytes));
textAsset = Resources.Load<TextAsset>("AppleIncRootCertificate");
bytes = textAsset.bytes;
rootCert.ChainPolicy.ExtraStore.Add(new X509Certificate2(bytes));
rootCert.Build(cert);
Where cert is X509Certificate2 object I ge from publicKeyUrl
AppleIncRootCertificate AppleRootCA-G2 AppleRootCA-G3 is certificates I got from https://www.apple.com/certificateauthority/
But it is not work Anytime rootCert.Build(cert); return false Why it is not work? May be I build keychain using wrong root CA cert? Or whole approach incorrect? Please help
I think I really have tried everything and I did all according to official documentation to support game mode on iOS or iPadOS but it doesn't matter what I do it just doesn't get triggered. Funny enough it works during development when I install it via Xcode but as soon as it is live on the store and when I install it from there game mode doesn't get triggered anymore. What I have atm
I have added (even though it is deprecated)
<key>GCSupportsGameMode</key>
<true/>
I have set the (but it seems only supported for macOS)
<key>LSApplicationCategoryType</key>
<string>public.app-category.games</string>
I have added
<key>LSSupportsGameMode</key>
<true/>
It just doesn't work. Is there anything else what needs to be done? Should the flag LSSupportsGameMode not be enough normally?
The reason why this is so annoying is that my app is a real time streaming app and I want to profit from minimised background activities for smoother gameplay and more consistent frame rates like mentioned in the documentation.
