Unstable behavior of xcodebuild -showdestinations
Hi, I am having an issue with xcodebuild -showdestinations command. Steps to reproduce: Create a new iOS application project in Xcode or use an existing one. Navigate to this project in a terminal. Run xcodebuild -project 'your-project-name.xcodeproj' -scheme 'your-scheme' -showdestinations What I expect: All destinations available in the Xcode UI should be listed. What I get: It depends. For new projects, I consistently get only generic platform destinations and my connected physical device. When I run the same command on an older project, I sometimes see all the expected destinations. It seems to be a roughly 50/50 chance between the two outcomes. Is there a way to get consistent results from xcodebuild -showdestinations? What can I do to ensure all destinations are listed reliably? Here is a more detailed log and a screenshot: ❯ xcodebuild -workspace 'WorkoutDiary.xcworkspace' -scheme 'WorkoutDiary' -showdestinations Command line invocation: /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/usr/bin/xcodebuild -workspace WorkoutDiary.xcworkspace -scheme WorkoutDiary -showdestinations User defaults from command line: IDEPackageSupportUseBuiltinSCM = YES 2025-06-17 19:13:50.261 xcodebuild[34753:6177985] DVTDeviceOperation: Encountered a build number "" that is incompatible with DVTBuildVersion. 2025-06-17 19:13:50.342 xcodebuild[34753:6177959] [MT] DVTDeviceOperation: Encountered a build number "" that is incompatible with DVTBuildVersion. Unable to Enable “Media Services (MusicKit, ShazamKit)” When Creating a Key
I am trying to integrate Apple Music API using MusicKit and need to generate a Developer Token. However, when I try to create a new key from the Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles section, the “Media Services (MusicKit, ShazamKit, Apple Music Feed)” option is grayed out. We are getting the error 'there are no identifiers available that can be associated with the key.' Although we did checkmark 'musickit' in app services. I have already: Enrolled in the paid Apple Developer Program Created a valid App ID under Identifiers Logged in as the Account Holder Tried multiple browsers and devices Despite this, the option remains disabled. Could you please enable this or let me know what further steps I need to take? Thank you!

The bundle does not contain an app icon for iPhone / iPod Touch of exactly '120x120' pixels
Trying to publish my .NET MAUI app via the transporter after migrating it from Xamarin (using the App Store Connect feature directly within visual studio 2022 has never worked for me) and getting this error. Validation failed (409) Missing required icon file. The bundle does not contain an app icon for iPhone / iPod Touch of exactly '120x120' pixels, in .png format for iOS versions >= 10.0. To support older versions of iOS, the icon may be required in the bundle outside of an asset catalog. Make sure the Info.plist file includes appropriate entries referencing the file. I have setup my maui app to use the asset catalog with the .pngs setup as bundled resources and I have also tried using the .svg method, both resulting in this error. When I zip and unzip my .ipa file I can see the asset catalog as part of the payload (C:\Archives\AIM_MAUI\Payload\AIM_MAUI.app\AppIcon.appiconset) Here is the contents of the Contents.json file { "images" : [ { "filename" : "icon_40.png", "idiom" : "iphone", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "20x20" }, { "filename" : "icon_60.png", "idiom" : "iphone", "scale" : "3x", "size" : "20x20" }, { "filename" : "icon_58.png", "idiom" : "iphone", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "29x29" }, { "filename" : "icon_87.png", "idiom" : "iphone", "scale" : "3x", "size" : "29x29" }, { "filename" : "icon_80.png", "idiom" : "iphone", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "40x40" }, { "filename" : "icon_120.png", "idiom" : "iphone", "scale" : "3x", "size" : "40x40" }, { "filename" : "icon_120.png", "idiom" : "iphone", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "60x60" }, { "filename" : "icon_180.png", "idiom" : "iphone", "scale" : "3x", "size" : "60x60" }, { "filename" : "icon_20.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "1x", "size" : "20x20" }, { "filename" : "icon_40.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "20x20" }, { "filename" : "icon_29.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "1x", "size" : "29x29" }, { "filename" : "icon_58.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "29x29" }, { "filename" : "icon_40.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "1x", "size" : "40x40" }, { "filename" : "icon_80.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "40x40" }, { "filename" : "icon_76.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "1x", "size" : "76x76" }, { "filename" : "icon_152.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "76x76" }, { "filename" : "icon_167.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "83.5x83.5" }, { "filename" : "icon_1024.png", "idiom" : "ios-marketing", "scale" : "1x", "size" : "1024x1024" } ], "info" : { "author" : "xcode", "version" : 1 } } I have tried manually using the actool tool from Xcode 16.4 to create the Assets.car file that is seeming to be missing and leading to this issue but even that can't compile the icons (or even a simple sample appicon.appiconset from Xcode with a singular .png added) and I am beginning to think there's an issue with the actool itself. I have tried reinstalling Xcode and every time the actool is just a partial download or a stub of the tool and not the real tool (actool size on my Mac is only 170kb and per my research it should be at least a couple mb) Is there any workaround?

Installer JS warning when try to read the version from /var/db/receipts folder
Hi, I am using Installer JS in Distrtibution file which is created using productbuild command. I am trying to read the installed version of app from the plist file present in the /var/db/receipts folder. It gives the following warning. If I enable the flag , notarization will fail. FJS: Package Authoring Error: access to path "/var/db/receipts/com.xxx.xxx.plist" requires Following is the function I have used to read the installed version. system.files.plistAtPath() I have also tried the following function to read the version from .app file. system.files.bundleAtPath Both the functions give the warning. Is there are a way to avoid this warning or a better way to read the installed version? Regards Prema Kumar

Regarding Launch Screens
When building an app with iOS26 beta3, I received a warning saying "Launch screens will soon be required." Does this mean that, similar to the thread below, the app might not launch in builds for iOS27 and later (including iOS27)? https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/789004

Built in ssh-add doesn't read ~/.ssh/config
I'm trying to authenticate to a git host using SSH keys stored in 1Password. I have ~/.ssh/config with mode 600 set with a symlink: Host * IdentityAgent "~/.1password/agent.sock" But ssh-add -l shows no identities. If I set $SSH_AUTH_SOCK, ssh-add -l works just fine. I'd love to not have to do this, though. Why doesn't ssh-add seem to read ~/.ssh/config? The built-in version is OpenSSH_10.0p2, LibreSSL 3.3.6. I've searched fruitlessly for an answer anywhere else.

SystemData and IOS Images
Hi, I’m trying to free up space on my computer and have uninstalled Xcode. However, I noticed that many large files remain on the filesystem even after uninstalling it. The largest remaining files (~33 GB) are iOS Simulator images located at: /System/Volumes/Data/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Volumes I attempted to delete them using root privileges, but it seems that these system files are mounted as read-only. I’m reaching out to ask for guidance to ensure that these files do not contain anything important for macOS, and that it’s safe to remove them before getting in recovery mode. Thank you very much for your advice!

Workbench Ad Tester not returning preview URLs
Apologies if this isn't tagged right but dev tools and services seemed the most appropriate since this is related to the workbench Ad Tester tool. I'm seeing a behavior where the preview link is not being generated. Specifically, I am seeing a POST request to the following URL consistently fail: https://iadworkbench.apple.com/adtester/api/v1/ads/previewLink?orgId=1127861 Variations/scenarios I have tried so far: All possible ad format choices on all possible devices All options for the placement type Both third party and uploaded creative sources Uploaded creative sources appear to be failing to upload as well A simple div with a "hello world" content fails as a third party creative source Multiple apple accounts I created a new account specifically to test if my primary apple ID was experiencing issues with this Multiple browsers I have tried multiple versions of Chrome/Firefox/Safari I tested with and without browser extensions to determine whether an extension was interfering or not Clearing session/local storage along with cookies I also created new profiles in browsers to verify that I was getting a fresh browser environment In all of these cases, the API request to generate a preview link is consistently failing with a 500 error code. It's worth noting that the web preview option works, but this isn't a truly accurate test environment and can't be solely relied on when testing ad content. I don't know exactly when this started happening as I have not used it in the last couple of weeks but I have used the workbench ad tester extensively in the past the same way I have been trying with my current test without issue. That coupled with the fact that the request for the preview link consistently fails in all of the test scenarios I've outlined above leads me to believe there is a problem with the API that is responsible for generating the preview links.

Promotional Offer keeps returning Contact Developer (Error code: 3903)
I am trying to add promotional offers in my iOS App. The signature is being verified through a google cloud function. My user id, signature, and product and offerIds return perfect. Promotional offer appears in the payment sheet as well. When applying for payment, the "ding" sound comes as well. But then I get the UIAlert with Unable to Purchase Contact developer. Error code in logs is 3903

Feedbacks stay “unread" forever
I have two feedbacks now where I’ve been requested additional info, and provided it, but the feedback still has an “unread” dot, and is still in the “Requests” folder. I’ve asked multiple times to clear this status in one of those feedbacks (FB14888965), but got no response. Not the end of the world as long as the engineers are notified, but iirc the dot would disappear as soon as I replied.

PDF opening from iOS Unity app in landscape mode instead of portrait
In our Unity App for iOS build, when we opened the PDF from the app, it is automatically opening in landspace mode instead of portrait. In the android and windows apps, we are able to open in the portrait mode. We tried to make the changes in the project settings but it did not change. Any way in which we can acheive this would be helpful for us.

Xcode Code coverage shows zero; even after 245 successful tests
I have a project inside the project structure. I have around 300 unit tests in the project. I see that for some of the subprojects, the coverage numbers show up correctly, but for other subprojects and the main project, the coverage number shows zero, even though the tests are running successfully. The log I get is: Aggregation tool emitted warnings: warning: /Users/ABC/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/projectABC-hfzmkbdgpiswoxfvvnvhrafaiqyb/Build/ProfileData/A8EEC1FB-1699-4C29-A88C-D3DDA226DBC0/0A416494-A393-4319-AA47-502D72084C9C-43351.profraw: raw profile version mismatch: Profile uses raw profile format version = 8; expected version = 10 PLEASE update this tool to the version in the raw profile, or regenerate the raw profile with the expected version. I only have one Xcode (26.0.1) on my machine. I tried cleaning the derived data, the cleaning project, and rerunning the tests, but it hasn't helped. Please help me get the coverage number back. Thank you.

On Demand Resources does not show an error
I am integrating On Demand Resources into my Unity game. The resources install without any problems if the internet connection is stable: all resources are installed. While testing various scenarios without an internet connection, I encountered the following problem: if I turn off the internet during installation, I don't get any error messages, but if I turn the internet back on, the download no longer continues (and I still don't get an error). UI tests blocked by “bash requesting screen access” popup in Mac OS 15
On macOS, I get a system popup when running UI tests in GitHub saying: “bash” is requesting to bypass the system private window picker and directly access your screen and audio. How can I prevent these login and screen access popups from appearing during automated UI tests? Is there an official setup or configuration for running IntelliJ UI tests in CI environments (macOS, Linux, Windows) to avoid such dialogs? My builds run in GitHub Actions VMs, so I can’t manually grant these permissions, and they block the tests.

Messed up my Repo. Need help with discarding a commit and dding to the previous one on the main branch.
I wanted to rollback a commit. So I shifted to the commit before it. Then I added new commits on the one I switched to, not realising this is not happening on the main branch. Now what do I do? Neerav

If I reopen the application with a stable internet connection, the download will always be at 0%. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. #import "Foundation/Foundation.h" #if ENABLE_IOS_ON_DEMAND_RESOURCES #import "Foundation/NSBundle.h" #endif #include <string.h> struct CustomOnDemandResourcesRequestData; typedef void (*CustomOnDemandResourcesRequestCompleteHandler)(struct CustomOnDemandResourcesRequestData* handler, const char* error); #if ENABLE_IOS_ON_DEMAND_RESOURCES struct CustomOnDemandResourcesRequestData { NSBundleResourceRequest* request; }; extern "C" CustomOnDemandResourcesRequestData* CustomOnDemandResourcesCreateRequest(const char* const* tags, int tagCount, CustomOnDemandResourcesRequestCompleteHandler handler) { NSMutableArray* tagArray = [NSMutableArray array]; for (int i = 0; i < tagCount; i++) { const char* tag = tags[i]; if (tag != NULL) { [tagArray addObject:[NSString stringWithUTF8String:tag]]; } } NSSet* tagSet = [NSSet setWithArray:tagArray]; CustomOnDemandResourcesRequestData* data = new CustomOnDemandResourcesRequestData(); data->request = [[NSBundleResourceRequest alloc] initWithTags:tagSet]; [data->request beginAccessingResourcesWithCompletionHandler:^(NSError* error) { dispatch_async(dispatch_get_main_queue(), ^{ const char* errorMessage = error ? UI tests blocked by “bash requesting screen access” popup in Mac OS 15
On macOS, I get a system popup when running UI tests in GitHub saying: “bash” is requesting to bypass the system private window picker and directly access your screen and audio. How can I prevent these login and screen access popups from appearing during automated UI tests? Is there an official setup or configuration for running IntelliJ UI tests in CI environments (macOS, Linux, Windows) to avoid such dialogs? My builds run in GitHub Actions VMs, so I can’t manually grant these permissions, and they block the tests.
