CarKeySession stays in the foreground with no BLE connection and disconnection events passthrough to the App! Device Activity monitor extension Not working

App 自动更新,导致App功能错乱。
当用户开启App自动更新后,自动更新App后,App有些功能会错乱。 1.有的会触发旧App代码功能,如旧版本有个选择框,在新版本选择框从界面移除了,但自动更新看,有的用户会还会触旧版本选择框的功能 2.数据错乱,如App录入数字6,发送到服务端变成5.4 现在发现这些问题。都是要把App删除,重新下载就可以。 请问要如何避免这样的问题。 App是有Objective-C,会不会与开启 BITCODE有关?

ShieldConfiguration: Shield does not update when token is moved from one store to anohter (while in foreground)
Hello, I have noticed that the ShieldConfiguration is only requested when opening a target app, and never when the application token is moved to a different shield while the target app remains in foreground. This causes problems because many times the wrong ShieldConfiguration is displayed (recycled) instead of requesting a new ShieldConfiguration. This bug has been around since the introduction of the Screen Time API in 2020 and is has not been addressed. Bug reports: FB14237883 FB17902392 Please fix asap!! Not acceptable to have bugs not being addressed for more than 5 years. Most concerning: This is still reproducing on iOS 26 beta 7!! Thanks a lot for your help.

softwareupdate utility not listing macOS 26 installer for a valid Apple Silicon machine
Given that I have enabled System Settings -> General -> Software Update -> Beta Updates -> macOS Tahoe 26 Developer Beta. WeatherKit DayWeather::date Timezone Issue
I use WeatherKit with Swift to get multiple cities weather by longitude and latitude. But I use this API in WeatherService for daily forecast: final public func weather<T>(for location: CLLocation, including dataSet: WeatherQuery<T>) async throws -> T And I found there is something wired: The date of WeatherKit::DayWeather is based on my device's timezone settings. Tokyo's Day Weather is start at UTC+8, New York' Day Weather is start UTC+8. Is there any way to set timezone correctly?

Kext loads well after launchd and early os_log entries rarely appear in unified log
Is there a way to ensure a kernel extension in the Auxiliary Kernel Collection loads (and runs its start routines) before launchd? I'm emitting logs via os_log_t created with an os_log_create (custom subsystem/category) in both my KMOD's start function and the IOService::start() function. Those messages-- which both say "I've been run"-- inconsistently show up in log show --predicate 'subsystem == "com.bluefalconhd.pandora"' --last boot, which makes me think they are running very early. However, I also record timestamps (using mach_absolute_time, etc.) and expose them to user space through an IOExternalMethod. LocalDictionary spelling adding words
Sorry if topic is not exact. I write Ainu in various Roman Latin scripts on English GUI Catalina ,Text Edit. The Ainu words are similar to English ex. 'an' in Ainu is 'exist' ,Ainu Language exists 'Ne Ainu itak an ',so spell checker will not red dot many words also some Ainu words look like other foreign words. I open LocalDictionary and find it blank ,so I open TextEdit and open show spelling grammar 100 words out of 200 are red dotted !the others are not learned, so I press' learn' and it skips to some words not Allan after 100 it stops ,then I go to LocalDictionary and see all those words alphabetical order ,! great ! but what about the rest ? why does select half of the words and /part/ of a phrase/ 'Itak a-e-yay-/han-nok-kar-a' = to study language by oneself.

Issue syntax “AND” conditions to trigger automation
I’m looking into activating my gate (has a dedicated app to it) while getting near home. i thought that a combination of Car bluetooth connection/Carplay connection as well as a 50 meter radius from home location would be nice to trigger the gate app. However, I find it hard to set these 2 parallel conditions in Shortcuts. I managed to set connection to car’s Bluetooth, but next screen would suggest the “do” action rather than offer additional conditions. i couldn‘t handle the “if” option. would like some help.

Non–App Clip NFC URLs show CPSErrorDomain error 2 after creating 50+ Advanced App Clips
We’re seeing unexpected NFC behavior once our app has 50+ Advanced App Clips created. Expected: Scanning an NFC tag with a URL that is NOT an App Clip invocation should show the standard “Open in Safari” notification. Actual: After we create ~50+ Advanced App Clips, scanning NFC tags for URLs on the same domain that are not associated with App Clips consistently shows “CPSErrorDomain error 2” instead of the Safari prompt.
 QR codes for the same non–App Clip URLs work as expected (shows Safari prompt). Clearing the App Clips “Experience Cache” sometimes helps briefly, but the error returns on consequent scans. Notes: Domain has valid AASA. App Clip invocation URLs work as expected.
 The issue appears tied to the number of Advanced App Clips configured. Below ~50, non–App Clip NFC scans behave correctly; above that, they fail.
 Affected across multiple devices and iOS versions tested. Repro steps: Configure 50+ Advanced App Clips for paths on a single domain.
 Encode a different URL on the same domain that is NOT listed as an App Clip invocation into an NFC tag.
 Scan the NFC tag on iPhone.
 Observe “CPSErrorDomain error 2” instead of the “Open in Safari” notification. Impact: blocks our NFC use case for regular web links once we scale App Clip experiences. Sysdiagnose #: FB20563121

How do I launch the Outlook Mail app from my development app?
I want to start the mail application from the development application, but the mail application made by Apple starts. It doesn't work even if I change the default email application to Outlook. When you delete the Apple Mail app, Outlook starts. I want to automatically attach the generated pdf file to the email, but that doesn't work either. Please tell me how to code.

Core Spotlight searching only for title
I just adding a way to donate my app's data to Core Spotlight using CSSearchableIndex, but I'm finding that spotlight is only searching for the title of the CSSearchableItem I create. I know the index is working, because it always finds the item through the title property, but nothing else. This is how I'm creating the CSSearchableItem: - (CSSearchableItem *) createSearchableItem { CSSearchableItemAttributeSet* attributeSet = [[CSSearchableItemAttributeSet alloc] initWithContentType: UTTypeText]; attributeSet.title = [self titleForIndex]; attributeSet.displayName = [self titleForIndex]; attributeSet.contentDescription = [self contentDescriptionForIndex]; attributeSet.thumbnailData = [self thumbnailDataForIndex]; attributeSet.textContent = [self contentDescriptionForIndex]; CSSearchableItem *item = [[CSSearchableItem alloc] initWithUniqueIdentifier: [self referenceURLString] domainIdentifier:@"com.cjournal.cjournal-Logs" attributeSet:attributeSet]; item.expirationDate = [NSDate distantFuture]; return item; } There's a lot of confusing tips around which say specifying the 'textContent' should work, and/or setting the displayName is essential, but none of these are working. A proper design approach for implementing a data logger using BLE in an iOS app.
Thank you for always reading my questions. This time, I'd like to ask some specific questions to gain a deeper understanding of iOS CoreBluetooth. In the previous question, we learned that although iOS can perform BLE scanning in the background, it is not suitable for use as a data logger. I was also taught that when using it as a data logger, the iOS app should use GATT communication, and that instead of reading data from the device one by one, it is recommended to store large amounts of data on the device and connect at an appropriate time (such as when the iOS app enters the foreground) to retrieve the data all at once. My requirements are the same as last time. I want to send data from a device equipped with some kind of sensor via BLE and display it in a graph in the iOS app. Data should be acquired every few to tens of seconds and reflected immediately in the graph. Measurements may take up to 24 hours at most. I would like to avoid making any major changes to the device. Also, it is unclear whether there will be enough memory for the data logger for 24 hours. Therefore, I am first looking for an appropriate communication method for the iOS app. iOS is smart and convenient, so I think users will check the measurement status every time they use this iOS app.Therefore, I want to be able to check the changes from the start of measurement to the present in a graph as soon as the app is launched. I would like to measure data from multiple devices (e.g. 5 devices) at the same time. I have a question based on the above requirements. When thinking about the best way to avoid making changes to the device, the only way I could come up with, as someone with insufficient iOS technology, is to keep the connection open via GATT communication and continue to obtain data. However, does iOS GATT communication have any limitations in this regard? Will the OS automatically disconnect GATT communication at a certain time? Also, if that happens, is there a way to automatically reconnect and obtain the data? Is it possible to smoothly obtain data using iOS GATT communication without any particular restrictions even in the background? Are any other permissions required? Regarding the sixth requirement. Until last time, with BLE scanning, even if there were multiple devices, the iOS app could measure the data for as many devices as it wanted, but this time, how many devices can be read? In the case of GATT communication with iOS CoreBluetooth, can multiple devices maintain a long connection? Or is it basically better to have one device per connection when creating such an app for iOS? I would like to know if there are any restrictions or points to be careful of when using GATT communication with multiple devices. I'm sorry for broadening my question, but if neither question 1 nor question 2 works, it will put a burden on the design of the device. If data is stored on the device, is it possible to automatically and periodically connect to the device at a set time interval (for example, once an hour, allowing for some margin of error) when the iOS app is in the background, and obtain log data from the device? Screen Time API: How to map bundleIdentifier to ApplicationToken for DeviceActivityMonitor when FamilyActivitySelection.Application.bundleIdentifier is nil?
I'm using FamilyActivityPicker to get consent for app/category management, which returns a FamilyActivitySelection object. I serialize this FamilyActivitySelection object (just applicationTokens and categoryTokens) and pass it to my DeviceActivityMonitor extension via App Group UserDefaults. I am using the JSON encoder/decoder over PropertyList (though both seem to exhibit the same behavior). After inspecting the FamilyActivitySelection object immediately after it's returned by FamilyActivityPicker in the main app, the application.bundleIdentifier property is consistently nil for every Application object within selection.applications. Similarly, category.localizedDisplayName is nil for ActivityCategory objects. This happens whether "Select All Apps" is used or if apps/categories are selected individually. I understand that this is the intended behavior due to Apple's user privacy policies. I read on another post that my app can be provided with bundle identifiers and app names within Shield Configuration extensions and Device Activity Report extensions - I'm not sure which ones or how exactly to do this. I am aware that I can use Label(applicationToken) SwiftUI view to display the app name/icon, but this doesn't give programmatic access to the bundleIdentifier string. My app will not log or export these bundleIdentifiers outside of its sandbox. My goal is to create mappings to the FamilyActivitySelection with the publicly accessible bundleIdentifiers. Any guidance, examples, or clarification on the intended workflow for this scenario would be greatly appreciated!

Best Practices for Unit Testing CoreBluetooth Applications - Seeking Official Guidance
Hello Apple Developer Community and Apple Engineers, I'm working on a CoreBluetooth-based iOS application and struggling to find clear, official guidance on best practices for unit testing CoreBluetooth functionality. I'd appreciate any insights from the community and especially from Apple engineers on the recommended approaches. Background &amp; Challenges: Our team has encountered several challenges when trying to implement comprehensive testing for our CoreBluetooth code: Subclassing Restrictions: Apple's documentation explicitly states "Don't subclass any of the classes of the Core Bluetooth framework. Overriding these classes isn't supported and results in undefined behavior." This makes traditional mocking approaches (creating mock subclasses of CBCentralManager, CBPeripheral, etc.) problematic for unit testing. Integration vs Unit Testing Dilemma: We currently use integration tests with third-party libraries like Nordic Semiconductor's CoreBluetoothMock, which work well for end-to-end testing but aren't true unit tests. They test the interaction between our code and the (mocked) CoreBluetooth stack rather than testing individual methods in isolation. Delegate Method Testing: Our code implements CBCentralManagerDelegate and CBPeripheralDelegate protocols. Testing these delegate methods in isolation is challenging because: The methods receive CBCentralManager/CBPeripheral parameters that we can't mock via subclassing Using third-party mocking frameworks makes them integration tests, not unit tests Testing the business logic within these methods requires the actual CoreBluetooth objects Simulator Limitations: The only official Apple documentation we found about CoreBluetooth testing is Technical Note TN2295, which is marked as "retired" and from 2012. It describes a complex simulator setup requiring physical USB adapters, suggesting simulator-only testing isn't fully supported. Specific Questions: What are Apple's current official recommendations for testing CoreBluetooth applications? Should we focus on device testing, integration testing with mocking libraries, or are there other approaches we should consider? For unit testing: How can we test individual delegate methods and business logic without violating the "no subclassing" restriction? Are there patterns or architectures that make CoreBluetooth code more unit-testable? Testing strategy: Should CoreBluetooth applications primarily rely on integration tests rather than traditional unit tests? Is this an acceptable trade-off given the hardware-dependent nature of Bluetooth? Simulator support: Is there current, supported functionality for testing CoreBluetooth applications in the simulator, or should all testing be done on physical devices? Current Approach: We're currently using: Integration tests with CoreBluetoothMock for comprehensive workflow testing Limited unit tests for business logic that we can extract from delegate methods Physical device testing for final validation This works but feels incomplete compared to the unit testing coverage we achieve in other parts of our application. Request: Any guidance from Apple engineers on the intended/recommended approach for testing CoreBluetooth applications would be incredibly valuable. ShieldConfiguration: Shield does not update when token is moved from one store to anohter (while in foreground)
Hello, I have noticed that the ShieldConfiguration is only requested when opening a target app, and never when the application token is moved to a different shield while the target app remains in foreground. This causes problems because many times the wrong ShieldConfiguration is displayed (recycled) instead of requesting a new ShieldConfiguration. This bug has been around since the introduction of the Screen Time API in 2020 and is has not been addressed. Bug reports: FB14237883 FB17902392 Please fix asap!! Not acceptable to have bugs not being addressed for more than 5 years. Most concerning: This is still reproducing on iOS 26 beta 7!! Thanks a lot for your help.

softwareupdate utility not listing macOS 26 installer for a valid Apple Silicon machine
Given that I have enabled System Settings -> General -> Software Update -> Beta Updates -> macOS Tahoe 26 Developer Beta. WeatherKit DayWeather::date Timezone Issue
I use WeatherKit with Swift to get multiple cities weather by longitude and latitude. But I use this API in WeatherService for daily forecast: final public func weather<T>(for location: CLLocation, including dataSet: WeatherQuery<T>) async throws -> T And I found there is something wired: The date of WeatherKit::DayWeather is based on my device's timezone settings. Tokyo's Day Weather is start at UTC+8, New York' Day Weather is start UTC+8. Is there any way to set timezone correctly?

Kext loads well after launchd and early os_log entries rarely appear in unified log
Is there a way to ensure a kernel extension in the Auxiliary Kernel Collection loads (and runs its start routines) before launchd? I'm emitting logs via os_log_t created with an os_log_create (custom subsystem/category) in both my KMOD's start function and the IOService::start() function. Those messages-- which both say "I've been run"-- inconsistently show up in log show --predicate 'subsystem == "com.bluefalconhd.pandora"' --last boot, which makes me think they are running very early. However, I also record timestamps (using mach_absolute_time, etc.) and expose them to user space through an IOExternalMethod. LocalDictionary spelling adding words
Sorry if topic is not exact. I write Ainu in various Roman Latin scripts on English GUI Catalina ,Text Edit. The Ainu words are similar to English ex. 'an' in Ainu is 'exist' ,Ainu Language exists 'Ne Ainu itak an ',so spell checker will not red dot many words also some Ainu words look like other foreign words. I open LocalDictionary and find it blank ,so I open TextEdit and open show spelling grammar 100 words out of 200 are red dotted !the others are not learned, so I press' learn' and it skips to some words not Allan after 100 it stops ,then I go to LocalDictionary and see all those words alphabetical order ,! great ! but what about the rest ? why does select half of the words and /part/ of a phrase/ 'Itak a-e-yay-/han-nok-kar-a' = to study language by oneself.

Issue syntax “AND” conditions to trigger automation
I’m looking into activating my gate (has a dedicated app to it) while getting near home. i thought that a combination of Car bluetooth connection/Carplay connection as well as a 50 meter radius from home location would be nice to trigger the gate app. However, I find it hard to set these 2 parallel conditions in Shortcuts. I managed to set connection to car’s Bluetooth, but next screen would suggest the “do” action rather than offer additional conditions. i couldn‘t handle the “if” option. would like some help.

Non–App Clip NFC URLs show CPSErrorDomain error 2 after creating 50+ Advanced App Clips
We’re seeing unexpected NFC behavior once our app has 50+ Advanced App Clips created. Expected: Scanning an NFC tag with a URL that is NOT an App Clip invocation should show the standard “Open in Safari” notification. Actual: After we create ~50+ Advanced App Clips, scanning NFC tags for URLs on the same domain that are not associated with App Clips consistently shows “CPSErrorDomain error 2” instead of the Safari prompt.
 QR codes for the same non–App Clip URLs work as expected (shows Safari prompt). Clearing the App Clips “Experience Cache” sometimes helps briefly, but the error returns on consequent scans. Notes: Domain has valid AASA. App Clip invocation URLs work as expected.
 The issue appears tied to the number of Advanced App Clips configured. Below ~50, non–App Clip NFC scans behave correctly; above that, they fail.
 Affected across multiple devices and iOS versions tested. Repro steps: Configure 50+ Advanced App Clips for paths on a single domain.
 Encode a different URL on the same domain that is NOT listed as an App Clip invocation into an NFC tag.
 Scan the NFC tag on iPhone.
 Observe “CPSErrorDomain error 2” instead of the “Open in Safari” notification. Impact: blocks our NFC use case for regular web links once we scale App Clip experiences. Sysdiagnose #: FB20563121

Kext user consent cannot be disabled on Apple Silicon?
Hi all, I would like to know if kext consent can still be disabled on Apple Silicon Macs. I tried spctl kext-consent disable in recovery OS, but after rebooting spctl kext-consent status still returns ENABLED. Is this command disabled or something?

How do I launch the Outlook Mail app from my development app?
I want to start the mail application from the development application, but the mail application made by Apple starts. It doesn't work even if I change the default email application to Outlook. When you delete the Apple Mail app, Outlook starts. I want to automatically attach the generated pdf file to the email, but that doesn't work either. Please tell me how to code.

Looping back in an AppIntent
I want to offer the user the opportunity to add more stuff to a list in AppIntents, but nothing I've tried "loops back" to the first Siri query. Checked several LLMs and they are suggest using "requestDialog" which doesn't exist, and calling recursively my AppIntent. Is this even possible?

Core Spotlight searching only for title
I just adding a way to donate my app's data to Core Spotlight using CSSearchableIndex, but I'm finding that spotlight is only searching for the title of the CSSearchableItem I create. I know the index is working, because it always finds the item through the title property, but nothing else. A proper design approach for implementing a data logger using BLE in an iOS app.
Thank you for always reading my questions. This time, I'd like to ask some specific questions to gain a deeper understanding of iOS CoreBluetooth. In the previous question, we learned that although iOS can perform BLE scanning in the background, it is not suitable for use as a data logger. I was also taught that when using it as a data logger, the iOS app should use GATT communication, and that instead of reading data from the device one by one, it is recommended to store large amounts of data on the device and connect at an appropriate time (such as when the iOS app enters the foreground) to retrieve the data all at once. My requirements are the same as last time. I want to send data from a device equipped with some kind of sensor via BLE and display it in a graph in the iOS app. Data should be acquired every few to tens of seconds and reflected immediately in the graph. Measurements may take up to 24 hours at most. I would like to avoid making any major changes to the device. Also, it is unclear whether there will be enough memory for the data logger for 24 hours. Therefore, I am first looking for an appropriate communication method for the iOS app. iOS is smart and convenient, so I think users will check the measurement status every time they use this iOS app.Therefore, I want to be able to check the changes from the start of measurement to the present in a graph as soon as the app is launched. I would like to measure data from multiple devices (e.g. 5 devices) at the same time. I have a question based on the above requirements. When thinking about the best way to avoid making changes to the device, the only way I could come up with, as someone with insufficient iOS technology, is to keep the connection open via GATT communication and continue to obtain data. However, does iOS GATT communication have any limitations in this regard? Will the OS automatically disconnect GATT communication at a certain time? Also, if that happens, is there a way to automatically reconnect and obtain the data? Is it possible to smoothly obtain data using iOS GATT communication without any particular restrictions even in the background? Are any other permissions required? Regarding the sixth requirement. Until last time, with BLE scanning, even if there were multiple devices, the iOS app could measure the data for as many devices as it wanted, but this time, how many devices can be read? In the case of GATT communication with iOS CoreBluetooth, can multiple devices maintain a long connection? Or is it basically better to have one device per connection when creating such an app for iOS? I would like to know if there are any restrictions or points to be careful of when using GATT communication with multiple devices. I'm sorry for broadening my question, but if neither question 1 nor question 2 works, it will put a burden on the design of the device. If data is stored on the device, is it possible to automatically and periodically connect to the device at a set time interval (for example, once an hour, allowing for some margin of error) when the iOS app is in the background, and obtain log data from the device? Screen Time API: How to map bundleIdentifier to ApplicationToken for DeviceActivityMonitor when FamilyActivitySelection.Application.bundleIdentifier is nil?
I'm using FamilyActivityPicker to get consent for app/category management, which returns a FamilyActivitySelection object. I serialize this FamilyActivitySelection object (just applicationTokens and categoryTokens) and pass it to my DeviceActivityMonitor extension via App Group UserDefaults. I am using the JSON encoder/decoder over PropertyList (though both seem to exhibit the same behavior). After inspecting the FamilyActivitySelection object immediately after it's returned by FamilyActivityPicker in the main app, the application.bundleIdentifier property is consistently nil for every Application object within selection.applications. Similarly, category.localizedDisplayName is nil for ActivityCategory objects. This happens whether "Select All Apps" is used or if apps/categories are selected individually. I understand that this is the intended behavior due to Apple's user privacy policies. I read on another post that my app can be provided with bundle identifiers and app names within Shield Configuration extensions and Device Activity Report extensions - I'm not sure which ones or how exactly to do this. I am aware that I can use Label(applicationToken) SwiftUI view to display the app name/icon, but this doesn't give programmatic access to the bundleIdentifier string. My app will not log or export these bundleIdentifiers outside of its sandbox. My goal is to create mappings to the FamilyActivitySelection with the publicly accessible bundleIdentifiers. Any guidance, examples, or clarification on the intended workflow for this scenario would be greatly appreciated!

Best Practices for Unit Testing CoreBluetooth Applications - Seeking Official Guidance
Hello Apple Developer Community and Apple Engineers, I'm working on a CoreBluetooth-based iOS application and struggling to find clear, official guidance on best practices for unit testing CoreBluetooth functionality. I'd appreciate any insights from the community and especially from Apple engineers on the recommended approaches. Background &amp; Challenges: Our team has encountered several challenges when trying to implement comprehensive testing for our CoreBluetooth code: Subclassing Restrictions: Apple's documentation explicitly states "Don't subclass any of the classes of the Core Bluetooth framework. Overriding these classes isn't supported and results in undefined behavior." This makes traditional mocking approaches (creating mock subclasses of CBCentralManager, CBPeripheral, etc.) problematic for unit testing. Integration vs Unit Testing Dilemma: We currently use integration tests with third-party libraries like Nordic Semiconductor's CoreBluetoothMock, which work well for end-to-end testing but aren't true unit tests. They test the interaction between our code and the (mocked) CoreBluetooth stack rather than testing individual methods in isolation. Delegate Method Testing: Our code implements CBCentralManagerDelegate and CBPeripheralDelegate protocols. Testing these delegate methods in isolation is challenging because: The methods receive CBCentralManager/CBPeripheral parameters that we can't mock via subclassing Using third-party mocking frameworks makes them integration tests, not unit tests Testing the business logic within these methods requires the actual CoreBluetooth objects Simulator Limitations: The only official Apple documentation we found about CoreBluetooth testing is Technical Note TN2295, which is marked as "retired" and from 2012. It describes a complex simulator setup requiring physical USB adapters, suggesting simulator-only testing isn't fully supported. Specific Questions: What are Apple's current official recommendations for testing CoreBluetooth applications? Should we focus on device testing, integration testing with mocking libraries, or are there other approaches we should consider? For unit testing: How can we test individual delegate methods and business logic without violating the "no subclassing" restriction? Are there patterns or architectures that make CoreBluetooth code more unit-testable? Testing strategy: Should CoreBluetooth applications primarily rely on integration tests rather than traditional unit tests? Is this an acceptable trade-off given the hardware-dependent nature of Bluetooth? Simulator support: Is there current, supported functionality for testing CoreBluetooth applications in the simulator, or should all testing be done on physical devices? Current Approach: We're currently using: Integration tests with CoreBluetoothMock for comprehensive workflow testing Limited unit tests for business logic that we can extract from delegate methods Physical device testing for final validation This works but feels incomplete compared to the unit testing coverage we achieve in other parts of our application. Request: Any guidance from Apple engineers on the intended/recommended approach for testing CoreBluetooth applications would be incredibly valuable.
