There is one xpc server and two xpc clients (clientA and clientB). When clientB sends a message to the xpc server, xpc server fills a value for dummyString in it's memory and I want clientA to know that dummyString got updated and also the new value for this dummyString. The updation of dummyString is not something that happens often.
Two options we tried:
Have a timer for 5 seconds in clientA and keep polling and request for the value of this dummyString.
Setup a darwin notification in server that gets posted whenever dummyString is being updated. clientA receives requests for dummyString value only when it observes a notification being posted.
Which of these two approaches causes the least delay for clientA to know the updated value of dummyString?

Hello Apple Developer Community,
We’re building an MDM product (SaaS, multi-tenant). I’d like clarification on the APNs MDM push certificate usage model for service providers (MSPs).
Question:
Is it acceptable for an MDM vendor to use a single APNs MDM push certificate owned by the vendor to manage devices for multiple, independent customer organizations?
Or is it required/recommended that each customer (company) must obtain and use its own APNs MDM push certificate (issued under the customer’s Apple ID) for their tenant?
Why we’re asking:
We understand that many guides show the process where each customer logs into the Apple Push Certificates Portal with their own Apple ID, uploads a CSR provided by the MDM, and then renews yearly.
Practically, for a small team and early-stage deployments, using one vendor-owned certificate across multiple tenants would be simpler.
We want to ensure we’re not violating any policy, terms, or technical requirements (e.g., certificate ownership, topic binding, device token isolation, audit/compliance expectations).
What we need from Apple (or authoritative sources):
An official Apple document or policy that clearly states whether per-customer certificates are mandatory vs strongly recommended for MSP/multi-tenant MDMs.
If per-customer is mandatory, please point to the relevant clause or section.
If a vendor uses a single certificate for multiple organizations, what risks or consequences should we expect (e.g., compliance issues, supportability, potential program violations, off-boarding problems, etc.)?
Context:
We’re sending only MDM wake notifications (standard MDM flow).
We understand certificates expire yearly and must be renewed with the same Apple ID to avoid device re-enrollment.
We want to follow Apple’s best practices while keeping early operations manageable.
Any guidance, links to official documentation, or clarification from Apple engineers/moderators would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

We are trying to figure out a strange issue.
Our app has not changed for at least 10 months but my devices and the QA tester device have all stopped receiving push/call notifications for twilio voip
The twilio credential and apple voip services certificate are in date and valid
It is pointing to the correct bundle id and topic (not changed configuration for years)
token passed in to TwilioVoiceSDK.register() is retrieved from PKPushRegistry as per guide
Running locally the Twilio Voice SDK successfully registers and retrieves APNs token
What is interesting is if I log in with exactly the same client account on an iOS 18.5 device (and an older iPad) call notifications work perfectly (I have made sure all focus modes/dnd are off and notification settings are identical)
The only changes myself and QA have made recently is minor iOS 18 version updates - 18.6.2 and 18.7.1
These now receive Invalid device token from APNs when Twilio attempts to create a call/voip notification for the user identity
Our devices sometimes switch environments test/prod so I installed the app cleanly on a borrowed 18.6.2 device and got the exact same issue
We have tested on these devices most of the year with no issues.
I have been in touch with twilio support and added code to explicitly unregister and re register on an affected device to clear any bindings but it didn't help.
Have apple made any changes in PushKit or token behaviour for later versions of iOS 18?
Thanks
We currently are checking to see if we need to make modifications to account for the new Certification Authority (CA) for APNs that will be changing soon. Since we currently use the newer token-based connection to APNs and not the certificate-based connection, would we be unaffected by this change?
Background:
The project was created in Xcode 5, then recreated in new Xcode. Before migration, push notifications worked without issues, after migration device token stopped being extracted.
Problem:
iOS app registers for push notifications, but didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken or didFailToRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithError methods are not being called.
Current situation:
App is registered for push notifications (isRegisteredForRemoteNotifications = true)
Notification permissions are granted
Entitlements are configured correctly (aps-environment: development)
Bundle ID: com.autoserviceonline.app
Team: BUSINESSVISION COMPANY, TOO (NS3FSG45V7)
But callback methods are not being called
What I've already tried:
Deleted and recreated all App IDs in Apple Developer Portal
Cleared Xcode cache and derived data
Created new APNs certificates and provisioning profiles
Removed "ghost" certificate from Keychain Access
Problem persists
Additional information:
Also noticed that Push Notifications Console opens non-existent project "BV.TestSwiftData" with Personal Team instead of current corporate App ID com.autoserviceonline.app. These issues might be related to project migration from old Xcode.
Request:
Why iOS doesn't call callback methods for device token, although registration was successful?
UNNotificationAttachment convenience init method seems to be checking for supported file types based on the extension of the file URL provided as a constructor parameter. This seems to be sub-optimal at best and incorrect at worst.
Is this is a known issue for which a bug already exists?
Hey Together,
I have seen that critical notifications need to be confirmed by apple to be used.
Sadly I couldn't figure out where to ask for that.
Context: I have a sports tournament app for Beach Handball. There are a couple of Courts like up to 20-25. The main use for that in my app would be to notify first aiders/Medics. Right now they are called in via Speakers or by the referees just writing that into a WhatsApp chat. As this takes a long time and the speakers can be deactivated due to rain, power shortage or even the medics sometimes are not in range to exactly hear the speakers calling them.
To Speed up this process I want them to download the App, Register via an E-Mail or a One Time Code. Now if a referee needs immediate Help from the Medics on their court they can send the Critical alert to the Medics without having to write a chat into a WhatsApp group, to get a call through the speakers 10 minutes later which the medics may not even hear.
A couple of weeks ago we had a player falling on her back/neck/head and they couldn't figure out if she broke her neck or not. Luckily the medics were right next to the court and saw that. but what would happen if they were a couple hundred of meters away and did not notice that? I mean the PA system was off due to a power shortage. someone trying to move her? Risking her death?
And while we are at it we could add those notifications if a team is missing to a court for a game that already should've started. Critical because it is urgent. Those notifications are handled with care.
Hi team,
I'm developing a feature that's collecting the device locations for home security app.
We've been following
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/corelocation/creating-a-location-push-service-extension
apns-push-type set to location.
apns-priority set to 5.
during testing, we found that the device's notification extension cannot be triggered after device going into lock screen for 10 mins.
Wonder should we set the priority to 10? Thanks!
We are observing a significant increase in 410 "Unregistered/ExpiredToken" responses from APNs when sending push notifications after 20 July. According to documentation, this indicates that the device token is no longer valid for the specified topic. However, the sudden spike raises questions about whether there have been any recent updates or changes to APNs' token invalidation logic.
Could you please confirm:
Whether there have been any recent updates in APNs behavior related to 410 responses?
If there are best practices or recommendations for handling large volumes of token invalidations in order to detect uninstallations?
hi i'm testing the new certificate. I'm using the p12 certificate and without doing anything, the sandbox can still be functioned.
I assume the new certificate has already been installed in the default path by linux. so I execute
openssl s_client -connect 17.188.143.34:443 -servername api.sandbox.push.apple.com -verifyCAfile /etc/pki/tls/certs/ca-bundle.crt -showcerts
and i received
CONNECTED(00000003)

verify return:1
depth=1 CN = Apple Public Server RSA CA 12 - G1, O = Apple Inc., ST = California, C = US
verify return:1
depth=0 C = US, ST = California, O = Apple Inc., CN = api.development.push.apple.com
verify return:1

so the server indeed has the certificate, is this correct?
Good morning all!
We are facing a specific case dealing with push notifications to iOS devices.
In my scenario:
I turn off my device's internet
Send multiple push notifications via server using Firebase.
I turned ON my device's internet again.
I only see the last push notification I sent.
This is an expected scenario?
There is any documentation that supports this statement?
Thank you all!

APNS
We operate a social network application, SportsYou with over 3 million monthly active users and are experiencing significant issues with push notification delivery through APNs.
We have a large number of users reporting they are not receiving push notifications. Our infrastructure uses AWS SNS integrated with APNs to deliver notifications. However, AWS CloudWatch consistently reports successful delivery (Success response), even though users confirm they never received the notifications.
Because we receive success responses from AWS SNS, our system does not attempt to recreate or refresh the device endpoints. This leaves us unable to detect or recover from these delivery failures automatically.
This issue is widespread and inconsistent. It affects users across multiple variables including different iOS versions, different device models, and different versions of our application. We cannot identify a clear pattern that would help us isolate the root cause.
With millions of active users, even a small percentage of delivery failures represents thousands of users experiencing a degraded service. This is significantly impacting user engagement and satisfaction.
We need guidance on how to properly diagnose this issue and ensure reliable notification delivery to our users. Specifically, we'd like to understand why we're receiving success responses when notifications aren't being delivered, and what steps we can take to detect and prevent these failures.
I'm working with a deeplink I have to implement to my app. The deeplink is working because in some cases i will explain later the method is being executed. So when I tap the deeplink with a deeplink-tester-web I detect if the url is which I want and, if it's the case, i post a notification to NotificationCenter with a string parameter I need.
Case 1. I tap the deeplink when the view controller with the addObserver method is at the background with the app itself. It works (the only case)
Case 2. The app is closed so the deeplink opens the app directly in that view controller (the method is no being called event if the notification is there) Why?
Case 3. The app is at the background but in another screen. When I tap the deeplink and, after returning to the app, travel to my viewController the method is not called when the ViewController becomes visible. Why?
I've not seen anything in the documentation that can help me and i cannot access to the array of observers because the API does not allow that
Thanks. Any help will be appreciate.
Code:
When the deeplink is tapped the app delegate method that manages universal links call to this code when the url is a specific one
@objc func handleRecommendedOffer(offerId: String) {
NotificationCenter.default.post(name: .deeplinkRecommendedOfferNotification, object: nil, userInfo: ["offerId": offerId])
}
In my viewcontroller viewDidLoad (i've tried also viewWillAppear too):
NotificationCenter.default.addObserver(self, selector: #selector(goToDetail(notification:)), name: .deeplinkRecommendedOfferNotification, object: nil)
@objc private func goToDetail(notification: Notification) {
if let userInfo = notification.userInfo, let offerId = userInfo["offerId"] as? String {
showLoading()
getOfferViewModel.getOfferDetail(id: offerId)
}
}

I tried below at 2:00 PM on 21/01/2025(JST).
Apple Push Notification service server certificate update
I followed above,
a new server certificate: "SHA-2 Root : USERTrust RSA Certification Authority certificate" was added to my push server, but a certificate error occurred and push notifications could not be sent.
So I refered this article,Instead of connecting via DNS name resolution at api.development.push.apple.com,
I fixed api.development.push.apple.com to "17.188.143.34" in /etc/hosts,
I could push notifications with the new server certificate.
(I got this IP(17.188.143.34) from this airtcle)
From this, I suspect that Apple had not yet updated the APNs certificate (CA) for the Sandbox environment as of 2:00 PM on January 21, 2025 (JST).
Was the update published as scheduled?

We are facing an issue where VoIP notifications are not delivered to a user's device.
If we login with the user credentials on another device the VoIP notifications are being received, if he logs in on his device VoIP notifications are not being received anymore on all devices.
So When the user logs in on the affected device, all devices on that account stop receiving VoIP pushes (including the affected one). Logging out on the affected device restores delivery to other devices.
What could cause this issue?
It's only happening for this user so the configuration and mobile app PushKit code is working as intended.
I see the log in my server and they told that PTT notification sent successful but bellow function not call from my app. Could you give me any suggest?
func incomingPushResult(channelManager: PTChannelManager, channelUUID: UUID, pushPayload: [String: Any]) -> PTPushResult
The system calendar when showing a calendar event shows a relative timestamp on the notification versus all other apps which have a timestamp of when the notification was sent.
Is there a way to set the timestamp to be relative? I am currently working on a calendar app and we should be able to use the same system that apple uses for its own calendar.
Post about this on stack overflow from someone else a few years ago
Hello, i'm facing issues, when trying to integrate push notification feature into my app. the following message is shown and I don't know how to fix it:
ExportArchive "Runner.app" requires a provisioning profile with the push notifications feature
(Encountered error while creating the IPA)
Thankful for any help! Best regards

I've got a problem with compatibility with Swift6 in iOS app that I have no idea how to sort it out.
That is an extract from my main app file
@MainActor
@main struct LangpadApp: App {
...
@State private var notificationDataProvider = NotificationDataProvider()
@UIApplicationDelegateAdaptor(NotificationServiceDelegate.self) var notificationServiceDelegate
var body: some Scene {
WindowGroup {
TabView(selection: $tabSelection) {
...
}
.onChange(of: notificationDataProvider.dateId) { oldValue, newValue in
if !notificationDataProvider.dateId.isEmpty {
tabSelection = 4
}
}
}
}
init() {
notificationServiceDelegate.notificationDataProvider = notificationDataProvider
}
}
and the following code shows other classes
@MainActor
final class NotificationServiceDelegate: UIResponder, UIApplicationDelegate, UNUserNotificationCenterDelegate
{
var notificationDataProvider: NotificationDataProvider?
func application(_ application: UIApplication, didFinishLaunchingWithOptions launchOptions: [UIApplication.LaunchOptionsKey : Any]? = nil) -> Bool {
UNUserNotificationCenter.current().delegate = self
return true
}
func setDateId(dateId: String) {
if let notificationDataProvider = notificationDataProvider {
notificationDataProvider.dateId = dateId
}
}
nonisolated func userNotificationCenter(_ center: UNUserNotificationCenter, didReceive response: UNNotificationResponse) async {
// After user pressed notification
let content = response.notification.request.content
if let dateId = content.userInfo["dateId"] as? String {
await MainActor.run {
setDateId(dateId: dateId)
}
}
}
nonisolated func userNotificationCenter(_ center: UNUserNotificationCenter, willPresent notification: UNNotification) async -> UNNotificationPresentationOptions {
// Before notification is to be shown
return [.sound, .badge, .banner, .list]
}
}
@Observable
final public class NotificationDataProvider : Sendable {
public var dateId = ""
}
I have set Strict Concurrency Checking to 'Complete.' The issue I'm facing is related to the delegate class method, which is invoked after the user presses the notification.
Current state causes crash after pressing notification. If I remove "nonisolated" keyword it works fine but I get the following warning
Non-sendable type 'UNNotificationResponse' in parameter of the protocol requirement satisfied by main actor-isolated instance method 'userNotificationCenter(_:didReceive:)' cannot cross actor boundary; this is an error in the Swift 6 language mode
I have no idea how to make it Swift6 compatible. Does anyone have any clues?
