AXIsProcessTrusted returns true, but AXUIElementCopyAttributeValue fails with .cannotComplete
This was working a few days ago, but it has since stopped and I can't figure out why. I've tried resetting TCC, double-checking my entitlements, restarting, deleting and rebuilding, and nothing works. I have com.apple.security.accessibility set to YES in the Entitlements file (although i had to add it manually), and a NSAccessibilityUsageDescription string set in Info.plist. The first time I ran this, macOS nicely prompted for permission. Now it won't do that, even when I use AXIsProcessTrustedWithOptions() to try to force it. If I use tccutil to reset accessibility and apple events, it still doesn't prompt. If I drag my app from the build products folder to System Settings, it gets added to the system TCC DB (not the user DB). Bulgarian cyrillic alphabet appears to be Russian, but should look Bulgarian
Hello So if you use the Bulgarian keyboard, you get these characters: явертъуиопюасдфгхйклшщзьцжбнмч This isn’t really right for Bulgaria, because т should look like m, and д should look like g, and other characters should look like rotated or mirrored Latin characters. E.g., г should look like a backwards s. Compare the Bulgaria Wikipedia page in Bulgarian: https://bg.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%91%D1%8A%D0%BB%D0%B3%D0%B0%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%8F with the Bulgaria Wikipedia page in Russian: https://ru.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%91%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%B3%D0%B0%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%8F Notice that the letters are different. Anyhow, the ios Bulgarian font is just Russian Cyrillic, and that seems like an unintended bug rather than an intentional stylistic choice, basically.

VisionOS - Gamepad steals focus
I am developing a vision os app for controlling an underwater ROV. I have ornaments with telemetry and buttons around a central video view feed. I have custom buttons mappings, such as "A" for locking the depth of the drone. However, when I look at buttons or certain ornaments, my custom gamepad logic is kept from running. This means that when a SwiftUI Button gains focus on visionOS, pressing the controller’s A button triggers the system’s default “click” on that Button rather than my custom buttonA handler. Essentially, focus interception by the system is stealing my A-press events and preventing my custom gamepad logic from running. Is there a way to disable the built in gamepad interaction and only allow my custom gamepad mappings?

Ipad 7th generation
I updated with 18.3 beta, but lost video and audio option with that update, I tried to restore with itune in windows 11, got struck between. Forcefully turned off ipad, after two tries got off.... Off like blinked out screen... Not tried all tricks to on, can't on....please tell a solution. Used all your advices in internet. It was 90% charged, working superbly. So far no risk... Please help me. No charging icon, no sign of life. How can On?

Accessibility full keyboard access issue.
In our application we are using UIAlertViewController. When accessibility full keyboard access is enabled, and we are trying to dismiss that AlertViewController with Esc key from external keyboard that is not working. We are presenting AlertViewController as a popover. We need dismiss the AlertViewController with Esc key press from external keyboard.

Programmatically force VoiceOver to read parentheses for math expressions
How can I force VoiceOver to read parentheses for math expressions like this: Text("(2+3)×4") // VoiceOver: Two plus three, times four I’m looking for a way to have VoiceOver announce parentheses (e.g. “left paren”, “right paren”) without relying on NumberFormatter.Style.spellOut or .speechAlwaysIncludesPunctuation(), as both have drawbacks. Using .spellOut breaks braille output and Rotor › Characters menu by turning numbers and symbols into words. And .speechAlwaysIncludesPunctuation() makes VoiceOver overly verbose—for example, it reads “21” as “twenty hyphen one.” Is there a better way to selectively announce specific punctuation like parentheses while keeping numbers and symbols intact for braille and Rotor use?

`accessibilityUserInputLabels` is ignored on `UIBarButtonItem`
accessibilityUserInputLabels is working fine with any view I tried this on. Meaning that the control can be toggled with the provided alternative names when using Voice Control. When setting this property on any UIBarButtonItem though, it seems Voice Control ignores the alternative names provided by setting accessibilityUserInputLabels. For comparison, accessibilityLabel works perfectly when set on UIBarButtonItem. Is anyone facing the same issue? Using Xcode 16.0 (16A242) on iOS 18

Programmatically setting accessibility focus broken?
Hello! I'm trying to improve the accessibility of a UIKit login form in our iOS app. If an error occurs, an error message is shown in a label that is hidden by default. For our VoiceOver users, I want to move the focus to the error message label so that VoiceOver reads out the error message. I'm trying to achieve this using UIAccessibility.post, but try as I might, it does not work. To better understand the problem, I created a very simple App which shows a button and a label (always visible), and on pressing the button, I post an accessibility notification: UIAccessibility.post(notification: .layoutChanged, argument: label) What I expect to happen is for the focus to move from the button to the label. What happens instead is the focus stays with the button and VoiceOver reads out the button's label again. So it seems to process the notification, but ignore the argument. Am I misunderstanding how accessibility notifications work or is this simply broken at the moment? I am testing this withy my iPhone with the current iOS version 18.2.1 By the way, using the more modern variant leads to the same result: AccessibilityNotification.LayoutChanged(label).post()

I need to understand the different layers that are there in the iPhone X and later OLED screens as I am designing a hardware attachment. They seem to be projecting letters and images from a different layer than the subpixel layer. Is this proprietary information, or is there a resource that explores them?

Separate bluetooth keyboard and bluetooth scanner inputs
Hi, I have an iOS app where bluetooth scanner and bluetooth keyboard both should work simultaneously. I have used 'pressesBegan' method to fetch the characters which are coming from the bluetooth keyboard. This method is fetching all the bluetooth keyboard inputs correctly. But this method is also called when the characters are coming from the bluetooth scanner. In the 'pressesBegan' method, I have to separate the inputs which are coming from the bluetooth keyboard and are coming from bluetooth scanner. They both have some different use in the app. I have already tried with the fetching speed of the characters, but no luck in case of high speed typing. So characters fetching speed will not work in our case. Is there any way to separate the inputs based on some other factorials? Or any other info in the 'pressesBegan' method which can separate the input that it is coming from scanner or is coming from keyboard. Any suggestion regarding this will be helpful. How to lookup keybinding translation across input sources
I have an application that binds a menu item to trigger on ⌘]. When I set the US input source, I press ⌘] in order to trigger that item. However, when I switch the input source to QWERTZ (German), the trigger changes to ⌘Ä automatically by the OS. It seems to translate keystrokes for different input sources. The problem is that I also render the keybindings in a window in my application, and my application is not aware of this translation. Furthermore, I have other key shortcuts in my application which are not bound to menu items, and I want to make sure those get translated too. Does AppKit expose a way to lookup what a keystroke will be when MacOS translates it, i.e. lookup ⌘Ä from ⌘] when the current layout is QWERTZ? I can't find anything in Apple's docs. I tried converting a character to virtual key code based on the US layout and then mapping it back to a character based on the QWERTZ layout. That doesn't seem to be the same b/c that ends up converting ] to + instead which seems to be based on physical key location, different from how the keybindings are handled. Update: I notice similar behavior for VS Code's menu bar, e.g. in their "Terminal" menu. Switching to German changes some bindings. This does not occur at all in iTerm's menu bar, I suspect b/c their menu items are specified in a different way, xib files with hard-coded key equivalents

What is the appropriate accessibility trait for selectable UITableViewCell?
I’m trying to understand the best practice for assigning accessibilityTraits to a UITableViewCell that users can select from a list of options. In Apple’s first-party apps like Settings, I’ve noticed an inconsistent approach—some cells use the Button trait, while others simply announce the label along with the Selected trait when applicable, without any additional role like Button or Adjustable. So my question is: What is the most appropriate accessibility trait to use for a selectable table view cell that updates a selection (like a settings option)? Is using .button the right approach, or should we rely solely on .selected? Is there any user experience guideline from Apple that recommends one over the other? Would love to hear how others handle this for clarity and consistency in VoiceOver behavior.

Unity Apple Plugin Accessibility Voice over issue with focus
I am trying to implement voice over to my game, and have encountered an issue where a static text will take focus of all other interactions. I have a tutorial scene where I have one short "static text" accessibility node, but rest of gameplay is without such. This static text field occupies small part of screen and works fine, but I am not able to click on anything else, including any of my gameplay elements, wherever on the screen I click, it just re-highlights that static text. It there a requirement for all elements to use Accessibility Nodes and can't have mixed setup with some not having them ? How can I get around it? Question number 2: What decides which Accessibility node gets selected when entering a new UI screen, I have multiple buttons and am observing rather random behaviour, every time different button is highlighted first. Question number 3: The plugin documentation mentiones runtime support in play mode, are there any specific steps for this to work as I can't seem to be able to. I have VoiceOver enabled on macOS unity is on macOS (also tried iOS) platform but it doesn't seem to do anything. Note my buttons and label accessibility nodes work correctly on iOS build. Getting precise text position with Swift for MacOS
Hey there! Hope you are starting the year with great joy. My situation I'm building a new product that is based on detecting certain text on screen in realtime. The product is only targeted for Mac and it's built with Swift My problem I need to get the exact position of a text element with the Apple Accessibility API but I can't figurate it out. I managed to get the AXUIElement where the text is placed but it's position is too broad and off target. My discoveries so far I've tried OCR but is too slow for what I'm building, so the only possible way I can think of is with the Accessibility API. Thank you in advanced.

iOS VoiceOver Does Not Remove :focus-visible from Button When Moving to Non-Button Elements
When using iOS VoiceOver to navigate a webpage, selecting a element correctly activates the :focus-visible state. However, when VoiceOver moves to a non-button element (such as a or ), the previously focused button retains its :focus-visible state. The focus indicator only updates when VoiceOver moves to another . This behavior can be confusing for screen reader users, as it creates the appearance of multiple elements being focused simultaneously. It also differs from expected keyboard navigation behavior, where focus styles typically update as soon as the user moves to a new interactive element. Is this an intentional VoiceOver behavior, or could this be a bug? If intentional, is there a recommended workaround to ensure correct focus indication when moving between different types of elements? Steps to Reproduce: Enable VoiceOver on an iOS device. Navigate using swipe gestures or explore-by-touch to focus on a . Observe that the button correctly receives the :focus-visible styling. Move to a non-button element (e.g., a with tabindex="0" or an ). Notice that the button still retains its :focus-visible state, even though VoiceOver has moved to a new element. Expected Behavior: The previously focused should lose its :focus-visible state when VoiceOver moves to a different interactive element, just as it does when using keyboard navigation.
